Casa do Candeeiro, meaning "The Lamp House" in english, it's an antique house from the XVIII century, perfectly located at a very quiet nature surrounded corner within the old city center.
The house is antique but fully remodelled, containing three bedrooms, renewed toilet in 2024, a modern and fully equipped kitchen, a living room with fireplace, patio and garden with barbecue and panoramic views over the castle
The visitors will find a house full of light, privacy, great energy with a peaceful environment, full of exotic singing birds in the garden during the day and the relaxing beauty of silence in the night.
The house is surrounded with all kind of attractions within the castle walls, such as, museums, monuments, restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, guiding tours, historical churches, and etc.
Outside the castle walls, you can enjoy some hiking or bicycle routes, the Óbidos Lagoon, and many beaches, such as Baleal, Peniche, Bom sucesso, Nazaré, Foz do Arelho.
There is also a very rich and diverse cultural agenda, which includes expositions, concerts, performances, and during some periods of the year there are amazing events being developed inside the village, such as the medieval market, chocolate festival, Christmas village, and others..
Inside the village there is a bakery, some coffee shops and many restaurants, and 5 minutes walking from the walls there's a big supermarket with all products you may need.

If I could rate this 6 stars, I would! Located just inside the Medieval wall surrounding the town of Obidos, the apartment was easily accessible from one of the entrances. Our gracious host, Rodrigo was an excellent communicator prior to our arrival and helped us with our luggage and getting settled. He even offered to make a dinner reservation for us which we greatly appreciated. A very comfortable bed, a cozy living room / dining area with fireplace and plenty of firewood, a well equipped kitchen, lovely modern tiled, new bathroom with lots of hot water. The apartment has been lovingly maintained with all the comforts and only enhanced our experience of this not to be missed Medieval Town. Highly recommend!

Staying in Óbidos was the highlight of our trip, and it should have never happened. Our scheduled VRBO did not give us entry and was unresponsive. I messaged a couple places last minute to see if anyone could help and was quickly accommodated by the incredibly gracious hosts here.
This is the only VRBO I've ever stayed at that felt like a home. There are ample kitchen supplies, living plants, interesting pieces of art and decor, and a full patio garden that is obviously cared for.
I had considered this place before booking but didn't because of the one bathroom. Knowing I was traveling with three teens means getting out of the house is always a challenge. I shouldn't have worried. Maybe we didn't get out quite as quickly, but it didn't matter.
Right out the front door is an incredibly rich community to explore. Shops, history, and just a beautiful setting to enjoy at your leisure. I was perfectly happy to wander while the kids took all the time they wanted.
I'm glad my original plans didn't work out. It turned what would have been a challenging experience into an absolute joy, and I thank the hosts and housekeeping staff whole heartedly for that.

The property was amazing. Close proximity to the castle, cute little patio, nice garden. The rooms were large. The host was amazing! I even met his wonderful mother who loaned me an umbrella. Couldn't ask for anything more of a property.

The charm of staying within the walls. We especially enjoyed being in the garden...we were fortunate with excellent weather. Obidos was our favorite part of our 2 week trip...though we loved all of Portugal!

The location was great. Close to castle gate for easy check in, wonderful views from back private garden and a short walk to all the shops and restaurants. Such a unique property inside the castle walls.

We loved the magical experience of stepping back in time in this 300 year old home that has been lovingly upgraded to meet the comforts of the 21st century. Tastefully blended with contemporary art while maintaining old world charm, the home meanders and winds much like the town. The backyard is a lovely place to take a day off from walking on cobblestones swaying in the hammock watching the clouds go by and gazing at the fairytale castle walls and charming neighboring homes. Rodrigo is a perfect host, communicating promptly with kindness. I wish we could have stayed longer and hope to come back.

This beautiful historic home situated within the castle walls in Obidos exceeded our expectations. The home has spacious and full of old world charm and has a lovely & very scenic backyard to relax in when done exploring the old Castle town of Obidos. We would love to visit again one day.

Wow, so amazing! Rodrigo was so helpful with a short-notice reservation, and the only sad part is that we were not able to stay longer and enjoy everything available in the home!
Perfect location, close to everything inside the castle walls, and so peaceful and quiet, it was the best sleep I had in a long time!
If you stay here, plan on a garden picnic, and watching a fun movie with a small fire crackling behind you!
Unforgettable! Bravo!

