Stayed at the cottage with my family and friends for a flawless week in August. It’s a lovely historic home in the center of Port Clyde. My kids loved the game room and upstairs bedroom, which they basically converted into their own loft apartment. The deck has FANTASTIC views of an honest-to-God Maine fishing harbor and spectacular sunsets over the water. We were also able to kayak off the deck at high tide.
The house is really comfortable and well appointed; linens, cookware, beach stuff, etc, everything we needed. House is also set up well for a group, it’s bigger than it seems in photos and kinda feels like 3 separate houses when everyone goes to bed. Karan and Jerry are gracious hosts and very responsive.
Location is awesome, right in Port Clyde village, a short walk to ice cream, dinner, and coffee, and a quick bike ride to the drift inn beach or the lighthouse. My kids picked hermit crabs and paddle boarded for hours. Great bike riding around the peninsula. Quick drive to Rockland and about 40 mins to Camden if you want to do the tourist thing.
I was worried that there would be “traffic” or that” it would be “busy” right in the village, which is hilarious once you realize how quiet Port Clyde actually is. House is about 200 yards from the Monhegan Ferry but was basically pin drop quiet at all times. Ocean House across the street has great breakfast. Would definitely go back.

We enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room. Kids enjoyed the ping pong table. At least until I crushed them. Nice quiet area. Convenient little shop next door to pop over to for ice cream.

This place was great for our family's much needed break with rest, relaxation, and fun. Port Clyde was so cute. The views from the house were great. The host was very helpful. We would love to come back sometime.

This was our third year staying at this oceanfront retreat. The property is very clean and well-stocked. The owners are incredibly accommodating, responsive, and friendly. Between swimming off the dock, crabbing, kayaking, fishing, and cooking lobsters by the water, this is the ideal location to get away from it all and embrace the serenity and beauty of Port Clyde. Thank you for another memorable summer vacation!

The overview of this property is spot on ~ We couldn’t have been happier with the house, views and location.
Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful home!

Staying in the village of Port Clyde was perfect for our families. This house had everything we needed and more. We got a chance to meet Karan, the owner, and we heard about the wonderful history of the house. The proximity to everything was amazing and our pre-teen and teen crew loved the independence of going to places on their own. The sunsets that we got to watch from the deck were spectacular! Being so close to Drift Inn beach, the Ferry and boat tours, and Marshall Point light was a bonus. You can’t beat being right next to the ice cream shop! It is a wonderful place!

This house has it all: steps to all Port Clyde has to offer, a dramatic view of incredible sunsets across the St. George River, and a front row seat to the wonders of the ocean. The property comes with all you could ask for a relaxing getaway in an incredible location. We HIGHLY recommend this property to anybody looking to experience the charm and beauty of St. George.

We had a magical week in Port Clyde, staying at the Cushman cottage. The house was perfectly situated just a couple of steps from the Adorable ice cream shop and general store. The kids spent the day, jumping off the dock and playing on their kayaks, while we watch the fishing and lobster boats, come and go. Absolute perfection! The Cushman family could not have been more hospitable and welcoming, and we will be sure to return.

Thanks to COVID and complications we finally were able to have a wedding celebration that was to happen 2 years ago! Karen was so wonderful in helping me adjust my year and dates twice! Always very responsive, she helped accommodate my changes. We had a great place to gather for my family and the close proximity to Tenants Harbor made it a perfect location. A good group took a fantastic trip to Monhegan, others went to a beach or walked around the village. The house was roomy, clean and a great gathering place for our family. Thank you Karen for a great rental!

Beautiful views of the fishing harbor from a lovely deck. The living room was very comfortable with ample seating so all could be reading their books at the same time! Kitchen is very well-equipped and the game room saw a good amount of pingpong played.

We really enjoyed this house. The house is truly charming. The space is very comfortable. My husband and I and our 17 year son were on the one side and my 20Yo daughter had the loft to herself. It worked out great for all My Husband hated the stairs - maybe bc he’s tall. But I loved them! The house is built like a ship with little doors and cubbies everywhere. Terrific use of space. And the sunsets are phenomenal!! Oh, and ping pong was a great addition !Close Right in the center of small port Clyde. But even my husband who is always in search of a pub was happy.

