The Hatch does not disappoint! The uniqueness of the outdoor living concept is perfect! The location is excellent. The owners were available and so helpful from check in to check out. The Hatch was the perfect place for our family during our daughter’s wedding week! We had a blast!

We had an incredible week at The Hatch. It is obvious that the owners have been thoughtful in every detail of the house updates, including the outside living areas and landscaping. The house has all of the historic charm of a true Harbour Island home, but has been updated with a modern kitchen, pool, air conditioning in bedrooms, etc. Absolutely amazing retreat from our normal busy life! (If you have not been to Harbour Island, research the area as this is not the place to go if you want the Nassau scene of casinos and endless nightclubs)

Just be aware of the time of year you go. This house is on a noisy corner. Dirt bikes, gas fueled golf carts….. and a rooster Hotel ……. Literally next door. I slept with swimming ear plugs . My daughter never had a good nights sleep so unfortunately we left three days early.

Situated in a picturesque locale within walking distance of shops and eateries, The Hatch a lovely historic home curated by Joanne and Victor leaves no detail overlooked. However, be sure to pack mosquito spray and ear plugs for a truly seamless stay.

We had a fabulous stay. We had 4 couples and 2 kids (5 and 1) in our group and we all enjoyed the home. There was something for everyone in the group. It is a great home for hanging out and spending time together which is exactly what we were looking for. It's close to everything! Being next door to shops & stores for groceries & liquor was perfection not to mention a short drive/walk to the marina for dinner & drinks. I cannot say enough great things about our experience. The host was fabulous and stayed in communication with us. She even came back to help us with the pool heater and brought us bug spray. The housekeeper was so sweet and it was a nice touch to have her come by each day. I can't wait to visit again.

4 couples stayed at the Hatch this summer in July 2023. We LOVED it! WE enjoyed the open air living room, kitchen, dining room, very large pool area and deck spaces. The 4 bedrooms were cool and with perfect air conditioning at night for sleeping. Our VRBO hostess, Joanne - was super ! about helping us navigate the island and she made us feel like family while we were staying at her VRBO for the week.
'The Hatch' was right in the heart of Dunmore Town. We loved the outside bar / TV area and the pool area at 'The Hatch'. 'The Hatch' was a 2 minute walk to the beach bar and the public beach, which had umbrellas and beach chairs to rent . 'The Hatch' was a 2 minute walk to handfuls of 5 star restaurants.
Golf carts were need to get around the island, otherwise . LOVED the Hatch ! AWESOME ! Joanne the owner, quickly answered all our questions and helped us navigate the island. I totally recommend staying at 'The Hatch'.

We loved our stay at the Hatch! Our family has been coming to Harbour Island for years and stayed at many amazing properties. One of our favorite things about the Hatch is the layout. The large outdoor living and dining space open up to the pool, making it very easy to relax while keeping an eye on kids swimming throughout the day. The homeowners are welcoming and easy to coordinate with, and a housekeeper came to clean and do laundry everyday. The convenient location is steps away from groceries and shops, and the kitchen and bar are stocked with all the cookware and serveware you need to cook or entertain. We are very much looking forward to returning next summer. Thank you Vic and Joanne!

This home had an amazing outdoor space for us to swim and relax at after spending the first half of the day at the beach. Proximity to small grocery store , restaurants, ice cream shop, and beach made this a great place!
Note- there are roosters next door so you will want to use ear plugs. The house had those there.
Carol kept the house nice and clean each and every day.

We had previously stayed at The Dunmore when visiting Harbour Island, however this go round we decided it would be more fun to share a house with close friends in the heart of Historic Dunmore Town. The Hatch provided the perfect home base for our weeklong vacation. The decor was quintessential Briland. We loved preparing meals in the open air kitchen and dining and entertaining friends al fresco. Cocktails made at Wic's Bar quickly became a nightly routine. Looking forward to our next visit to The Hatch!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Hatch in February 2022. Vic and Joanne are fantastic hosts who were communicative, proactive and helpful throughout our trip. The set up is perfect for families who want to soak up the beautiful weather and outdoors of the Bahamas, and particularly great with young kids (the pool is fabulous to hang at during nap time)! Overall a fantastic stay and we look forward to returning.

Our family had the best time! Great location! We walked to a bakery each morning for yummy breakfast treats. Close to the Piggy Wiggly and General Store. Great location. The outdoor living was so much fun! Loved the outdoor shower, pool, TV was great for the playoff games which was important to our guys. Carol, our housekeeper was great! Just the best trip! Have recommended it to a friend who goes often and she has given The Hatch recommendation to her friends who have looked into going! Just a wonderful week in Harbor Island!!

