A superb villa with lovely big pool which is not overlooked by any other villas. Pretty garden with fruit trees. Big, clean villa which is very well equipped. Gina is a great host and was very helpful throughout our stay. The welcome pack was much appreciated. The villa is in a great location for sightseeing in the area. Good restaurants a short drive away. We are already talking about returning next year!

Lovely villa, well equipped kitchen, good sized bedrooms each with an en-suite and great lounge diner. Great sized pool and well kept gardens. Air con was a nice luxury. Located in the country side but only a short drive to the coast, supermarkets etc. Gina, the host, was very nice, showed us around the villa on arrival and responded to any queries immediately. Would recommend.

Das Haus lag für unseren Geschmack ideal. Kurze Fahrtzeiten zu Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Stränden. Auch die Erkundung der Umgebung war von diesem Standort aus ideal. Die Kommunikation mit der Gastgeberin war einfach und Anfragen wurden sehr schnell beantwortet und umgesetzt. Im Haus war soweit alles vorhanden, ein paar Kleinigkeiten haben gefehlt, u. a. eine Kaffeemaschine. Das Haus stand wohl wegen Corona lange Zeit leer und hätte etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit benötigt. Alles in allem haben wir unseren 3-wöchigen Aufenthalt sehr genossen und fühlten uns fast wie zu Hause. Die Ruhe und Privatsphäre am Pool waren sehr erholsam. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

We didn’t want to leave!!

We didn’t want to leave!!

We stayed at Casa Marecol in July 2018 and frankly....didn’t want to leave! The villa was really well kept, comfortable, immaculately clean, well equipped and felt like a home from home. It had lots of character too with the owners art work displayed around the property. The gardens were stunning, peaceful, beautifully maintained and a total pleasure to spend time in. Again there were some lovely personal touches too....like fairy lights around a couple of the specimen plants that came on at dusk. The pool was fab! Although a little too deep at the shallow end for our 5 year old to stand in, we had hours of fun in the pool! It wasn’t heated (we knew that!) but it was warm enough to comfortably swim and play in without the need for a child’s wetsuit. The BBQ was great and we ate at the villa a lot. The only comment that I would make was that the table was at the other end of the property to the BBQ but I guess that could have been overcome by moving the furniture. The villa is near to Alvor which is one of the loveliest places that we have visited in the Algarve. Alcalar itself is a quiet, friendly residential area a short drive away from Alvor so a car is essential. However, we felt that it was a great central base for exploring the rest of the Algarve. It suited us well. Gina, the host was brilliant! She answered all our queries on the run up to our holiday and ensured that all arrangements were without worry. She met us at the villa when we arrived and explained everything that we needed to know and was on hand to answer any queries thereafter about the villa (although we had none!) or things to do. She also arranged for some basis supplies and treats (beer and wine!) for our arrival which we thought was a lovely touch. She made us feel very relaxed and welcome. You could tell that Casa Marecol is much loved and cared for by its owners. We shared that feeling for the ten days that we were there and felt sad to leave! Thank you Gina for making our stay so special!

Wonderful villa!!

Wonderful villa!!

Absolutely lovely villa with all the facilities we needed accommodate a toddler and a one year old, owners couldn't have been more helpful, arranging a camp bed for our daughter and a travel cot for the baby. Pool and garden are beautiful and all the bedrooms are large, comfortable and en suite with excellent showers! Easy to get to beautiful places like Alvor and Lagos, we will definitely book again when we come back to Portugal in future!!

Beautiful well equipped villa!

