We had a wonderful family gathering at this lovely old Captains house. The views were truly wonderful.

My family which included 6 children (10 months - 10 yrs) four parents and two grandparents came to this beautiful home for our first family vacation since COVID. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from enjoying morning coffees on the balcony listening to the waves to suppers enjoying the sunsets. The kids liked watching the fog roll in and out. The kids loved meeting the neighbors who have a farm. They had great fun adopting the goats and petting the turkeys. We loved the rocky and sandy beaches. The house had more than enough room and lots of room outside for running around and playing. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. We put some extra curtains up over the blinds in hopes that the kids would sleep in a little later, which did help. Thank you Paula for a wonderful family holiday

5 Navy Viet Nam vets and our wives had our annual reunion at the home. What a great place to have this type gathering we arrived from 4 states. All of completely enjoyed the property and visiting numerous points of interest in the region. What a beautiful place in a awesome setting one none of us will forget !

Property was just as advertised. A beautiful and quiet retreat where one can get lost in all the best ways. Plenty to see and do between the bay and surrounding hiking areas.

My 8 year old described our vacation as “8 days in paradise!” Starboard Maine is heavenly, peaceful, beautiful coast. We felt spoiled to wake up to the ocean every single day. The private beach was perfect and there are many other places to explore. Paula was just lovely and so helpful. Make sure to visit the farm next door! Carmine and his family will make you wish you lived there! We loved lobsters and clams from the local fishermen and baked goods from local farm stands. We didn’t want to leave. More than enough room and absolutely everything you need to cook at home everyday if you wish. We celebrated my parents 60th birthday all week and hope to Come back soon!

My family and I spent a very nice, relaxing, comfortable week at the property. The location is beautiful and remote and private. The house is old and spacious with a lots of character. We had seven adults and two infants here for a week long stay. While the house may not have finest, newest decor, it has an a lot of historical charm. Wifi and Internet connectivity was so-so, but about what you'd expect in a remote location.

Property was all it was advertised to be. We were 6 adults n we all had plenty of space n not crowded. Beds very comfortable and kitchen had everything you could ever want or need to cook with. We had Lobsters delivered to the house. A beautiful view of the Ocean. An enjoyable week.

Great house in a beautiful location and just can't beat the views! A little traveling gets you to many worthwhile places to see without the heavy traffic of the southern coast.

A great place to get away from the daily fast paced atmosphere. The view is beautiful!

Perfect getaway for our whole family ages 10 months to 66. We had an amazing time. The property is beautiful and well kept. The ocean is stunning. Would recommend!

This is a beautiful old house with a huge front porch overlooking the bay and ocean. It is quiet and serene, a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Susceptible to fog now and then, but temperatures generally in the 70s during the summer days, mid 60s at night. Pauls is a wonderful host.

We loved our stay at the Captain's House! What a treasure - it was like visiting Granny's house. Beautiful, large, and perfect for our family of five. We all delighted at the outdoor shower, walking the shoreline in front of the house, and visiting local sites including Jasper Beach, Roque Bluffs, West Quoddy Lighthouse and Acadia. There was plenty of space to spread out - enough that three teenagers (14, 17 & 19) were all able to have their own space each day. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This large multi-bedroom house sits right across from the ocean with beautiful views framed by the windows in every room. Comfortable beds, kitchen with everything you need (though dishwasher has to be hooked up - we just did them by hand). Beautiful walks close to the house and Machias with restaurants and cute shops was less than 20 minutes by car. So much to do in the area outdoors, but our favorite times were as a family sitting on the deck, watching the ocean.

~ Very nice place, excellent view of the bay. A lot of local history in the area. Beds are very comfy, kitchen is well equipped. The house it’s self has a lot of history, recommend to look up and read about it. Watching out in the water, you can see seals popping up at times. We even had deer come up on our first day, and the day we left. ~

My family and my brother-in-law and his family stayed here for a week, the location was perfect. Beach out front was great, attractions close by, grocery store not too far away. everything you could possibly need as far as cooking or bedding or anything like that was in the house.

The property is beautiful. The view breathtaking. The house well stocked with any type of pan and dish and Utensil you will ever need. We forgot sugar for our coffee, it was there. The bed linens were very nice and the beds were comfortable. We saw a seal sunning itself on the rocks out in front. There were hummingbirds flying around the catmint. After all of our picture postings I believe I have many friends who will be booking this property. Thank you Paula for sharing your beautiful property I’m sure we will be back

The Sea Captains House was complete bliss to our family. We loved hearing the calming waves and the serene beauty of Machiasport. The house was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. We didn't want to leave and hope to be back soon for blueberry season.

The property is very private and picturesque. Having morning coffee or evening cocktails on the deck was the best!

What a wonderful week we had at the Captain's House! Walks along the gravel road, watching the tide rolling in, and walking the beach area were some of my favorite times there. The locals were some of the sweetest people I have met. One gave us a tour of the old school house that is just a few steps away from the house. Thank you Paula for letting us enjoy your property. Had a wonderful time in Starboard. There is an outdoor shower that was great during a cool morning/evening. Nice and quiet property with amenities close enough to keep you in vacation mode without having to go without "needs".

This was the best place to stay, beautiful setting, wonderful accommodations, everything you could want at your fingertips. Did NOT want to come home.

We just returned from our stay and my family is already planning a return trip with even more family members. The house is a lovely old house with plenty of character and room to spread out. The kitchen is very well equipped. There is a closet of games enough to keep everyone busy. I have never been quite this far up the coast. The area is very quiet and relaxing but there is so much to do as well. My husband spent several days on Gardner Lake locked in epic battles with the fish (the fish won). We kayaked down from the Gates House in Machiasport to the house twice. It was a fun trip although I wouldn't recommend it to inexperienced kayakers. Just past Buck's Harbor, the water does get more challenging. The coastline is beautiful with rocky ledges and crashing waves. Hopefully next time, we will be able to explore some more of the bay. My son wants to kayak over to inspect the fish farm. The beach in front of the house was great with some beautiful rock formations with purple and white stripes. My kids enjoyed the beach area especially the area heading over to Starboard Island when the tide is low. We saw seals in front of the house as well as when we were kayaking. We also saw two bald eagles, osprey and my nephew saw three moose when he went to pick up our clams. We hiked the Bold Coast trail and drove to Campobello. Check out the obervation area near FAA station. You can look out over Jasper Beach and beyond. My family has been vacationing in Brooklin, Maine for many decades. Everyone was a little skeptical about coming further north but now we are a family of converts. The area really is like Maine was 50 years ago (okay 47 years ago when I first came).