We absolutely loved our trip to Port Clyde and our stay in the Cushmans' house. The location was fabulous. We enjoyed walking down to the town/harbor each morning for coffee (Squid Ink) and breakfast treats (general store). It was about a two minute walk to everything in town. We also walked next door for ice cream practically every day. There is a barn in the small town where we enjoyed cocktails. We also took the ferry from the harbor to Monhegan Island, which was beautiful. The place has its own dock, and during high tide, you can take out kayaks or paddle boards. We spent a lot of time on the back deck - plenty of space for our party of 7. Big lobster dinner on the deck. Gorgeous views, especially at sunset. The kids also really enjoyed the ping pong table. Hours of fun! There is a beach nearby that we loved, and of course the lighthouse is very close, too. Our hosts went out of their way to accommodate us. They were prompt in answering any questions and we had the absolute best experience!

From the initial booking, the property owners communicated regularly and provided helpful recommendations in the weeks leading up to the trip. They were accessible to answer any questions and clearly wanted to ensure we had a great visit to Port Clyde. The home was spacious and very well-stocked with everything (and then some). The kids especially loved the ping-pong table. The location was, simply put, perfect. The deck off the back provided sweeping views of the harbor, while the docks provided hours of fun fishing, crabbing, and the perfect spot to put in our kayaks (thank you Port Clyde Kayaks!!). We bought lobsters from Spinner at Off the Dock before watching the sun set across the Saint George River and stargazing (even saw the International Space Station and Starlink satellites among the constellations). Within a very short walk to Village Ice Cream, the General Store, Dip Net, yet still just a slightly longer walk to Marshall Point and Drift Inn Beach, this was the perfect location. Thank you, Gerry and Karan for helping provide the setting for a perfect week in Port Clyde!

We stayed in this lovely property for my daughter’s wedding. The space was perfect! Everyone has their own space, the view was wonderful and we had a lively ping pong competition!
Great place!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Port Clyde house. Lots of room, fresh and bright, well equipped with kitchen supplies as well as towels, etc. The deck is wonderful, with views of the harbor and the location right in Port Clyde is perfect. It was great for our multi-generational family. One note, for those for whom it might matter, there is a step down into the first floor bedroom, and the bathroom is in another part of the house. Also a step in the living room. These are well marked.

We had such a fun time here b/c being in the village of Pt Clyde was super convenient, and the house had a game room with a ping pong table! We played every day in between fun activities - kayaking, getting coffee at Squid Ink, taking the ferry to Monhegan Island (we walked to the ferry easily from the house), etc. Great times! And Karan was super responsive.

If you are looking for a true Maine getaway this is the spot for you. Especially if you have a family. Walking distance to all the fun things Port Clyde has to offer.

The village of Port Clyde is lovely, and Karen our hostess was great! The house was big enough for our whole group, and the young adults really enjoyed the game room with the ping pong table! The bathrooms were a bit small , but the rest of the house was lovely and comfortable!

Our entire multi-gen group had an incredible time! The owners were very welcoming and helpful. We love the charming traditional community of Port Clyde. I was originally concerned about having enough space in the house to spread out but the 6 adults and 2 kids all had plenty of room in such a unique home. We enjoyed being able to bike to the beach, walk to the docks, general store, restaurant & ice cream. We spent a day on Monhegan Island and had fresh lobster dinner on the docks. The 4th of july was the best! Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Had a great time at the Port Clyde Cottage. Enjoyed our delicious breakfasts and dinners in the large dining room. The views were wonderful. Sitting on the back deck was so relaxing. Everything we needed for our stay was provided. The beds were so comfortable. Loved our walks, the Marshall Point Lighthouse, the General Store, Village Ice Cream shop and Squid Ink coffee shop. Can’t say enough good things about our hosts. Karen and Jerry went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Thank you for a great vacation.