Part of me doesn't want to leave a review, as would love to keep this villa a secret. However Gina was so helpful and friendly, they deserve the word to be spread on this amazing villa! The villa's location is perfect... Quiet and secluded (but not remote), however only a 10-15minute drive to the beautiful beach of Alvor. (A car is definitely a must to be able to explore this tranquil area). The villa itself is extremely clean and well maintained, a true home from home, which is so well equipped with all manner of crockery, kitchen utensils etc.. The favourite aspect of the villa for all of us was the superb pool (plus the pizza oven/BBQ). The pool was larger than we expected and so much so most days we chose to lounge around the pool before heading out in the evening. We had a slight issue with the pool hose during our stay, which Gina rectified quickly and professionally, with easy contact being made when needed. The only constructive criticism we could give, is although the beds are beautiful high quality pieces of furniture, the mattresses were not to our liking, which did result in a few sleepless nights for all of us. We will certainly be returning as we have only been home a few hours and already miss our 'second home' ☺️.

Spacious, well maintained villa with perfect pool for teens!

We had a great week at casa marecol. The villa was very well prepped for renting, with everything you could need. The kids - and the adults! - loved the pool, which we really needed as it got hotter as the week progressed. Great location for visiting other places. We went to portimao, Lagos, Luz, burgau, silves and monchique. Really interesting area - we will come back to see more. We used the barbecue nearly every day, to the background noise of our own friendly - and very noisy - cricket! Thank you for a lovely holiday.

We had a great stay in Casa Marecol. The villa was beautiful and very spacious for our family of 5. The villa was spotless and very well equipped. Gina, the property manager, was very helpful and welcomed us when we arrived on our first night and had food and drink in the fridge for us. I would recommend anyone staying here hires a car, as it's expensive to get a taxi into Alvor or Portimao. Great holiday and highly recommend Casa Marecol.

Lovely villa in a great location!

The villa is lovely, in a great location. Spacious villa, three bedrooms, very clean and well maintained, kids loved the swimming pool. The location worked well for us as we were easily able to visit either Lagos, Alvor or Portimão. The villa is in a good location. From here you can easily visit Alvor (~10 mins), Lagos (~30 mins) or Portimão (~20 mins) by car. We alternated our daily jaunts basically between Lagos and Portimao. We also took a day out to Praia da Luz, a place we had stayed a few years previous. Hire a car to get around - consider paying the extra full insurance (I was glad I did), as I managed to get a punctured tyre, the roads which tend to be somewhat rough and ready in places! After our day outs we often stopped at the local restaurant ("O Tasco") just up the road for a late night drink after returning back - nice! We also ate there one night, a nice traditional Portuguese restaurant. We would definitely consider returning next year; I think the location worked really well for us. Hope to be back soon....

Have just returned from a wonderful 12 nights stay in this beautiful villa and we were not disappointed! The villa was tastefully decorated throughout and was a real home from home. Comfortable sofas and comfortable beds, what more can you ask for? The photographs and description don't do the villa justice! The gardens and pool area were fantastic! with plenty of seating and sun loungers for everyone! We can recommend trying Solar de Farello, one of the local restaurants for either lunch or dinner. We had 2 fabulous meals there and would have had a third if we could have! We also really appreciated the welcome pack provided on our arrival, what a lovely touch! We booked this villa at short notice and Gina made the process so simple and easy. If we decide to come back to the Algarve we will certainly book this beautiful villa again. The only negative point I can make is that there is no hairdryer in the villa! Other than that everything about Casa Marecol was and is perfect!! Myself and my family had the pleasure of spending 18 wonderful nights in Casa Marecol. From the moment we opened the door of the villa we where not disappointed. We where greeted with a lovely welcome pack which was so appreciated as we arrived late in the evening. The villa itself is just fabulous spacious, well equipped, clean, comfortable and extremely tastefully decorated. We loved the homely feel of the villa from the gorgeous paintings on the walls, the book shelf overflowing with books to the beautiful landscaped garden. My children fell in love with the pool and spent many happy hours playing. There where plenty of sun loungers / parasols by the pool for all of us to relax. The views of the mountains where fantastic and the peace and quiet as we relaxed by the pool was just amazing. We booked the villa with Gina who goes out of her way to make the whole booking process simple. Big thanks to Gina. Casa Marecol is really a special place and you can tell its loved by its owners. We loved it perfect villa in a perfect location.
