Lovely log cabin amid pine trees. Can walk right outside to the inlet. Quiet and peaceful. Close to many hikes. Great home base to explore coastal Maine.

Great location, great views, secluded. One of the best Maine cabins we have stayed at. Nothing bad to say about this place!!

The property was fantastic. Exactly what we were looking for when visiting Maine. Dennis was great and checked in before our stay and after we checked in. He was available if we needed and left great places to see and try while we were there. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Felt like being welcomed home. Beautiful property. Beautiful home. The Magees were very pleasant to talk to and readily available if needed, though they have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. Such a relaxing place to be and we were truly blessed to have the opportunity. We spent most of our time down by the water watching the many different birds, crabs, seals, dolphins, red squirrels (quite the little characters) and deer as well as the boats coming and going and the neighbors digging for clams during low tide. Also thoroughly enjoyed reading Dennis' autobiography!

If you are looking for a property that gives you peace, solitude, quiet and keeps you in touch with the natural world and the beauty that is Maine, THEN STAY HERE! We had a wonderful week of kayaking, hiking, Bar Harboring, and spending time with friends in the area, but our favorite part of the vacation was sitting on the screened-in porch and watching the boats navigate the bay and various animals and birds share the yard with us. The cabin is great, all wood, with full amenities including cable tv, microwave, full stove and oven, etc., and a king-size bed on the main floor. You can see most everything else from the listing, but most important is the mood this cabin gives off...peacefulness. Thank you to the Magee's for a great stay and hope to be there again soon!

The Magee’s cottage was such a slice of heaven! It feels like they have opened their home to you. They offered many helpful local suggestions. My favorite place was the screened porch to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. It was the perfect location for us to enjoy things both north and south of the cabin. It was our first trip to Maine and hopefully not our last!

The serenity and nature were in paralleled. The hosts could not have been better. Your soul will recharge here. Go north Bar Harbor is overrated. Hit the oft travelled ways of Maine.

The cabin was absolutely charming and very clean! Mr. Magee contacted me before, during and after our stay. He was very helpful and provided us with a list of the area hikes, restaurants, etc. I would highly recommend the place!

The cabin was amazing, great location, very quiet, had everything needed, fully equipped kitchen, plenty of towels, blankets, just name it. Good communication with the host, very friendly, even gave us a 12 page ideas for thing to do in the area. We did most of them, great places to see and hike. Thank you Dennis so much for the wonderful experience.

Enjoyed the place but due to pain issues we could not get comfortable with the living room furniture , however the bed was good and the house lacked for nothing in the kitchen.

So many good things here, like the screened porch and the morning light filtering through the woods; eagles and seals; a dip in the chilly waters during a hot spell felt special (Note: it is a bit seaweedy, and "dipping" is dependent on the tide). Great hiking and exploring nearby, but coming back to Dennis and Helen's place was always a highlight. Our only critique is that there are a LOT of personal effects and items: photos, dishes, religious items (framed verse, Bible etc). No real place to put one's groceries for the week other than on the countertop, nor personal items in the bedroom (which could use more light as well). But that's all an easy fix, and I think we're just accustomed to spare and depersonalized rental spaces. We also SO appreciate there being a charcoal grill -- propane seems to be preferred at many homestays. Thank you for our lovely getaway -- we really enjoyed it!

The location is great if you want somewhere away from it all. It's very peaceful - exactly what I had hoped for - yet close enough to Bar Harbor/Acadia and other sights we wanted to see. The cottage itself is very cute. I would rent again.

The cabin was very beautiful with all the wood. Very cozy. We loved the screened porch. Its unfortunate that the wood stove placement protruded so far into the living room. And the bathroom needed cleaning . But all in all we did enjoy our stay.

Beautiful setting; very quiet and peaceful.

We had a great time at this cabin! Tucked away in the woods and on the water. We really enjoyed our evening fire pits watching the fog come in and our neighborhood deer stroll by.

Needed a getaway and found the perfect place! Could not have asked for more! Dream vacation. The MaGee's were great to deal with in every way.

We loved this property! It is a hidden gem! It is a hidden cabin on the water. We saw several deer, a porcupine, rabbits and blue herons! It was a photographers delight. Not to mention Acaidia. The house has a well equipped kitchen for the the cooks. The porch was our favorite place to sit in the evening after lobster and hiking! If your looking to get away from it all with basic amenities to take the complication out of your life, this is your place! A shady and peaceful respite by a rocky shore...what could be better! We grilled and enjoyed having our dinner on the mossy “patio.” We rented a canoe and set sail right from the back yard. The property was close to many wonderful trails and destinations...Wonderland and the Park Loop being personal favorites. The house was clean and lovely. What more can be said, we had a lovely time and hope to return again!

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. The place was very clean and there were ample dishes, pots, and pans. The location is somewhat remote, but that was perfect. The view of the bay is picturesque and constantly changing. An excellent place to recharge the batteries.

First off, Dennis and Helen were wonderful! Always willing to answer questions and they made everything so easy from start to finish. This was just the place we have been looking for - tranquil, comfortable, and a home base for exploring the area - including Acadia. The cabin had everything you could possibly need and was extremely comfortable. The water, the rocks, and the sunsets were beautiful. And we couldn’t get over how quiet it was on the island. My favorite part of the cabin was the screened in porch. A great place to relax and connect with family and nature. Thank you!
