We have made the Mountain House our HQ for annual fall fly fishing trips repeatedly. Why? The house is clean and comfy, with a laundry room that’s perfect for drying wet fishing gear, it’s conveniently located near some of the best fly fishing in California, McCloud has some great eating options, and the property manager is extremely flexible and responsive. We’ll be back!

Excellent time staying with family and 2 dogs. The home was delightful and well appointed in a quiet neighborhood. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the mattresses or at the very least add a medium thickness foam pad. This is simply a matter of taste and my daughter and I are picky about quality mattresses. My son slept in the back room and was fine, yet he is an avid outdoorsman and could sleep fine on the sidewalk. My daughter is disabled and I am 70 yrs old...so it is just a matter of preference. The home and hosts are wonderful. The Mountain House is warm and cozy with everything you could possibly want and more. Obviously a lot of love put into this sweet home. We loved and appreciated it. Thank you so much!

I like McCloud and was pleased to share the area with family for a long weekend. The accommodations met all our needs and we had a great visit.

We really enjoyed our stay at this home in McCloud. The home was great with everything we needed. Also, the street was nice and the location was close to what we needed.

This property was an ideal getaway for our family. Its amenities and central McCloud location allowed us to relax, play indoor and outdoor games, and stroll around the town exploring. Our teenagers even put down their phones!

Every year members of my family meet in McCloud for a week of fishing. In years past we would stay at the cabins in the campground, however the boys turned to men and we needed more room. This home was perfect for us. Clean, relaxing and convenient. Will definitely stay here again.

This is a great house for family to enjoy a get away!! Only a few minutes from Mt. Shasta for snow play which is why we were visiting! We will be back again!

We enjoyed our stay at the house with room for us and for our son and his family (including 2 grandsons), as a base for skiing at Mt Shasta. We found the house to be very comfortable. The boys were able to watch Disney movies on the large flat screen television. The kitchen is not fancy, but we were able to prepare meals easily. The coffee machine and hot water pot were appreciated and used for coffee and tea. The McCloud Market is a well stocked grocery store within walking distance, as are several cute stores and restaurants. It was nice to have mounted dispensers of shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the baths. The shower head in the stand-alone shower is situated rather low, which my short wife thought was great. The biggest negative was that the air hockey table that the grandsons were looking forward to playing didn’t work. The expected gas grill was likely buried under snow and ice somewhere behind the house, so could not be seen or used. We cooked the steaks in the kitchen and turned out great. We would be happy to return in the future and would recommend this as a nice place to stay.

This is the second time I and 3 close friends have stayed in the Mountain House. McCloud is a great spot to stay to hit a variety of amazing flyfishing water -- it's a great epicenter for our annual Fall Classic flyfishing getaway. The house is comfortable, well-appointed, clean, and has everything needed to relax after a long day of wading and casting in some blue-ribbon trout waters. Caleb is easy to communicate with and responsive. We will stay here again.

Our host Caleb was wonderful. The owner was also nice. The property wasn't kept up the front entrance area needed a good hosing down, screens were rip, didn't have adequate cooling, lots of left over used expired food in cupboards, old filthy sponge in kitchen, uncomfortable beds and sofas, stained carpet, wouldn't recommend. Maybe VRBO should inspect homes and give owners a check list.

This property could use a little TLC. I think some inconsiderate renters have not left the kitchen furnishings in acceptable condition. I was sure to wash everything I used before and after use. The carpet could stand to be cleaned.

The owner is super responsive and extremely timely when getting back to any questions I may have had. Second stay at this property. They have done quite a few upgrades since I was there last that make it even more comfortable and cozy. Great location. Love the front porch and easy access to all parts of the town. We will stay here again!

Super cute property with beautiful views and walking distance to downtown. Quiet and friendly neighborhood. Short drive to the falls and reservoir for daytime fun.

Very cool place in McLeod historic district. Very friendly quaint neighborhood and incredible view of Mount Shasta right out the front door. Highly recommend for a quiet getaway.

Our house was very clean and very comfortable with enough room for 5 people. Very quiet street and quaint city. We would stay again!

Pros: the house is in a beautiful, safe location. Cons: one bed cover had fresh blood on it. I would include a picture if it would let me. And no reserve toilet paper. One bathroom had 2 rolls with almost no paper left under the counter. The other one had none. I tried to contact through vrbo and got no response. Had to buy my own.

We have a wonderful weekend in McCloud for Easter. The property was easy to find and comfortable. The heater worked great when we got snow overnight, central heating in all of the rooms. Linens and towels were well stocked and the game room was good for the kids. We were able to stream movies no problem and there were a lot of games in the cupboard. Overall a great weekend, we would rent again.

We love staying at the mountain house! We have been staying here for the last 6 or 7 years or so when our church comes to McCloud for our annual snow trip. We couldn't get the house last year because we didn't book soon enough and had to stay in Dunsmuir at a motel, so we made sure to book early this year and were able to stay! It's very nice to be able to stay at a familiar place, it keeps it consistent for my family. Thanks so much!

This was the perfect spot for our two families to come together for a ski weekend! The house had lots of games for the kids, the kitchen was well stocked for all our cooking, loved the big dinning room table for meals, lots of extra blankets and linens, at the edge of town so perfect for morning/evening dog walks and easy/quick drive to the mountain! This house is perfect for kids and dogs, which made for a great stay for our two families! Thanks Mountain House.

Good base for adventure

My friends and I had a great stay in McCloud, beautiful in the fall! House was better than it looked in the pictures, more modern than it looked online. I would stay there again!

My sister rented one around the block so was there most of the time! House was clean and the neighborhood was nice and the neighbors were friendly! House was nice neat and clean. I like that it was dog friendly but felt $100 was steep price for dog I usually pay $50! Bring your own pillows I didn’t like the plastic on them loud and uncomfortable! But that seems to be the only complaint with the house!

Enjoyed our time at your no problems, everything went well. Oh, my husband couldn’t get the dishwasher to fill on our last day there. Thanks!

Wonderful, comfortable house with a view of Mt. Shasta from the back deck. We had a mini-crisis and got a quick response from the property manager.

The house was roomy with nice separation of space and well-outfitted. Great location and very nice neighborhood within walking distance of town. I walked for breakfast at The Savory Cafe every day we were the. And the view of Mt. Shasta was just what we were hoping for.

It was the perfect property for me and my wife (got married on 5/20/21). We couldn’t have asked for a better property for just the 2 of us. Thank you so much!
