We are ruined for the rest of our lives! Where are we every going to get a holiday destination like it again? From the moment we crossed the front door we just couldn’t believe our good fortune. The house is amazing and so spacious with an amazing terrace, sea views and a great pool. I am a firm believer that you should not stay anywhere if it’s not at least as good as your own home. And boy this ticks the boxes. Mara, our host and owner of the property, greeted us to show us around the house and was on hand for the duration of our stay if there was anything we needed, and she was so helpful and such a delightful person. The house is fully equipped with everything you might need. It’s just like a home and not a holiday let. Mara did advise us that a car is needed and she was right. Unfortunately, this was not an option for us and was the only downside. On a positive note, Victor, the taxi driver that Mara recommended was always available to us, was most reliable and efficient. Truly an amazing villa. We were so lucky to have this little piece of paradise for 77 nights. One of the most exceptional and charming homes we have ever rented. It's also one of those (rare) moments where you can believe all the reviews. Have faith, you won't be disappointed - and you'll fall in love with Mara. We did and still are. Thank you Mara: Somehow, we're sure we will see you again! The location, decor, view are all spectacular. Did we mention the view. What you see in the listing photos is what you get - and more. So much eye candy from the terraza; the sea, the town, the mountains. Kitchen was well equipped (for example, we cooked a turkey dinner for four). Beds are comfy and there's plenty of storage. Check in and out was a breeze and Mara was always available on WhatsApp to help with recommendations and answers to questions. Our stay was December to March, so you will benefit from the installed heaters and portable gas units in the evening. However, being south facing, the sun warms most rooms during the day. Salobreña is a locals town that gave the impression of being 'unspoilt', exactly what we wanted. It is also less than 1 hour to Granada and only just over an hour to Malaga. Perfect. Don't be surprised if you spend hours and hours staring over the balcony. The light, the colours, the panorama changes so much it will keep you looking. Dont hesitate, just book it ;-)

Hard to put it into words. We had a beautiful week, really comfortable and relaxing. Our baby wasn't walking yet so the infinity pool and low walls were absolutely fine for us. We watched the sunrise from bed and the sunset from the amazing 180 degree view terrace. Everything in the house is beautifully designed and works great. We had no problems at all. The nearby towns were lovely for little trips, although you do have to drive everywhere as the road isn't pedestrian friendly. Mara greeted us and was as lovely as her house! I think our favourite thing was the view - it's really special. Wish we were still there now!

Dort angekommen wurden wir sehr herzlich von Mara empfangen. Das Haus ist ein wahr gewordener Traum: Die wunderschöne Terrasse mit einem atemberaubenden Blick auf das Meer. Das Haus selber ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und mit viel Liebe dekoriert. Wir haben einen wunderbaren Urlaub verbracht, es hätte nicht besser sein können! Wir kommen gerne wieder! The villa is stunning. You feel like wafting around in white all day. Very clean and comfortable. Pool lovely for a few swims a day and as infinity pool you can rest your head on the side to watch the world go by. Cannot fault the villa at all. The area was a little more busy than we had anticipated as we usually go to islands on holiday that are quieter and not a busier resort town with main road nearby. Still lovely and a good choice of restaurants in Salobreña.

A bright airy property with views to die for, and a beautiful outdoor space.

Mara the owner of the villa was very friendly and accommodating. She showed us around the villa which is one of the most beautiful holiday home we have stayed in. The property is decorated in a mix of items from asia in white washed palette which blends in perfectly with the with village. The view is to die for! Waking up in the morning to be greeted with crisp clean sea view, sunshine and blue sky is amazing. We had one lovely evening dinning on the balcony watching the sunset, nothing more can be asked for. There are several good restaurants by the sea. Our favourite is El Piñon. There are 2 places where we stumble up on on the return from the ruin. Unfortunately I don’t remember what it was called. It is in a square at the bottom of the ruin. The waiter was very friendly and cheerful. Food is ok but the location is fantastic. Another place we liked was Pesetas. It is near the old ruined castle. It has fantastic view of Salobreña and food was quite good. It was clear to be popular among the locals. Sitting there soaking the noise and sounds of the local conversations was a truly Spanish experience.

