We had an amazing time at the log cabin. Some of the things we enjoyed were swinging on the porch swing after dinner, swimming, and walking the surrounding area with our dog. We saw lots of deer, and bunnies and we had a heron at sunset most nights on the dock. A humming bird came by one afternoon and just visited in front of the living room picture window. We were able to view the sunrise from our bedroom picture window.
We rented a boat for several days and explored the beautiful lake!
Our experience was excellent and we hope to be back next year!

4th year now in a row now visiting SML. 1st time at this property. I towed my 25’ boat and small family 250 miles south down I-81.
Awesome vacation, not primitive but practical.
Everything we needed.
The view from the house, dock, master is a 2 million dollar view.
If you don’t like squirrels, deer, acorns falling on the roof, please head to Roanoke and check in to the holiday inn!
Had a few questions for the owners and I was answered and satisfied upon check in.

A wonderful stay at a rustic lake cabin. Pictures and description were accurate although not as spacious for the dogs to run as we imagined. Lake is right there for your enjoyment- swimming, fishing, paddling, or boating. If you want to spend anytime on the sun deck, do bring your Dramamine if you get motion sickness,” it rocks with the waves! Overall an incredible getaway and can’t wait to return!

We had a pleasant little getaway and Log Haven was a very nice choice. It’s cozy and perfect for 2 to 3 people, lots of wildlife and an osprey nest nearby and it was fun to watch that giant bird catch fish all day long.

We will be back.

Even for a short weekend, this cabin has become our families favorite! Great location and amenities.
The owner updates the property regularly and communicates with their guest with immediate responses.

Perfect rustic cabin for some quality relaxing family time, in the perfect location!

We had a great, relaxing stay in this charming cabin. Great views and cozy environment. Very clean and well maintained.

We’ve stayed multiple times at this cabin! Love it!!! All aspects. This visit had one minor item to report … the floors were very dirty. Swept clean/no debris; however, when I wiped up a spill the cloth was filthy.

Loved the location. Property was perfect for the four of us.
Would definitely come back again.

My family really enjoyed this property and trip for Spring Break. This was our first time at Smith Mountain Lake and it was beautiful! We have visited many of the State Parks all around VA and this one was worth the trip. The property was very comfortable and relaxing. We fished off the shore and docks, enjoyed the kayak and were close to go hike around the state park. I would definitely visit again.

The cabin is very quaint and it is pet friendly which is awesome. The area around it is less pet friendly. Not much grassy area and off a gravel drive one lane road so not a lot of areas to take a walk and the neighbors seemed to track us every time I took the pup for a walk. The cabin is small but adequately fit out for a few folks but it was damp and moldy and very dusty. No cleaning supplies to speak of nor a sponge or anything to wash dishes. But, we bought some supplies and cleaned as needed. The view is spectacular! I do wish there were a few fish around but we didn’t find any - don’t think that is the cabin’s fault though. We didn’t use the hot tub after checking it out and not smelling any chlorine and seeing some residue on the water surface. All in all, not the romantic getaway we had planned but some great sunrises and sunsets over the lake.
All the notes about what to do and not to do seemed a bit much but what was more alerting is that there is mold on the paper. We also had to clean the front load washer by wiping out the gasket and clearing lint from it so it would run properly.
Perhaps we were the first of the season and it’s not been occupied in a while; regardless, it was not a perfect getaway.

Lovely stay!

We stayed 4 nights over Christmas and did a lot of cooking. We were surprised at how much cooking implements and herbs/spices were available. The cabin was cozy and comfortable with a fantastic view over the lake. We played games at the table in front of a large picture window, enjoyed the pool table and hot tub and read on the porch and dock. It was lovely.

Everything we needed and comfortable accommodations for our family Thanksgiving get-away. We all agreed we would do this again. We’re also hoping to go again when there’s warmer weather for enjoying the Lake.

The house and property was comfortable, clean, and well-maintained. Beautiful lake, nice amenities, kind and communicative hosts. Would definitely stay here again!

Authentic log cabin on a lake, quiet, peaceful, beautiful scenery, great fall getaway

Wonderful relaxing long weekend! Thank you for the use of this charming and well appointed cabin with a beautiful view of the lake. We loved the location, the view, and all of the thoughtful ways the owners laid out the experience. We really appreciated how there is plenty of light inside the cabin, and how we had everything we could possibly need. A great experience! We hiked at the nearby SML State Park and spent time just reading on the porch. Just what we needed! Thank you!