This unique cottage in charming Port Clyde had plenty of room for our family of 4 to spread out in August 2020. Our young adult daughter claimed the loft, our son, the downstairs bedroom and my husband and I took the upstairs bedroom with the sitting room. The living and dining rooms are inviting and the kitchen well stocked. Plenty of towels and linens were comfortable. Although located on the main road of the village, the cottage is very quiet and stayed comfortably cool with windows open and fans that are provided. There are lovely views and sunsets from the back deck and a "party dock", complete with all you will need for a large lobster boil and steps from the "Red Barn" which houses a very cute bar in the evenings. Everything in the small village is just footsteps away - the general store, a restaurant, ice cream and the ferry to Monhegan Island (highly recommend). Also we did the Puffin boat tour and learned a lot about lobstering, which was great. Buy your fish/lobsters fresh off the dock. Owners are very friendly and responsive but we had no problems with the property. I also recommend walking to the Marshall Point Lighthouse and forage for fresh wild berries on your way. Those who are interested in art will appreciate Port Clyde's connection to the Wyeth family who owned a couple of islands near the port. You are also near many charming towns such as Camden, Rockport and the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and beyond. We were grateful for the peace of this place during the stressful pandemic. Only reason I am giving 4 stars is that the bathrooms are in need of updating and some of the window screens need to be repaired.

This is our second year vacationing at the Port Clyde cottage. The house is directly on the water in a picturesque Maine setting. It is exactly what it is described as being, and more. Our young grandchildren enjoyed the beach, the docks, the playground, and running around and around in the large barn (game room). We ate at the local restaurants, cooked lobster on the dock, and walked to the ice cream store every evening. We highly recommend this vacation.

I have lived in Maine for 8 years but have never taken a summer vacation to really enjoy it as I have a job that gets very busy that time of year. This year, however, we made a point to block out a week away and invited friends to join us with their two boys (4 and 6 years old) from Kansas City. What a delightful stay we all had! None of us had the pleasure of exploring such a small town before and by day three we had settled into the slower pace beautifully wondering why we had never done something like this before! The house and location were perfect for our two families (we have a toddler), everyone loving the game room and access to the waterfront for lobster bakes and kayaks off the dock. We ate in town and had ice cream each night, and took a picnic lunch to Monhegan, Camden or just the back each afternoon. The house was spacious, beautifully maintained and accommodated our every need. The owners were available, friendly and made us feel right at home. We recommend this little gem without reservation and would love the chance to return again ourselves.

I am counting down the weeks and days until we return to the cottage in Port Clyde for our 5th year. We look forward to this week all year long. We are always delighted to catch up with the owners, who are so gracious, helpful and friendly, and will be sure that the cottage is supplied with everything needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. And like another reviewer mentioned, their friendliness will make you feel like a local; like you belong in this wonderful place!
The cottage is lovely, and has so much character. It is furnished with such taste and attention to comfort and detail. The bedding is top quality and the kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need. Hanging out at the cottage is such a pleasure. Having meals or just relaxing on the deck out back is wonderful! The view and the clean, cool ocean air can't be beat. The sunsets are spectacular! The adirondack chairs on the back lawn, surrounded by gorgeous trees and flower gardens are another favorite outside hangout spot.
The house has many windows affording great views and lots of light! We all really love the "game room" which is kind of like a nice barn room attached to the house. We have a great time playing ping pong, listening to music, playing cards, or drawing and painting out there; there is a great view out the large picture window.
The village of Port Clyde is small and fairly quiet, quaint and picturesque. It is not touristy, but it IS homey and friendly. We LOVE it. We love the general store. We love the village ice cream shop. We love the "Dip Net".
There is plenty to do right in town...Drift Inn Beach, (beautiful!), the playground, (for kids young and old!), fishing, (rods supplied at cottage), canoeing and/or kayaking, walks to the lighthouse, (the museum is very interesting!), art galleries, several great places to eat...There are times we just don't want to leave Port Clyde at all. But, we have made some great day trips; Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, Rockland and Camden, both great towns, Pemaquid Point is stunningly beautiful, ferry to Monhegan, and many more.
As far as "grocery shopping" goes, The General Store, along with 2 other local markets, have been enough to keep us in good food and drink and other miscellaneous needs.
One of my favorite things?...the just audible rumble of the lobster boats leaving the harbor very early in the morning, heard and seen through my open bedroom window. Ahhh...heavenly!
These are times we treasure!