Mara's property is wonderful, full of antiquities from around the world, areas of recluse and large social gathering points. Probably the best view in Andalusia greets you when entering the pool area. Nestled in the mountainside the view over the bay is breathtaking, a magnificent air display at dawn and dusk by the flight of local Swallows just adds to the appeal of this property. The bedrooms are really romantic and the bathrooms are both quirky, extravagant and functional. We had a marvelous stay and look forward to booking again in the near future. Mara was the perfect host and her tips and local advice were brilliant.

The villa was perfect for a secluded getaway, out of season.

High up overlooking the sea and old castle the villa is well placed to enjoy your stay. The house is lovely with good separation on the rooms which all have a great view. Kitchen is well appointed with everything you need for indoor or outdoor dining at home. Was a bit cool on our stay to enjoy the pool and we had to use the portable heaters in the mornings to warm things up but for March it was expected. Would highly recommend for a relaxing stay still within easy reach of Granada (<1 hour drive), Malaga (1.25 hrs) and the entire coast. Nerja caves are a great attraction for kids and are just 30 mins away. Lots to see and do in the area.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience staying at this property in Salobrena! Mara was a kind and generous host who answered so many questions for us prior to our trip, and remained in regular contact throughout our stay. The vacation property is a spectacular, immaculately clean home that would easily sleep a large family. Mara has a flare for design and has used it to create a bright open space that is relaxing, inviting and comfortable. It is located at the top of a mountain and has a breath taking view of the ocean from every room in the house. It is a 10 minute drive from Salobrena, or a 20-30 minute drive from other charming towns such as Frigiliana, or Nerja. It is also a stone’s throw from Grenada, where we went for two days during our stay. The home is well equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay. It is located among many interesting towns and places to explore on day trips. By the end of our stay Mara felt much more like a friend, than our host and we will be sure to return to this spectacular gem of a vacation rental! It will not disappoint!

This beautiful villa surpassed all of our expectations. The comfortable and spacious accommodation is furnished beautifully and has the most incredible views imaginable - completely breathtaking! To top it all Mara is the perfect host. Throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble and Mara was exceptional when one of our party injured themselves on a day out. She recommended a great Doctor, provided assistance with medical translations and even arranged taxis to take us to hospital. Mara really was an absolute Godsend! It is not only the fabulous accommodation but Mara's kindness and generosity that have made this a truly memorable holiday. We will definitely be back and will recommend to all of our family and friends. This is a hidden jewel not to be missed!

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at this villa. The 360 degree views are breathtaking as is the pool area. Inside, the rooms were all beautifully clean and comfortable. Our only advice would be to families with babies or very small children that due to low rise walls and drops down, you wouldn’t be able to take your eyes off them for a second. Our youngest is 6 and we watched her like a hawk but she also understood it was dangerous to go near the edges so kept away and was far happier playing in the pool, reading on the loungers or playing on the grassed area. We only left the villa once for our entire week as it was just too lovely to leave. A perfect villa for total relaxation. Thank you very much.

My wife and I have just spent and unbelievable week at this amazing property! I cannot say enough about Mara and all she does to make your stay as pleasant and perfect as it can be. The minute you set foot in the doorway you know you are in for a real treat. The interior of the house is more beautiful than the pictures. And from looking at the pictures that is hard to beat. As you move through the property it just keeps getting better. All the appointments she has brought into the house are just beautiful. Bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas. All are stunning with breath taking views from every room. Then you walk out onto the terrace and gaze out into the blue Mediterranean. I think I have found that " heaven on earth" place. The infinity pool is the exclamation point to this property. Its just Perfect. Our week was highlighted by pristine weather. The location of the property is central to most everything you may wish to do. You are so close to so many things. We went hiking in the mountains just to the north and visited several of the quaint "Pueblos Blancos". Almunacar is a cute beach town full of fun and lively restaurants. Salobrena, which is just down the hill is a lovely town also with two pretty beaches and several nice dining options. Granada, an unbelievably cool town with the world famous Alhambra, is just a short 40 minute drive away. Perfect day trip. And then there were the days we just Hung Out. Although the house is located in an established neighborhood you will feel a sense of complete privacy. As I mentioned earlier, Mara is a wonderful host. She will do everything in her power to make your stay an enjoyable experience. She is never more than a phone call away. I cannot recommend this place more. It is by far the most beautiful rental we have ever stayed in. Thank you Mara for this special opportunity.

