A very charming little house, beautiful place!

Wonderful, secluded location. Great view, and so peaceful. Loved the interior of the cottage, overall a wonderful weekend.

All the glasses had cracks in them, so we couldn't use them. No hot water, no one to meet us there upon arrival (like it says when booking) so had to search for the key as wasn't told where it would be. Also a lack of car park, for the price of the cottage I think a parking space near by should be included, or some arrangement made with the local campsite to have some spaces there.

The location is very picturesque and the Maiensäss very charming. It is modern and beautifully restored and comfortable inside. We loved the outdoors and hiking at our doorstep. The surrounding is very quiet and peaceful.

The technical setup of the Maiensäss is not working. It is one thing to be off-the grid with some limitations of water and power. This place however is very poorly set up with a solar panel and battery that is simply too small to serve even a very limited use of lights and temperamental set up of hot water. We were out all day hiking and still the battery only lasted for a minimal time at night. You must also be aware that you need to contact the manager to actually drive to the Maiensäss (to obtain a permit and avoid a fine) as car parking is some 500m away through the Forrest. Remember however you need a mobile phone to do this but you are strictly advised not to use mobile charging devices as this will cause a rapid depletion of the battery. During our stay the low battery alarm in the house went off at least 6 times between 11pm and 5am in the morning leaving us stressed and with very disrupted sleep. From then on we just tried to avoid the alarm going off again hence not using anything that might deplete the battery. We think the property is very charming but it should be made very clear to any visitor that there is a severe power issue. For the fact that we couldn’t meet the most basic of our needs the place was way too overpriced. This would be fine if it would be marketed as a simple cottage stay with an appropriate price. Finally, we didn’t appreciate that the manager was very defensive about the issues and tried to blame us for the power situation while we were the ones having to deal with low battery alarms during the night. Out of interest, others reported similar power issues in the house guest book.