We hosted a group of 18 to Harbour Island for my wife's 40th. Eight of us (all adults) stayed at the Hatch. We hosted a welcome party w/a bartender and a private chef's dinner at the house during the week. The largely outdoor property, including the outdoor bar, living room and outdoor kitchen, were simply perfect for both occasions. Our guests loved sitting around the outdoor living room at night, talking. The pool and palm trees gave the house a resort-like feel and the top-floor deck with views of the water is great for sunsets. If you're looking for an authentic stay in a historic house with all the amenities, the Hatch is the place on Harbour Island. Vic and Joanne are amazing hosts and Carol (the housekeeper) is great! We had an amazing time - and will definitely be back!

Stay was very nice and owners were attentive and helpful. Overall pleasant stay. Old house with charm, but house needs general maintenance and repairs to make more comfortable.

We had the wonderful two weeks at The Hatch with our two small kids. The house is at the heart of the village, and Joanna and Vic are the perfect hosts. The WiFi is great for working remote, and we spent lots of time around the swimming pool in the wonderful garden. 10/10 overall

A beautiful outdoor oasis and great location!
We enjoyed staying in this historic home. The upstairs bedrooms are cool and cozy. We loved morning stops to coffee shop across the street and ease of shopping. Also, a quick golf cart ride to beach and all restaurants! The outdoor space was incredible; made for fun & relaxation with a large pool, great lounge and entertainment space and lush landscape! We look forward to return trips to Harbour Island!

Great Outdoor Living in an Authentic House
This house was great for a very authentic stay in the Bahamas. It was definitely a little more rough around the edges than we’re used to in the States, but it is a very old house so that’s to be expected. One thing to note that we hadn’t considered is that there is very little internet or cell connection on the island. The house had Wi-Fi, but it was usually not working. Not a big deal for vacation, just a note in case you were planning on working remotely (like we had).
The outdoor space was truly incredibly though and we loved our stay.

Great week at The Hatch
The Hatch was the perfect spot for our group of 6 adults. When we weren’t at the beach we loved having meals overlooking the pool, hanging out by and in the pool and well, just the pool. It is an authentic and well maintained house well located in the center of town. Joanna was a lovely and accommodating host and Carol a delightful help. We will be back.

A Great Place and Great Hosts
The Hatch was perfect for our family. We loved all of the outdoor living space and the standalone "cottage suite" was great for kids naps and quiet times. Carol, who came by for daily cleaning, was wonderful. While apart from a few inane questions on my part we didn't have any call to ask for help the owners were a pleasure and very responsive throughout our stay. Thank you Vic and Joanne! I can't recommend The Hatch highly enough.

Dream Vacation
I truly can not say enough about our stay in Harbour Island at The Hatch! The outdoor living space at this home , with the outdoor kitchen is truly resort vibes. The home has a quaint historic Bahamian feel, while feeling fresh and updated! The host Joanne and Vic could not have been more accommodating! They were gracious and helpful in helping arrange for golf carts, furnishing water service, helping arrange covid test. Can’t wait to to return!!!

There are mice in the house and the kitchen was filled with flies when ever I tried to cook. There is loud construction next door and the house is located on a very busy noisy street.

Great return trip to the island
First time to stay "not" on the beach on harbour island and it didn't disappoint. Perfect location to everything...grocery store, valentines, the beach, and restaurants. The outdoor living space is phenomenal and is where we spent most of our time. Would definitely stay there again with a large group...definitely worthwhile. Joanne & Vic definitely make every effort to ensure your comfortable and taken care of while in town.

jo and vic were immediately responsive even to the smallest of requests, Pool is well maintained, very clean and the outdoor shower was a nice added touch! We often walked to restaurants, grocery store and the beach in lieu of golf carts. Fantastic place!

Perfect Harbour Island Retreat
We just returned from our week-long stay at The Hatch and put simply, the property is Harbour Island perfection. It comfortably fit our large group of adults and children with an outdoor living space second to none. It’s location downtown with only a quick cart ride to the beach offered the best of both worlds. The Hatch is impeccably maintained and included daily house keeping. The owners are easily accessible and incredibly accommodating. We can’t wait to get back to this special spot!!

Charming House in Town!
The Hatch is wonderfully charming! Situated right in town, it is centrally located architectural gem. The outdoor space is fantastic and the clean and simply decorated bedrooms work well! The neighboring roosters do sing much of the early morning, but consider it part of the local flavor of this historic home! The house managers were very responsive and went our of their way to ensure we were happy.

This was our 2nd stay in Harbour Island, but our first at The Hatch, and we loved it! It has some quirks that come with a historic property, but the outdoor area can't be beaten! The owners were extremely accommodating with some special requests while we were switching houses and were available to provide recommendations. You're in the middle of town, so you're right down the street from the shops, grocery store, liquor store, etc., while still being 60 seconds by golf cart to multiple amazing beach entrances! With being in town comes some additional noise, so if you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend bringing some noise-canceling headphones or earplugs. Nothing major, but there's some outside traffic, Daddy D's on certain nights, and the roosters doing their thing. Overall, I highly recommend The Hatch and we hope to be back soon.
