About this house rental
This is truly a special place for your Boston visit You have the opportunity to stay in a wonderful 19th century house that has been completely renovated.
The House
If you are unfamiliar with Boston, a real home with a garden in the city proper is quite rare. You will find that living in this unique space allows you and your companions to truly relax and enjoy each other's company. It has all the charm you would want including eclectic art, comfortable bedrooms, a fully stocked open floor plan kitchen and a wonderful deck and garden.
The Bedrooms
There are a total of 4 bedrooms, Three are on the second floor and share a bath. They have excellent queen beds with lovely cotton sheets and plenty of pillows. The Master bedroom with a king bed and bath is on the third floor. It's like being in a tree house because you have huge windows. Don't worry, there are blackout shades for a great sleeping experience. If you bring more folks, there is a single Ikea bed as well as two air mattresses if you need them.
The Kitchen and Garden
The kitchen is stocked with everything you'll need. Coffee and tea and perhaps a bottle of something fun will be waiting for your arrival. The deck off the kitchen leads down to your exclusive patio with a grill. If you have kids, the garden is a great place to play while the adults are having drinks on the deck. The place is so quiet that you can hear crickets in the summer. It's sublime.
Why Stay in Jamaica Plain?
Boston has several distinct neighborhoods - each with its own flavor. "JP" is considered the hippest neighborhood in the City, with great restaurants, pubs, bakeries, parks and a subway line that takes you to the major sights in 15 minutes. Don't forget Fenway Park! It's a quick Uber ride away.
The Food
If you're a foodie, you're in the right place. You are only a 7 minute walk to the neighborhood center where you can pretty much get any cuisine that you want - Thai, Mexican, Cuban, Vietnamese, felafel, ramen, breakfast, pub burgers and old time meatloaf- you name it, JP's got it - even Scottish haggis. Third Cliff bakery is a new addition to the neighborhood. Get there early on the weekend and don't let the line intimidate you. It moves quickly. So many choices- go out for a bite to eat or grill dinner or bring back Thai takeout.
The Great Oudoors
Often called "The Eden of America," JP has the largest percentage of greenspace per capita of any large city in the country. Take a walk from the house to Jamaica Pond or the Arnold Arboretum. Or go the other direction and run around the second oldest public golf course in the US at Franklin Park. It's also home to the Zoo.

Very comfortable 4 bedroom home. We enjoyed the great kitchen for cooking, the large table to eat together. The master bathroom was very nicely updated. We enjoyed walking to the T and center street in Jamaica Plain. Parking our rental car on the street was also easy.
Our host provided plenty of towels, linens, shampoo, etc. She was very considerate.

Booked over Fourth of July with my family and we very much enjoyed our stay. The neighborhood is super cute and the house is gorgeous!

This beautiful home was perfect for our family vacation. Margaret was very helpful and kind. Check in was easy and the one time I had to reach out to she was quick to respond. The beds were so comfortable. The house had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio with our morning coffees. The T line was an easy walk that only took a few minutes. The neighborhood was quaint and very safe. There were 8 of us and we had more than enough room. We would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful historic home in a charming neighborhood. We enjoyed our visit to JP, Boston and Providence over a long weekend. Wish I had designated more time to explore the arboretum a 10 minute walk from Margaret’s house. It was spectacular! Thanks for a great stay.

An excellent place to stay to visit Boston. Easy to get around with public transportation from this very nice house.

This is a great location outside of the city, close enough to enjoy all Boston has to offer but far enough to relax in this cute neighborhood. Food and parks are within walking distance. The weather was all sunshine but not too warm. Our host was so kind and communication was great.

Our stay at Margret's was excellent. The house is super cute, well stocked and nicely decorated. A very comfortable space to hang out in. Margret's is super accessible. Would definitely stay there again.

We loved this beautiful house and it was a perfect place for our extended family to relax in between graduation events! Margaret was a pleasure to communicate with. Highly recommended!

Everything was great for our family trip. Margaret has great communication and even when I had questions she immediately answered. The location was good but the traffic was not. We used uber everywhere and I do not recommend renting a car because there’s a lot of one way streets and a little hard to navigate.

GREAT LOCATION / GREAT STAY

Stayed with our daughter and her family to attend our son’s wedding events in West Roxbury, down town, and Somerville. Perfect location. The house has great character and charm with high ceilings, very well maintained. The third floor master bedroom is in the tree tops!

We loved the updates to this wonderful home. The front door deadbolt lock was tricky to unlock the door and for those who plan to dine at home, the kitchen could use more place settings for a family. Otherwise, the stay was relaxing and comfortable. We really enjoyed our time in the Boston area!

