Quiet, clean, well-stocked

This was our second stay at Sara's house and we had just as a good experience as we did the first time. The house is a perfect size for our family of 5 and Sara was very flexible with check-in/check-out and our request for our pup to come. She was very responsive. The property is located in Bryce Resort and was just a quick ride to and from. Perfect for anytime stay.

My family and I had such a great stay at the cabin, everything was clean and tidy and it was so easy to communicate with the owner. We loved how the cabin felt so tucked away in the woods but close to grocery stores and activities.

If you are looking for a quiet place in the woods this is your place. Lots of hiking places to visit. For leisure bike ride, go to the Seven Bends State Park. If you do mountain biking, then head to the Bryce Resort. For a relaxing time, good food and a great beer go to Swover Creek Farms Brewery. We enjoyed this house with all the amenities and confort. We recommend this property.

Was a perfect place for us (5) to stay. The house was clean and well appointed. TVs worked great in guest mode. The setting was nice and sitting on the back porch in the mornings and evenings was great. The kitchen had everything needed (I would add a dish rack but that is pretty picky!). We stayed for six days and did a lot in the area but going back to the house was always nice. Thanks!

Based on prior 5 star reviews, our family was excited to spend the weekend at this property. Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed was the coco and rubber mat at the entrance of the deck that was completely rotten and should have been removed/replaced a few years ago. Opened the door of the cottage, and an overwhelming odor was immediately noticed. Best I can describe it is that it smelled like someone cooked 5lbs of bacon in the kitchen half an hour before we arrived. Immediately started opening windows, and the sliding glass doors. The glass doors were extremely difficult to open - the tracks were filthy, and one screen door was propped up against the outside of the house. My husband was able to at least get the screen door back on its track, but it was unusable. Went upstairs to the master bedroom, and thankfully the beds weren't made, otherwise I wouldn't have seen how disgusting a few of the bed pillows were. They need to be tossed with the outdoor mat! Luckily, the downstairs queen bed had some decent pillows in pillow shams, so I swapped them out. Bath mats in master bath either weren't laundered in some time, or they too were past their life cycle. There was one towel in the upstairs bath, so I went downstairs to look for additional towels. There are 6 bath towels in the entire house, and zero hand towels. There was a metal spring imbedded in the 'bath mat' in the downstairs bathroom (it was a indoor entrance mat) and it had debris on it as well. The hosts must allow dogs, because the living room rug has a few urine stains on it. The sofa frame was broken, and the cushions were stained. Kitchen has everything needed for cooking. Made eggs Sunday morning, and found salt in the cabinet above the stove. Also found crumbs and sticky cooking oil on the shelf. It was so gross I pulled everything out of the cabinet and scrubbed it down because I was certain no one else was ever going to do it. Also swept up a plethora of fallen catkins off the deck. Oh -that cooked bacon smell - it never went away! Lighting matches didnt even help. Whoever is being paid to clean this place needs to be fired. The house is in a lovely location, and with minimal effort (along with replacing some items) it could really be a 5 star destination.

Stayed for two weeks from 23rd April and really enjoyed both the chalet and the area around Basye. This home is well equipped with all the items you need for your stay. Full of light through large windows it was a pleasure watching the birds in the mornings. The attention to detail here is worthy of note.

We have stayed a lot of places at Bryce Resort and this by far surpasses all of them! The home is cozy with beautiful updates in the bathrooms and kitchen it has a wide open floor plan with a beautiful view on the deck! We are booking it again for June for a fun summer getaway at Lake Laura! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay we can’t wait to come back!

Location and house both excellent. Plenty of room for our family of four and only 5 minutes to the resort.

Amazing location and very comfortable home! The beds were comfortable and the linens were clean and pretty. The couch has a bad cushion or something on the end by the sliding doors, but that was the only issue and it was easy enough to avoid since there were only two of us. I accidentally left my glasses behind and the owners shipped them to me quickly and without complaint. I appreciated the outdoor seating options and especially the chairs by the fire pit. There were clear instructions re: care of fire pit as well as plenty of firewood available. Great time, great place:). Thank you for sharing your home!

We had a wonderful time in this mountain getaway. The location was perfect--a lovely walk to Bryce (and a good workout). My son enjoyed the mountain biking at Bryce, and we all enjoyed some local excursions. The house fit our needs perfectly, and we look forward to returning in other seasons. Thank you!

Had a very nice stay! Rooms were really cute and the beds were comfortable. (Wish they had some softer pillows though) My one suggestion would be to have a coffee table to play games around. Thanks for a great stay:)

Property was just as described. Great for a quick weekend getaway. Kids loved all the options available on the TVs and the Xbox.

Great place to stay. Perfect quite getaway. Lots of things to do in the area.

Terrific house feels like deep in mountain woods but only 15 minutes from full size grocery. Solitude but other houses within walking distance. Literal herds of deer (10-15) crossing property throughout stay. Everything in this house worked perfectly snd plenty of room for a decent group. Great bbq grill and tvs. Decks and fireplace/firepits allow separation of groups if you like. We will be going back. 5 minutes from ski resort. Great value.

Only 2 hours away from DC was this perfect home located just 5 minutes away from Bryce Resort. Not only was the location great but the home was cozy and had all the amenities we needed. From its wood burning fireplace to outdoor grill to its comfy couch and fire pit as well as floor to ceiling windows for perfect view of the secluded woods in the back yard. Everything was perfect. We were able to go hiking, do some skying and relax in front of the fire- just what we needed. Finally, Sara the owner was great. She even sent me a message reminding me to get ski lift tix a couple of days before our stay. Thank you Sara for sharing your home with us! We will definately be back :)

My husband and I loved our stay at the Chalet! The fire pit was fantastic.

This was exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful floor to cathedral ceiling glass overlooking the forest, A/C, gas grill on the deck, and excellent WiFi connectivity—just what was needed for a research / writing retreat. Be sure to navigate to the entrance of the resort (intersection of VA-263 and Resort Dr.), or you will wind up being routed down gravel roads. The property is accessible via paved roads all the way up to the gravel half loop driveway. This place should be on everyone's short list for some time out of the city to unwind and relax in the fresh air. Perfect.

We enjoyed our stay in your lovely home very much. The location was great and the beds we’re comfortable. Plenty of room for the 5 of us! And my grandson loved the fire pit! Thank you for everything!

The house was absolutely perfect for us and I would definitely come again!! So cozy! But the downstairs shower hadn’t been cleaned, there was no kindling or fire starters (luckily I brought my own, but you may want to recommend doing so), and no “flame” to start the fire with (there were no matches and the one torch lighter was broken in two, so I ran to the convenience store and got another, which I left at the house). Also no foil, olive oil, or plastic wrap (for leftovers)—Not a big deal, but you may want to give renters a heads up. But I loved the house—thank you for sharing it with us!

Family of 5 plus a dog found this to be the perfect ski trip house, plus deer and wildlife. House was really comfortable, easy to access and had games and good TV for watching football. Cozy fireplace. Could have used one more chair in living room.