The apartment is in an old house in an ancient walled city . So you have to expect some quirkiness . The inlaid wooden floors were gleaming and the balcony doors opening to the street was charming . When the horse drawn cart walked by you stepped back in time . This house is located within the walls but a bit away from the bustle of the retail area. It is an easy 100 mts. Away . The furnishings were electric and a bit out of character but imagine they were from Asian travels . The bathroom is a bit of a let down . While clean it had an accordion door and really could Use some updates. The kitchen tiny bit functional . The best part was the little patio garden where we spent our mornings and evenings. The back garden with lime trees and some grass area to stretch out . Rodrigo was very attentive and responded to my requests immediately. Overall a charming stay in a beautiful setting

A great home inside the walls of Óbidos. The home is spacious and well appointed and has a nice yard and patio. Communication and coordination was easy. We would stay at this property again when visiting Óbidos.

Un lugar privilegiado para disfrutar de Óbidos
Esta casa tiene dos puntos fuertes: su ubicación, dentro de las murallas de Óbidos pero accesible en coche, y un maravilloso jardincito desde el cual se puede disfrutar de una barbacoa con vistas a las murallas y a los tejados del resto de casas que forman parte de este fantástico pueblo. El interior de la casa es correcto, pero no tiene un encanto especial (que sí tiene el jardín o la fachada de la casa). No me gustó demasiado que una habitación preparada para cuatro personas (tiene 2 literas) fuese interior y no tuviese ventilación exterior, ni el estado de la bañera, ya que tiene muchas manchitas (no es que esté sucia, sino que son marcas que se habrán ido haciendo con los años, pero da un poco de reparo). Sería muy interesante que instalasen mosquiteras, porque las moscas son especialmente pesadas y había que ir con mucho cuidado de no abrir más que lo justo las ventanas y la puerta del jardín. También me gustaría decir que en el jardín tienen un gato, porque puede ser una información decisiva para algunos huéspedes (alérgicos o que tengan fobia). La verdad es que el gato es muy amistoso y mis hijos lo adoraban, pero también hay que decir que tuve que limpiar caca de gato de sus zapatos dos veces. No obstante, en conjunto me parece un buen alojamiento y repetiría sin dudarlo porque el encanto de la terraza/jardín es una maravilla y también su ubicación dentro de Óbidos, muy cerca de la concurrida calle principal, pero en una zona súper tranquila. Además, el propietario es encantador, muy agradable y accesible para cualquier cosa que necesites.

Fantastic place to stay in the heart of Óbidos
The apartment was a wonderful place to stay in Óbidos. It was spacious and in close walking distance to everything. The back garden was lovely for picnics and Rodrigo was a very attentive host. He always got back to us quickly and had great recommendations for places to eat. We would definitely return again!

A step back in time with all of the modern conveniences....
A beautiful apartment/house within the castle walls.... A great experience to be right in the center of things for my husband, myself and our adult daughter. Rodrigo was terrific in recommending things to do and where to eat. Thank you for setting up dinner at Jamon Jamon. It was perfect and we were treated like 'special guests'. The apartment/more like a house, was spacious, comfortable and the lovely back garden area was so perfect for leisurely breakfasts with a freshly picked plumb from the tree and a glass of port in the evenings. 'Bob' the cat was a good yard companion. The beds were comfortable, with a cool gentle breeze coming in through the balcony doors and it was very quiet and calm. We would definitely return!

Perfect!
We had an amazing time in Obidos in this lovely home. The space was large enough for all six of us and the best part was the gorgeous back yard with hammock. Perfect spot to relax. The location was great as well as our host. Would highly recommend!

A unique property away from the crowds.
The house was large - 3 bedrooms. It was clean and had a mixture of styles including treasures from Asia and Africa. The floors were old wood polished to a glow. We enjoyed coffee on the lovely small patio outfitted with table and two chairs. And from that patio steps lead to a green space with grass, plants and seating areas. The view from the green space was incredible.
Yet one street away was action-packed: restaurants, gift shops and cafes. And tourists. We felt completely safe during our stay.
Please note that this charming town is hilly and stone streets take a while to adapt to. Wear sensible shoes if you're over 18.

We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful house. The house was newly renovated, very clean and cozy. Rodrigo has a beautiful house which is set in a very relax, tranquil and safe neighborhood. This house was perfect for our trip! It was well decorated, stocked with essentials and clean. We were very pleased with all aspects! Rodrigo responded quickly to any of our queries as well as provided very good advice and recommendations. The house is ideally located if you wish to visit the area or simply relax in the garden and look on the Castle. Parking near the house is free and causes no problems at all. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone!

Very cool place, narrow, cobblestone streets in a medieval village with a castle, close, 30 min-ish from several great beaches, Sintra and Lisbon.
Rodrigo, the owner, is great to work with, responds promptly to all questions and goes out of his way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The garden is great, with two plum trees, swing, hammock and great views! It's all strongly recommended and we'd be happy to stay there again.
