We had everything we needed at this house. It’s in a great location. We used the jacuzzi every night and made use of the barbecue. Very cozy and great place to bring family and friends.

We visited North Lake Tahoe for a baseball tournament and the Charney retreat was the perfect size for three families. We enjoyed that each sleeping space was separate from each other but the kitchen, dining, and living areas were places we could gather. The cabin is centrally located to Kings Beach and a short drive to Tahoe City. Our baseball players especially enjoyed using the hot tub. Tere was very communicative and responsive prior to and during our stay. The only thing we wish we could have done was to stay longer.

Great property and nice location

We truly enjoyed our stay at The Charney property, it was more than what we expected. We felt at home, the calmness, peaceful nature of the cabin and its location was perfect for everyone in our family. The proximaty to the lake and all the beautiful views was breath taking as well. I highly recommend the Charney Chalet to anyone looking to have a wonderful group vacation, a home away from home. My over all rating would be the highest - five star rating. I would like to thank Mark and Tere Charney for their prompt responses to all our communications as well.

We had an amazing time and loved the location of the cabin along with the cabin itself in North Lake Tahoe- the hosts were very engaging and accessible with any questions we had... Plenty of room for our family and grandkids...So glad that we found this gem!

Very comfortable and easily sleeps 8-10 with lots of living space for all ages. We enjoyed our stay very much. It worked out great for our family!

We had a wonderful experience at this home. The kids loved the game room and the fire truck bunk was a huge hit! Hot tub is always a winner!

This cabin slept 10 and the living area/kitchen seating fit all of us also!!!!! Plenty of room for all of us to be together.

We had a wonderful long Memorial Day weekend at the Charney Chalet! We especially loved the hot tub, grilling burgers out on the beautiful deck, and the bonus room with Foosball and lots of games for the kids. It was spacious enough for two families to feel like we had our own space, yet plenty of room to hang out and cook together in the kitchen and eat around the large dining table. I really appreciate that we could bring our dog along on vacation too! The location is fantastic with short and easy hikes right out the front door.

My friends and I felt really comfortable at this property. We had 9 guests and there was plenty of room for all of usto sleep and hangout. The location was perfect - close to groceries, restaurants, north star, and kings beach. The hosts were very informative and responsive to any questions. Definitely recommend!

Mark and Tere were extremely responsive and so pleasant! We stayed with family friends (4 adults 3 kids total) and really enjoyed our time here. It is a nice clean, comfortable home, with everything we needed, in a nice area. We would definitely like to stay here again.

This was our second time staying here and it was just as amazing as we remembered! Everything you could imagine in the kitchen, spacious, yet cozy layout, and plenty of games. Tere is so easy to communicate with and a wonderful host!

Each year I try to rent a place on the north shore for my 2 kids and their families to connect for a week. Now that they have given me five grandchildren, this annual family time is even more precious. Of the four places I have rented in Tahoe City or Carnelian Bay, the Charney Retreat was the most accommodating for my group of 10. The neighborhood was perfect...so many trails to explore with my grandchildren, and also bike trails that we enjoyed. The house was very comfortable, and I especially appreciated the children's books and other toys available. We enjoyed the kitchen that certainly had all of the amenities needed for family meals, and the hot tub was perfect after the little ones went to bed. We all thought this property would be a great family vacation. Because we were seniors (76 plus) , the up and down stairs were not the best for us. Moving in and moving out was a Bit challenging. A well stocked kitchen and comfortable great room. Super for families.

House is as advertised, big, comfy, but definitely a bit ‘worn’….My only real complaint is that I got a $125 bill from Mark and Tere after our stay, for what they said was a charge for our dog urinating on the carpet…I contested the charge because the dogs were outside on the deck nearly 90 percent of the time (including sleeping at night) when they weren’t with us hiking, swimming, etc…Also, the first thing I noticed upon arriving at the house was the carpets were stained and “well-worn” to say the least…I also know my dogs and in the 7 years I’ve had them, they have never peed in the house—not even once…I am very appreciative of owners who allow dogs in their homes (because we always take our dogs with us on family vacations) and, consequently, I am very respectful of dogs being in a their homes…Plus, the pics of the “carpet stains” they sent me were more like dribbles—and in my estimation, we’re already there…My dogs are big and when they pee, it’s more like a river…So I continued to protest the charge, and I received a note telling me I was being “punitive” and unkind which was mean and unnecessary…It was the principal—that I was being charged for something we didn’t do— and I know my dogs did NOT pee on the carpet—particularly since the carpets throughout the house were clearly stained beforehand… Anyway, I did end up paying the fee because they made me feel so bad, but I would never stay there again…We also had trouble with the bbq one night when we had planned a big bbq family dinner…We called and left a message asking for instructions and if we were doing something wrong…Mark did not get back to us till the next day, which ruined our bbq since we had to make everything on the stove in the kitchen—which turned out to be a mess…Granted, it was Memorial Day weekend, and I’m sure they had their own plans, but at $450 a night, they could have called back that night to tell us what we needed to do…When I’m paying that kind of money for a rental, I don’t think I need to be accused of something we didn’t do, much less be told I’m being unkind and punitive.

We enjoyed the home spending time with multigeneration family. The pack and play and high chair available were great for my 6 month old daughter, helping us pack lighter. The hot tub was very enjoying the day and nighttime.

The property owner was super friendly and communicative, and flexible during these changing covid times. We LOVED the place and had such an amazing stay! Would definitely book again.

Great location in a lovely neighborhood that's close to the lake and ski resorts. The home is spacious, well maintained, and nicely decorated with all the comforts of home.

This has been the best experience into 2021. We will most likely use this site for future stays. The house is very beautiful, especially during winter. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen together. The beds were very comfortable and the area we stayed was convenient to spots we wanted to hit while being out there. Can’t wait to reserve this place again in the future
