We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful carriage house. We couldn't want for anything. Every detail was tended to and we will stay here again.
The location is perfect- The Heights is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Houston.
The owners couldn't be more wonderful.
There is also a space for events. My husband and I are thinking of renewing our vows here. Our guests from out of town can rent one of the gorgeously appointed apartments/ house on the property. Gorgeous!
Thank you for an amazing stay.

Lovely historic spot in the Heights
This full apartment is in the perfect location for walkable places to eat/drink, and close to the bicycle/walking path. The quaint, restored rental has all the amenities. The owners are quick to respond and resolve any issues. It's the choice I'll reserve again next time!

at home away from home
We stayed at the Carriage House for two weeks and it felt like home away from home. The neighborhood is great, very walkable and lots of great shops and restaurants. Maria and Lowell went out of their way to help us feel at home and communication was great. The setting is updated and super cool. The place itself is historic, clean, quaint, and comfortable.

Great place to stay on our month-long visit, super hosts
We stayed in the Carriage House for nearly the entire month of January, while visiting our newborn first grandchild. Our hosts were very accomodating given that the birth was almost two weeks early, sooner than we had booked. They had room for us in one of the bedrooms of the large main house until the carriage house was available. Both were great places to stay. The main house has new and very nice full shower baths and a new nice kitchen, and the carriage house, while somewhat older, had everything we needed for our stay. The location in the Heights was perfect for our needs, and you can walk to most anything you would need. There was plenty of room for the two of us, the bed was comfortable, the towels new and nice. We used the kitchen to prepare some of the meals we took to our kids, and everything we needed was there. The plumbing worked well , plenty of hot water. One caveat, the shower is in a free-standing iron tub, which might be a bit cumbersome for some visitors. We are in our 60's and had no trouble but we did take care not to fall. Just something to be aware of.
The accomodations, particularly for the price, were just what we needed for an extended stay, and we certainly recommend the hosts who were very accomodating and did all they could to make sure our stay was a good one.

I came here not as a visitor but as a refugee from Hurricane Harvey. The proprietors of this property are attentive to every need, yet not overbearing. What was most notable to me was the beauty and serenity of the environment, most needed for me at the time. I truly enjoyed the care payed to the home, re-enforcing its heritage. Beauty, peace, kindness, care ...these are my lasting impressions.

wonderfully responsive owners
I stay in this cozy garage apartment periodically for work trips. When I've given feedback to the owners, they are quick to respond and take care of fine-tuning suggestions I've made. I appreciate this home-away-from-home and its location so much. The new ottoman and sofa are comfy, too.

Cozy Home away from home
The Historic Heights Carriage House met all our needs of our stay in Houston for 7 nights while on holiday from New Zealand. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. The area was quiet and we felt very safe there. Enjoyed the Christmas lights of the neighbourhood.
The only negative point would be the bath/shower which was difficult to get in and out of, especially as I am short in height.

It is a very nice setting that is just a few minutes from downtown Houston
This is the second time I've stayed here and enjoyed it. It is close to everything and easy to connect to the interstate. The owners are very nice and accommodating.

Like coming home
I've stayed here several times, and it was warm and welcoming once again. I had trouble getting the bedroom a/c on and the owner, who lives a few blocks away, immediately came over and sorted it out. I recommend this place!

At home in Houston Heights
This little house was a lovely place for us as we spent the week exploring Houston. It had everything we needed (the kitchen was missing a few things we would have liked to have), was very comfortable and quiet, and I loved the brightness of the many windows and stained glass. A wonderful place for us. My only concern is the claw-foot tub. While authentic and cute, we found it very awkward to get in and out of and very confining to shower in. For those less able to maneuver, this could be a problem. Maria's communication with us was lovely and timely and we had no problems at all while there. We would stay here again. A great bargain!!

