Our family had a great vacation at the Yellow Bike Chalet! You will not find a better location on Grindstone. We enjoyed the sandy beach and hard sand bottom of the lake. There is a firepit by the water where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets. The cabin was very clean with comfy beds and a large kitchen with everything you need during your stay. The hosts were so welcoming and available with questions. We will be back and looking forward to it!

Awesome property! Low elevation and beach was great for the grandkids to play all day in the sand and water! Views of the lake from cabin were incredible! Loved having the granny suite also for family with newborn to stay in! Overall wonderful week and many memories made! Sue B.

Perfect place for a cabin stay on Grindstone Lake near Hayward.. Lots of cooking for us in well stocked kitchen. Great swimming lake with sandy bottom. Everything was perfect for our group.

Our family takes a cabin trip to Northern MN or WI every year. We look for space that fits 14 people, which is difficult to find. Steve was amazing to work with and the property was delightful. The beds were comfortable, kitchen was amazing, cabin layout was open with a beautiful view of the lake. Grindstone Lake is lovely with sand beach on this property and clear water. I told Steve we hope to be back next summer. Highly recommend this property and the owners!

Second time here for the Birkie with 10 family members for 3 nights . 3 comfortable bedrooms . The common "loft" has 4 double beds that were fun for younger members to sleep together. It would be good to provide some hooks and shelves for these guest to keep there belongings on. A great kitchen to work together in and an large table for group meals. Very niece furnishing and everything is in excellent shape. The lake looks beautiful all covered with ice and snow and it would be interesting to see it in the summer.

Property worked very well for our family vacation. Lake was accessible and we had access to alot of water toys, which was a plus. The kitchen worked out perfectly for our needs, very well stocked. The owner was easy to work with and responsive to our questions. I would recommend this property to others.

I almost hesitate to leave a review for the same reason fishermen don’t like to share the location of their favorite fishing hole. This property is a hidden gem, and the owners are very, very responsive and accommodating. Our extended family spent about a week at the Yellow Bike Chalet to celebrate a 50th anniversary. The property was more than perfect! It was ideal for seniors who require single level access to enjoy everything in the home and on the lakefront and for children looking to keep busy in the water, on the beach, and in the yard. This home is not simply a place to eat and sleep while exploring the Hayward area - it is a lovely, relaxing retreat in and of itself. The Yellow Bike Chalet has it all: windows everywhere highlighting the gorgeous view of the lake; ample room for everyone to gather together without being crowded, plus space for everyone to find their own little nook and cranny to quietly unwind or read; a massive kitchen stocked with every item you could ever need for any type of menu; every indoor and outdoor game you can think of; and a fire pit overlooking an ideal sand beach. The crystal clear lake is a mirror on calm days and the mesmerizing sound of the waves makes you feel like you are overlooking the ocean when the days are windy. Everyone in our group caught fish on the provided and pier and out on the lake. Added to the fact that the Yellow Bike Chalet is as comfortable as your very own home, it is hard to imagine finding a property up north that is better suited for any kind of vacation. Yellow Bike Chalet was awesome! We had a group of 7 adults and 2 toddlers. The gentle sloping yard leading to clear water and sandy bottom was great for the kids. The house was in pristine condition and as advertised. Steve and his wife met us upon check in and followed up throughout the week. Not too much. Not too little. Perfect. I highly recommend. John P

Steve and Janette's home is amazing. Basically, pull up, put your belongings in the house and fridge then relax on the pier, deck or by the fire. The pictures do not do it justice. The kitchen is huge, bright and very well stocked. Anything we needed we could find. Our large group of adults appreciated a Keurig and a traditional coffee maker. Bathrooms were large and immaculate. Another plus was we never ran out of hot water! The upstairs loft was a dream for our group of 20-something adults. Many of the rental homes we looked at would sleep 10-12 but with bunk beds. The queen beds in the loft were perfect for our boys who where 6'2" and up. Two of our family members were unable to come, if they did there was ample room for them. Steve and Janette had more water toys than we expected. The standup paddle board was a HUGE hit. The garage was stocked with outdoor toys for all ages. As July can be quite buggy in the Northwoods, we greatly appreciated the large supply of firewood. The smoke kept the mosquitoes away. Speaking of the firepit, there is more than enough room to fit 10 people comfortable around it for an evening of smores! During the week we saw a momma loon with her babies, a heron who walked the beach daily who we named "Gary", numerous hummingbirds around the feeder in the late afternoon, deer in the driveway, and an adult bald eagle with her eaglet teaching it to fish! We believe the nest was very close to the house as they perched in the neighbor's tree. Speaking of neighbors, we met both and they were lovely and welcoming. Steve's communication prior to our visit was very timely and complete. Every question posed to him was answered quickly and concisely. Our group of 10 couldn't have asked for a better home to spend a week. We hope to return next year.

Just back from a week's stay at the Yellow Bike Chalet. What a magical place! The home is beautiful, even better than the pictures. Large kitchen with huge granite island made preparing and serving meals for 10-14 a breeze. The outdoor hot and cold shower was a hit with our group, as was the lakeside fire pit. The elevation is great - 6 inches down to the lake-side patio, then another 18 inches down to the soft, sandy beach. Gradual slope of the lake bottom makes it safe for the kiddos. The dock comfortably handled our 24' rental pontoon (from laketimeboats.com, highly recommended!) and the water was as clear as gin over the whole lake. Plenty of loons with their wonderful calls long into the night. And multiple appearances from the resident bald eagle as she caught dinner in front of the cabin. The cabin includes everything you need to enjoy your time at the lake. Fishing poles, water skis and ropes, BBQ, floating pads, etc. And Hayward is only 12 minutes away! We can't recommend the Yellow Bike Chalet highly enough. We plan to be back as soon as we can. Mark and family

The Yellow Bike Chalet could not have been more perfect for us. The house is incredible! Even though it was our first time there it immediately felt like home. It had everything we needed and even what we didn’t know we needed. For instance, a great collection of board games, amazing kitchen, and warm fireplace. What else is there? We could not have asked for more from Steve. He was extremely accommodating during the booking process, easy to get ahold of for our random questions during our stay and forgiving when we forgot a ski pole at the house. The Yellow Bike Chalet saved our yearly family birkie get together!
