Beautiful period property in the centre of town

The location was great, literally the centre of town. The host was full of useful information at check in. Beautiful period building. 2 minute walk to all the pubs and restaurants in the town.

Fantastic

Very authentic and unique get ready to step back in time with all the mod cons this an excellent place to stay in the center of all things close to the center of town you get transported to a time gone past and as you look out of the sitting room windows on to the beautiful square in Kilrush you feel like you are the merchant watching for you goods to arrive in to Capps

Kilrush trip

The period furnishings and internal decorations. The location was great with local shops and pubs. There was an electric blanket that was great to get into a warm bed.

Very cold in November with only small electric radiators in the rooms and a small log burner in the lounge. We could not find any baking trays and the kitchen could be better equipped. The carbon monoxide detector did not work and the batteries in the TV remote needed replacing.

We had a wonnderful relaxing visit, three days

The property is in the town square, Very close for walking in the Vandeleur Estate and also to the marina, supermarkets and restaurants

An information sheet on how things worked would have been a help!

This was excellent accommodation for us.

Not relevant

The owner did say that after a number of years, it did need attention in certain areas. Nothing, major and mostly in the kitchen. It is just wear and tear. It is a wonderful unit of accommodation above a historic old shop/pub. Excellent location in the centre of beautiful Kilrush. Access to West Clare is so easy from Kilrush. All in all, I would book again. Good pub food available within 100 metres.

Good

Staying during the 2nd week of February everything was great except that despite the heating being turned on it was quite cold especially during the night. Should the insulation/ windows be upgraded it would be a great place to stay even in winter.

Elegant home from home

The Merchant's House is an apartment in beautifully-restored Georgian townhouse in the centre of Kilrush, full of charming furniture and pictures in a super location. It's cosy and comfortable and well-equipped throughout with plenty of storage. The owner and his family are great, really welcoming and helpful. We stayed here for ten days and could easily have stayed longer, it just felt like home.