A gem in the middle of the city
I rented the Carriage House for a long term rental, four weeks. The apartment is extremely clean, well furnished, with many antique pieces, and stocked with amenities, such as shampoo, conditioner and body washes, and other bathroom supplies, laundry detergent, trash bags, linens, etc. The kitchen and bathroom have a fun, retro look to them, which contrasts with the beautiful wood floors in the living room and bedroom. There are more than adequate cooking utensils, dishes, flatware, and other kitchenware essentials. There's even an Indian in the Cupboard! Pictures and art work are eclectic and interesting. This apartment could be an elegant pied-a-terre in the heart of a European city. It is also located in the Houston Historic Heights District, which is close enough to other areas of Houston to which visitors might travel, such as the Museum District, or the Galleria, and within walking distance to a number of little cafes, restaurants, and shopping areas. It's a perfect place to stay if you're visiting Houston.

Makes a business trip feel like coming home
This is the second time I've stayed at this apartment, and it really was like "coming home" to be there. Quiet, clean, attractively decorated in period antiques. The bed is good. Located conveniently near a flagship Kroger grocery at 11th and Shepherd. Just blocks away -- easy walking distance -- from the interesting quirky shops on 19th. I enjoy the location in the Heights, with all its tree-shaded old and new homes with interesting yards -- fun and safe to walk when I had opportunity. I noted that the owners were responsive in fixing a couple of details that I'd commented on in my previous stay, which was nice. Recommend. (Just don't be renting it when I want to come back for my next business trip!)

This place has character.
We arrived late on a Friday, had no problem getting in. Much more interesting to stay here than a stale, cookie cutter hotel room for our visit. Everything that we tried worked fine. If you are flying in, George Bush airport is the best option.

Lovely, Comfortable, and in the Heart of Houston
The bed was comfortable and apartment was very clean. It contained all the amenities necessary (in kitchen and bathroom). The Wifi and Cable were added delights, as were the bicycles to tour to local coffee shops or restaurants. We loved the antique furnishings and charm of the apartment. We recommend this apartment and will request to stay here again! Perfect location.

The location was perfect for us also.

All was very quaint and nice and clean and comfy(in the evenings). HOWEVER, I will not be staying here again this year (spring 2015) as planned. I did not know that there was going to be construction (constant nail guns, nail gun air compressor, and hammering noises) starting at 8 in the morning until 5pm RIGHT next door less than 100 feet away from it's "original" windows. I even told the owner that I was renting this place for a relaxing place for my son and I while we were in and out of doctors treatments for him in Houston, and nothing was said to me about any possible construction noise. I was so very disappointed and aggravated while there, and very unrested when I finally got home.

Wonderful Weekend!
This house is just adorable. We live in a DT high-rise in Austin and this place somehow feels more like home! Cute, and quiet neighborhood. The Heights can't be beat! Thank you so much for letting us stay at this gem.

Serene, charming, nostalgic, and a great Heights location
A perfect, serene place to relax during my busy work week in Houston, and a touch of nostalgia from my long-ago days of living in vintage garage apartments. The kitchen counter even has the original, classic black and white patterned tile! I appreciated the period furnishings, the comfortable bed, and the coffee, milk, and fresh fruit welcoming me in the kitchen.
It's just a few blocks from an interesting "antique row" on 19th, with a huge flagship-style Kroger grocery not too far away on 11th. (Note: the small Kroger on 20th is in the "dry" part of Heights, so no wine or beer can be purchased there: go to the one on 11th for that.) Several evenings I walked one direction or another, with lots of interesting houses and gardens to see all around. A great neighborhood.
Maria was quite responsive to each request I made, like promptly bringing over outdoor chairs so I could sit outside and enjoy the pleasant weather. I made the reservation at the last minute, and did have to call her for key info and address just two hours before leaving for the airport, as she hadn't emailed it yet. That was the only minor hiccup which I imagine will be worked out. When I come back to Houston for my next business trip, I'll stay here again. Recommend.