Sometimes it is hard to say why a place is so special. It is the ancient mountains, the blue of the sea, the breeze, the birds, the trees. It is this house, the way it sits on the hill, it's design and it is Mara, her love of beauty, of peace, of the East. An amazing week in a stunning situation, a beautiful Silver Anniversary and two very content teenagers. Thank you, Mara, we will never forget!

Mara and her beautiful home are both wonderfully warm and gracious! The view is the most spectacular we have ever seen. It was amazing to wake up to it every day. We slept with the sliding doors open to experience the beautiful Mediterranean breezes. The bedrooms are all private & the porches are lovely. The kitchen is fully equipped with various spices & supplies. The pool is incredible! We are a family of 7 plus a baby. Mara graciously allowed 7 rather than 6 and provided a daybed for our youngest son. Salobrena is a beautiful, charming and surprisingly "untouristy" town. We took day trips from our perch at Mara's place to Malaga, Morocco, Nerja & El Caminito Del Rey in El Chorro. An unbelieveable experience for our family! You will not be disappointed if you go!!

It's challenging in the world of online exchanges to always be sure of what you are getting. Photos don't always tell the real story and you are never sure who you are working with. Let me assure you with 100% confidence that La Almendra Blanca is just as gorgeous and magical in person, if not more so. Mara, the owner, is incredible. We felt like guests in a friends home rather than renters. She helped us set up special plans and gave us advice, ideas and stayed in touch before and during our trip with any questions or concerns we had. I had trouble on my end with the bank transfer and she was overly accommodating, generous and kind. We had originally planned many activities during the week there but ended up canceling most to enjoy the beauty and serenity that can only be found in Mara's dream home. The views from every point in the house will take your breath away- you will feel like you are living in a photo shoot that is cozy and charming just like home. You must also go in to town and dine at La Bahia- an incredible place with wonderful hosts and a view you could only imagine in your dreams. Every corner and nook of the home is filled with beautiful pieces of art or fabric or plant life that Mara has loving curated over the years. The care and detail put in to this home are unparalleled. I have stayed in beautiful houses on four continents and this was by far my favorite. This home is forever etched in our hearts, as is Salobrena and mostly our dear Mara. The home has comfortable beds, great showers and all the little amenities you could want or need from a washer to beach umbrellas to a garlic press and more. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this home and honestly- words cannot accurately describe the magic this place holds. The location on the top of a hill with complete privacy was perfect. We loved the typical Andulisian town of Salobrena with many shops and restaurants. We never got tired of the view of the sea, the castle, Salobrena and the Sierra Nevada mountains. We have stayed at a few beautiful villas in Europe over the last few years and this one is by far our favorite!

We thought the pictures were too good to be true; but when we walked into the villa; our jaws dropped! It was more beautiful than we thought! Mara was also just as beautiful a person. She met us there and showed us everything; gave us tips on where to go and even put fresh flowers on our beds and had a beautiful basket of treats for us! What a personal touch! The views are amazing and the beautiful white town was breathtaking. We could even see a castle from our villa; which the men climbed up to while us women shopped and sipped on "Tinto de verano" our new favorite drink!!!! The villa is close to Malaga; Granada; Marbella; Sevilla; which we visited all!! I can't thank Mara enough for being such a beautiful person and giving us this wonderful opportunity to stay in this lovely villa with such beautiful Zen ambiance and perfection as far as location and villa itself. We are already planning to go back for our anniversary and a girls trip with my sisters! Cannot wait! You will not be disappointed when you come visit this place!
