Fabulous lake property Accurate description of the house, very small but perfect for a couple or small family. The screened in porch was fantastic and the view was beautiful . Such a short walk to a beautiful dock . Perfect location in a very quiet community. We love the property so much that we have already booked a week for next summer.

Easy to rent through VRBO, matched exactly the online listing, but even better in person- awesome dock for gettin sun or chillin under the sun shades. Kids loved swimming, Dad loved fishing, Mom loved all of it and the dogs are now lake lovers too! Great cottage for spending most of your time in the best of all places- on the lake! -Matt

Home was great.

The cottage was perfect for our small family. We spent hours on the new dock. We enjoyed swimming and kayaking in the quiet cove. Ideal location for those who like peaceful settings. There was a nearby marina from which we rented a boat and were able to dock at the cottage. Hosts were very attentive.

This is our second time we stayed at Robert and Donna’s and it was even better than before. The cove, the dock, the cottage, the sunsets. All in one place. Our pup enjoyed paddle boarding with me and she couldn’t be happier (quiet cove, no waves). The cottage has all you need and the screened porch is a perfect hideaway if you get the rainy day. Thank you for sharing your little paradise with us. We hope to be back soon!

This is a very well maintained property, with a lot of warm touches to support the nautical theme. The screened-in porch was comfortable with plenty of seating, with great views of the water and amazing dock. Between the chairs near the fire pit, and plenty of seating on the dock, there's little need to pack any chairs. We appreciated all the flowers on the dock, and hope guests support the owners' wishes to help keep them watered. We enjoyed using the Kayaks provided by the owners, and our son loved jumping off the dock. There was plenty of wildlife on the property, to include a family of ducks that visited the house multiple times a day to enjoy some "critter crunch" that one can pick up at the nearby Food Lion in the pet food area.

We chose Nautical Nook for a short getaway to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. This property exceeded our expectations! It was cozy, very clean and well supplied. (even included travel soaps in the bathroom vanity) The kitchen well outfitted with everything needed (great coffee maker!). The screen porch is comfortable and even had string lighting to create a warm mood at night. The best part is the new dock.. large and comfortable with plenty of seating as well as a storage box with some water floats, etc. The location is on a quieter cove, great for hanging out, swimming, or paddling around in 1 of the 4 provided kayaks. The dock also has solar lighting which was excellent for enjoying the sunsets and cool evenings. Robert and Donna were vey responsive to our questions, even offering to resolve a small issue immediately. And the complimentary bottle of wine was icing on the cake! We hope to return and enjoy Nautical Nook again!

This waterfront home has a large, gently sloping lot down to the water with large private dock, fully furnished with table w/umbrella and chairs along with nice lounger chairs and a love seat and coffee table. So nice! Beautifully landscaped to boot, including the dock!. 4 kayaks and life jackets were such a plus!!!! We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the lake a bit! Bicycles are included as well. The large private cove offers perfect location for kayaking, fishing and swimming. and just sitting on the dock! The large lot was perfect for our dog who slept very well after full days on and in the lake! The home was perfect for our needs and so nicely appointed! 2 bedrooms, so it's not huge, but very comfortable and nicely decorated. The front screened in porch was wonderful and we enjoyed watching skiiers, tubers and boats go by, while watching the birds, including hummingbirds. We couldn't be happier with our get away to A Nautical Nook and we look forward to returning!

The house was clean and neat. Exactly as advertised. Dock was amazing and had chairs and table already down there so we didn't need to carry ours down there. Quiet and beautiful. Owners did tell me ahead of time that they had a plumber coming out right before our check-in to do something with the Well. Later that night we had brownish water and contacted the owners. Robert responded immediately and we talked over the issue to determine that a little dirt probably got in the line when the plumber was working there. He was willing to send someone right out to us, but we decided to wait until the next morning too see if it would clear up. It did and it was smooth sailing after that. I've never rented from anyone so attentive. Definitely a plus! Go to the Nautical Nook.. you won't be sorry!

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Nautical Nook. We read the reviews before booking so we knew what to expect. Positive: The place was very clean. The lake looked wonderful however the weather was a bit cold to enjoy the water. We tried to fish but nothing was biting. We had a good time just hanging out. Negative: The place is very tight, and to many throw rugs. I would recommend doing the entire place in the hardwood flooring. Also recommend removing the dining table and shelf in the kitchen and add an island from the wall under the window with shelving and counter stools for seating. This would open up the place more. The dryer does not work. I washed 2 kitchen towels before leaving. The dryer kept turning off and would not dry. I tried every setting but I think the lint tube maybe blocked and needs cleaned out. Last the cottage needs paint on the exterior. Overall I would recommend the place for a small family up to 4. The porch was nice to hang out while it rained. The best part is the dock and the walk out to the water. I wish it was 20 degrees warmer and we would have been in the swimming hole the entire time.

The home was clean with a well stocked kitchen. The view of the cove was perfect. We had a wonderful visit and would definitely stay there again. Thank you for sharing your sweet lake house with us. It was a delightful weekend.

Great location-nice property. The unit was only partially remodeled. Dryer did not dry cloths-90 minutes still wet!Way too cluttered-so many nic-naks. No need to fill a small place with multiple shelves of stuff.