My family and I stayed in this home the last week of July and absolutely loved the home and enjoyed our stay. The home is beautifully decorated, comfortable and well stocked with everything you need to cook and enjoy lobster. The owners are fantastically welcoming and were available to provide referrals and to answer any questions we had. This is a tiny village and is the perfect place to remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of city life and to settle down to relax. There were 2 adult bikes, 4 fishing poles, beach chairs, sand toys, a small toy box with various treasures and board games. Our children loved the ping pong table, access to both docks, freedom to roam and of course the sweet ice cream shop next door. We rented a canoe for the week and enjoyed many canoe trips around the harbor. One of the highlights was the opportunity to go out on the lobster boat and then come home with fresh, live lobster! We would absolutely return to this property!

We stayed at the cottage in June 2010 with our two kids (ages 10 and 6) and had a wonderful time. Our kids keep asking when we'll be going back!
The owners are wonderful and the location is perfect. The house is so interesting and has a great story which the owners shared with us while we were there. We loved that we were able to walk or bike to so many great places right from the house. We took the ferry to Monhegan Island for a day, took a kayak tour, visited the Marshall Point Lighthouse, Drift Inn Beach and had some nice casual meals at the Dip Net and great ice cream right next door--all without ever getting into our vehicle!
Highly recommend this cottage for a great vacation!

A fantastic place to spend a very relaxing week - both the cottage and the Village of Port Clyde.
The house was even better than expected - very well appointed and great views from almost every window. We spent a lot of time there, cooked several meals, and the kitchen had everything we needed - not to mention the grill and lobster cooker on the deck. Lots of comfortable seating, inside and out. Our cell phones worked on the driveway, and wireless works in the game room.
Great ice cream, 2 restaurants, the general store, kayak rentals, boat trips to Monhegan Island or for nature cruises, fresh lobster and fish, Marshall Point Lighthouse, and Drift In Beach are all in walking distance, and we took advantage of all of them!
We had a great dinner at Harpoon Restaurant - the fish chowder was fantastic, as well as the fish.
We also enjoyed side trips to Boothbay Harbor, Pemaquid Point, Rockland, and Camden. Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is definitely worth the trip if you haven't been there. Get lunch at the restaurant/gift shop next door - great food!
And, the owners were super friendly, and very helpful. Overall, it was a fantastic week, and we hope to return in the future!

We truly enjoyed our time at the cottage and Port Clyde. Having rented numerous vacation homes in the past, we can honestly say that the Port Clyde Cottage is the best. The cottage is clean, well-maintained and fully stocked with all the amenities you will need - whether be a day at the beach, cookouts on the deck, movies/books for quiet nights, ping pong tournaments or just relaxing on the custom-made adirondack chairs overlooking the water. We loved waking up each morning with a fresh brewed cup of coffee watching the fisherman boats from the back deck and the other "tourists" envy at the cottage from the front kitchen window.
The cottage is nicely located within walking distance of everything in Port Clyde, including the best ice cream in Maine and freshly shucked oysters at the Dip Net. We enjoyed our evening walks around town and to the lighthouse. Day trips to the various towns in the surrounding areas and hiking at the nearby Monhegan Island is also a must (though we debated the merits of leaving our adopted town of Port Clyde). Don't miss the the blackend halibut at the Harpoon (and the back room late night pub) - also within walking distance.
Best of all - the cottage hosts were very friendly, accommodating and made our stay most enjoyable. We were made to feel like part of the town and welcomed with all of the "locals" just by being the renters at the cottage.
We would highly recommend the cottage and Port Clyde.

Wonderful. We spent "hours" on the back deck enjoying the view of the small cove and islands and under the apple trees in adirondack chairs reading and "nodding off".
If you want more "action" there is a delightful dockside restaurant, the ferry to Monhegan and kayak rentals just down the street. The best of both worlds. Cottage was charming and spotless. A wonderful getaway!

This cottage (though it seems kinda big for that word!) might not be for everyone because it's RIGHT on the main drag. Folks walk by your kitchen window and the cars and trucks drive by within 20 ft but it was PERFECT for us! The ice cream shop is next door and the general store just across the street. We liked the hubbub of the little town (we stayed on the outskirts of town last time) and everything inside the house was perfect too. This house is a beautiful combination of old and new and left us lacking nothing. The quilts are lovely!