Comfortable and cozy cabin, love the porch with swings. Great water views and amenities.

The lakeside setting and outdoor space is fantastic. The home is rustic and well kept.
I would keep in mind the fact that one bedroom is right next to the kitchen, living room and door that leads to the deck so if other people staying in the upstairs bedroom and they are early risers or night owls it will not be quiet.
4.8
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Made my birthday weekend celebration even more amazing. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home….we will definitely come again!!

The lake is beautiful and the wrap around porch is the place to be. Enjoyed playing pool and hiking in nearby state park. Leaves starting to change and had crisp fall weather. Very quiet. Close to stores and restaurants.

This is a delightful log cabin with a fabulous porch overlooking the lake and sunrise views. We began each day on the State Park trails (minutes away), rented a boat a mile up the road, and enjoyed the views from the dock and back porch. Owners sent a note in advance with detailed information about the house and area - I look forward to returning.

This cabin is just perfect for a family get away. I am a cook and the kitchen set up was great including a great selection of herbs and spices. Fishing was great and just everything about the cabin is warm and inviting.

The online photos don't capture all of the great qualities of this house. It was truly a delight.

Great location, Great home! Great communication and co-co
cooperation with owners! Would stay there again!

Wonderful rustic property with excellent lake access and views - a true authentic cabin on the lake. But...critters (squirrels or mice, not sure) were in the space between the downstairs ceiling and the upstairs floor. And those critters were very active between 9 and 10 pm, then again between 4 and 6 am, which definitely interrupted our sleep. I notified the owner during our stay and he acknowledged the situation. (I expected owner to offer a little $$ relief on the rate given the situation but no such luck.) You'll love this cabin if you don't mind sharing it with a few furry friends.

This is a beautiful log cabin, in the woods and on the lake. Great views, private, perfect for our 25th wedding anniversary trip.
4.8
Great view and comfortable house! Amenities were fun and we enjoyed the view from the windows even on a cold, windy day. Being Dog friendly is wonderful, we would love to visit again!
4.8
What was originally supposed to be an adults only trip turned into adults plus dog and then adults plus dog plus kids on a different date. At each step the owners were very responsive and accommodating to the changes.
The cabin was perfect!
It is tucked away on a small peninsula of the lake and is very quiet but still only a 5 minute drive to the state park or a country store.
We were very happy and plan to book again this summer.
5 out of 5, can't say enough good things!

We absolutely adore this place for our family Christmas. We've been there for 64 degree days and 7 degree days. Both lovely, both joyful, both memorable. We are so thankful for this welcoming and warm cabin.

Log Haven is on a very quiet street, right on Smith Mountain Lake. The views from the cabin were stunning. We have a wonderful time and hope to go back!
4.8
The cabin is comfortable, and its private access to the lake, including a wooden dock, made it fun to stay at and canoe on Smith Mountain Lake. The location is excellent, just 20 min away from Food Lion and only ~10 minutes away from the State Park, its sandy beach, and its fantastic hikes.
The cabin has all it needs (pool table in the basement, life jackets, hot tub), and plenty of space for the two of us, our son, and our golden retriever. In March, it was very quiet (even though we stayed here during Spring Break), and very relaxing. Now we are curious to experience it during the summer and get a chance to swim in the lake.

We had a great time while staying in this awesome property. We love the views, amenities, and coziness of the cabin. Thank you for making your property available for our special occasion. It was worth the trip.

Had a great weekend stay with our family very quiet winter stay played pool and board games loved the lake location thanking about coming back in the summer and using the lake and dock beautiful cabin for a family adventure thanks

The property was absolutely gorgeous just as the photos showed. Do note that bring your own food would be advisable unless you want to spend some time travel to locate places because things are a good way away from the cabin but so worth it. Only reason that a 5 star was not given for communication with property manager was because we couldn't figure out how to turn the hot tub jets off and a message was left on Saturday evening and the call was return on Monday or Tuesday which our stay was over. Our only regret was that we were only there for a weekend. :(

This cabin was truly the best of both worlds. I had the perfect cabin feel with one of the most amazing views I have ever seen. While maintaining the rustic feel it also hade all the amenities one could ever ask for. We ill definitely be going back.

The view was amazing. The cabin and atmosphere was just was we needed. So relaxing.

We visited Nov 2022 and loved our long weekend in the cabin. The location is perfect, and the house of lots of equipment and amenities to enjoy - like a pool table, kayak, games. We particularly enjoyed breakfast and coffee on the deck above the boat ramp, overlooking the lake.