We want to say how wonderful our stay was. We loved the area; the eclectic furnishings were wonderful. Even though it was not home, it felt like home. The neighborhood was great, stores & shops were all walking distance, getting into downtown Boston was easy. Again, we can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was.

We stayed in Margaret's Jamaica Plain house for an anniversary trip with our family (8 of us in all). This may be the best VRBO stay we've ever had (and we've had several). Communication was great. The house was exactly as expected after reading the listing and reviews. Margaret went above and beyond, helping to solve a few travel issues (unrelated to the house) that came up for our family. The hospitality, the cleanliness, the neighborhood and the communication all add up to a top tier property.
5.0
The house had all the accommodations as describes on the VRBO property details. Beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with pans, glasses, plates and spices. The train/subway station is about about .4 miles away but it is a nice walk through the park. Only observation for the foliage in the back - it could use a trim.

My family stayed here during my graduation from graduate school. We had a wonderful time staying at the property. The house was beautiful and we loved the recommendations and history our host gave us during the check-in process. We would absolutely stay here again. It's perfect for a family visit.

The house was absolutely gorgeous! Even better than the pictures. The outdoor space was perfect for morning coffee. It easily accommodated our party of 8. The place was well stocked with essentials and the owner left some very helpful instructions and directions for us to easily get around. Quick communication as well.

Family descended upon Boston to celebrate the youngest sibling's college graduation. The house made a great home base! Comfortable and welcoming, it was stated several times what a fantastic home and neighborhood it was! Beds were comfy and kitchen well appointed.
Thank you!

The pictures don’t do it justice. This home is very comfortable and spacious. Getting into the city and airport is very easy. We were a group of 8 friends having a reunion. Each of us drove or flew to Boston. We prefer a home over a hotel as it’s easier to hang out. This home was perfect. Clean and spacious. It’s muck bigger than the photos let on. Very comfortable kitchen. Sadly the weather didn’t cooperate so we weren’t able to use the deck. There were (3) cars in our group and we were able to find parking spaces within a block of the house. Very friendly owner

Perfect base for our family of 6 to meet up with friends in JP. Everything we needed in the house and easy walking to shops and restaurants. Thank you!

A very good 4 bedroom property, extremely well finished and well cared for. Perfect for a multi-generation family. A kind, thoughtful and responsive manager. A safe neighborhood, easy to get around.

The property was one of the best w/great walkability. It is close to transit, greenspaces (Emerald Necklace), restaurants and shops. Several family members worked remotely and some even had "outdoor" offices in a beautiful garden. The kitchen was well-stocked, laundry clean and all the bedrooms were very comfortable, especially the master suite. We'd definitely would stay again, no questions.

Love this location, walked to parks and very easy to relax at the end of the day. Perfect for our activities around the Boston area.

A comfortable house fit my adult family well. Plenty of hot water for showers while getting ready in the morning. Deck was great for unwinding after a busy day. Kitchen appliances and utensils were top notch and well used for breakfast and a couple of meals. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a place to stay in Boston.

This house was perfect for our group. The yard was a nice feature and all the rooms were clean and nice. Would visit again.
5.0
The house provided a lot of space for us to spread out and the yard with the deck and patio were a really nice added bonus. Large bedrooms including a remodeled bedroom on the 3rd floor that provided a nice area for one of the couples to sleep. Fully stocked house with pretty much everything we needed and a great neighborhood to walk around checking out the local stores, restaurants and breweries. Definitely would recommend anyone visiting Boston to stay here.

Had a lovely stay in Jamaica Plain! Historic home with tons of amenities in a quiet neighborhood close to the Orange line, Arboretum, restaurants and shops.

Beautiful property!
House is just as pictured! The metro is very close and walkable. Be aware the stairs are a bear, however the third floor master is a beautiful room. We will definitely recommend this location and stay again.

Awesome House!
The house was perfect for us. We had five people and everyone had plenty of space. The house is clean and fully stocked with everything you need including a beautiful garden and patio where we ate many meals. It’s an older home with so much charm but fully equipped with modern amenities like central a/c. Close to everything in JP and Boston. We would definitely come back again.

We enjoyed our stay in JP. Margaret was a great host. It’s rare to have space in the city.
We enjoyed our stay in Jp.

Two adults and three teens… we had a great stay. House was conveniently located close to great walkable restaurants and subway into the city. Only thing I would change is window coverings for the master bath. Everything else about this house was awesome and as described. Owner was easy and pleasant.