We couldn’t be more happier! Robert and Donna’s lake cottage welcomed us with open arms. We picked this location not only because it is lake front but also because our fur child was able to come with us. We always look for rentals with dog friendly and easy access to water. This property gives you a boat ramp and a shoreline where your pooch can access the water without hassle. The cottage was very clean with well stocked kitchen. The cove - breath taking. So peaceful and quiet. For most time, we hang out on the dock, fish, swim and kayak. This is the place if you want to get away from your busy life. Robert was very responsive to all our questions. Cute and cozy cottage on an amazing lot! We loved hanging out on the huge dock all day and swimming. We spotted so much wildlife too! Location is very close to SML State Park where we hiked to Turtle Island and also rented a boat. Robert and Donna were very responsive to our questions. Thanks for sharing your home with us...we made so many awesome memories with our daughters! :)

VIEW FROM HOME IS NICE ONCE YOU GET RID OF ALL THE "KNICK KNACKS" SITTING ON THE WINDOWSILL OBSTRUCTING THE VIEW...OWNERS HAVE TOO MUCH CLUTTER THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE..NO PLACE TO PUT YOUR OWN THINGS...NO CLOSETS IN THE HOUSE...NO PLACE TO PUT YOUR GROCERIES AS THE CUPBOARDS ARE CRAMMED WITH UNECESSARY THINGS...HOUSE IS FOR 4 GUESTS AND THERE ARE PLATES/CUPS ENOUGH FOR 20 PEOPLE....TWIN BED HAD 4 QUILTS PILED ON IT...NO WHERE TO PUT THEM...UNDER THE FULL SIZE BED FOUND PAINT CANS/BUILDING MATERIALS...THE NIGHTSTAND HAD AND IRON SITTING ON IT ..AGAIN NO PLACE TO PUT YOUR OWN THINGS...FOUNDS NEWSPAPERS FROM JULY 2...WE WERE THERE AUG 25TH...PLACE NEEDS A GOOD CLEANING OUT OF ALL THE "JUNK"...MESSY...WASHER WHEN SPINNING SOUNDED LIKE THE WALLS WERE GOING TO ALL APART...THE DOCK NEEDS MUCH ATTENTION AS IS MENTIONED IN THE GUEST BOOK SINCE 2010...POSTS READY TO FALL OFF INTO THE WATER....BOARDS THAT ARE LIFTING HAVE BEEN COVERED BY THE OWNER WITH RUGS... THE COVE IS A BUSY ONE WITH NEIGHBORS PLAYING LOUD MUSIC. Just like last year we enjoyed our stay at the Nautical Nook. The location on a quiet finger of Craddock Creek is perfect for water activities and swimming with children. The cleaning crew will have to step up their game; we found old food in the oven, fridge, and clothes in the dryer. The dock will also need some work. The cleats are loose and some the boards are splintered. Robert and Donna, thank you again for sharing your lovely vacation home with us!

Nice cottage in a pretty cove. Dock is great for sun and fun. Screened porch is a great place to relax and yard is perfect for camping chairs and hanging out. Be sure to bring toilet paper, paper towels and trash bags.

Little cottage is what we expected. The dock was not what we expected. Gentleman came to do price while we were there. Had no idea he was coming. But that’s ok. Couldn’t be repaired. But we we figured that out the first day. What wasn’t ok was food left in dishes/pans. Needless to say we didn’t cook. We know our way around the lake; we ate out. A sign over toilet? Stagger water usage. I have a well/septic. I know what that means. Last but not least; poop under bedside table. Purely petrified. Already booked for next year but not here. Take the time to have someone inspect property properly.

This property is really off the road but once you are there, the setting and lake access is lovely. It’s an older cottage and could use some updates but overall it was a nice place. The fishing was great!

Despite it raining all weekend, we had a blast staying at the Nautical Nook. Everything was just as described, clean, cozy, and made for the perfect Girls weekend! Would definitely go back!

We had a great weekend, the weather even cooperated this year, caught a few fish. I think this was our fifth time renting and plan on coming back next year.

Just what we were looking for. A relaxing weekend on the peaceful lake. Comfy furniture, fireplace, well stocked kitchen and nice screened in porch to watch the sun come up and listen to the birds. The state park is very close and we enjoyed a hike by the water. The owners were very nice and helpful.

The owners are awesome, they were flexible with my schedule and responded quickly. We tried to leave the place better than we found it, thanks again!

First impression is it's a cottage, so yes it was musty smelling and while there were many air fresheners scattered around, it wasn't enough to help. There were several non-negotiables on the property for me. First, no toilet paper. Really, roll was at the end and there was none to be found so first thing we had to do was head to a store to purchase toilet paper. Not a good first impression. There was also very little water pressure in the shower. The bath water was fine but the shower was a different story. For someone trying to shampoo their hair, you had to use the tub facet to rinse it out. Again, non negotiable. Soft soap dispenser in the bathroom was nothing more than green water. Just throw it out and not replace it people. It's better than trying to make it look like you're providing all the amenities when you're really not. Mattress in main bedroom needs to be replaced. Very poor condition which made sleeping difficult. Lastly, having to take our trash with us when departing, come on now. Why am I having to pay for cleaning when I have to take my own trash to the dump, which is not very close. Again, non-negotiable. Those kinds of details are something that should be shared up front, not when you arrive and read the book. On the plus side, it was on a quiet street and close to the park so for those wanting to spend time at the park, the location was great for that. They did provide kayaks and bikes although due to weather we didn't use either. All in all, fair at best for this location.

A very pretty location and setting. Couldn't use the boat launch because my boat is too big, too many low tree branches. The cabin is very cute.

We had a wonderful and very relaxing long weekend at the Nautical Nook. Our kids especially enjoyed jumping off the dock, swimming, and kayaking. We will be back for sure.
