This home was great for a long weekend - very comfortable and great location - very close to town but still in a private wooded area. Very cozy reading room.
I did not do any cooking so cannot comment on the kitchen or outside grill , but kitchen appeared to be well stocked. Very nice bar area.

We have been coming to Highlands, NC for a very long time and have stayed in several different properties. it doesn't get much better than this house if visiting Highlands! Close to town, unique piece of property and a beautifully renovated home with great practicality.

Our part of 8 (4 adults, 4 kids) had a perfect Fourth of July stay in this beautiful and accommodating home! The space was perfect and beds were very comfortable! The house was clean and had everything we needed, including firewood! The property is beautiful and the kids really enjoyed exploring out back! There is a web swing for kids and a beautiful fire pit area, with string lights! The candy jar was a huge hit with the kids! Thanks for your gracious hospitality!

This home and property exceeded all our expectations. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, while providing all the outside fun for our kids. The house was comfortable and stocked with everything we needed, on top of being a beautiful home to back to after a long day hiking. We would love to stay here again!!

Words can't even describe the beauty of this property. The home has beautiful walking trails and outdoor spaces. The swing was a big hit with my three children. The interior is even more beautiful than the pictures. Beds are all incredibly comfortable and the kitchen is well appointed. We can not say enough wonderful things about this property.

We just stayed at this house with our children for a week, and it was perfect! The best place we have stayed in the Highlands so far! Will definitely stay there again. Agree with another review that the pictures don’t do it justice… even more beautiful, comfortable and clean in person. We really enjoyed the property too, especially the fire pit, and the proximity to town and the land trust hiking trails. Great stay overall!

It was our first time in the Highlands and at The Buck House which neither disappointed. The house, property and location to town exceded our expectations. Our kids had the best time exploring the property and nearby trails. The house itself was perfect for our family and in laws to feel comfortable and cozy. Such a wonderful vacation rental and we hope to return again!

It sounds cliche but the pictures truly don’t do this place justice. Our young kids loved exploring the trails in the backyard as the rest of the family hung out by the fire pit. The house feels very private but is only 5 minutes from town. Everything is high end and feels like a real home instead of a rental. Leslie was a great host. Will definitely try to book again when we are in the area.

We loved the house! We stayed here for a week with our family. We love Highlands and come every year. This house was in a great location, only a short drive into town. It had everything we needed during our stay. It was beautifully remodeled with beautiful furnishings. The check in / check out process was very easy
and owner was very easy to work with. We would definitely pick this house again!

We truly enjoyed our time at the Highlands Buck House. The location was perfect ... so close to the downtown. The rooms were spacious and everything was very clean and exactly as pictured. The property is very pretty as well. We hope to visit again when the weather is warmer so we can take advantage of the great hiking around and the outdoor fire pit.

Stayed over Thanksgiving with our children and had a wonderful time. House was impeccably clean, beautifully furnished and filled with everything we needed for a perfect week. My boys just loved exploring the property, pond and adjacent hiking trails. I loved all of the wonderful books for reading and relaxing. Would highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed this lovely home. It has been meticulously renovated, expertly modernized while keeping the historical essence of the property. It is close to town, has a lovely and large firepit in the back. The bottle of wine was a kind touch. The home is well loved and well cared for. We went in November but I imagine the large sun porch would be a beautiful place to lounge in the spring - early fall.
Only recommendation is adding a few more baking dishes or bring your own disposable.

Buck house was the perfect spot for a girl gathering. The home is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Surrounded by woodland sounds and brightly colored leaves. This property also is very centrally located to the shops and restaurants in Highlands. We hiked, shopped, and enjoyed the area from the perfect spot!

The Highlands Buckhouse was the perfect retreat! It is located in a quiet area, just minutes away from Main Street. The home was clean, beautiful and comfortable, with everything needed for a comfortable stay. One morning, we spotted a doe and her fawn in the gorgeous back yard. We look forward to staying at this beautiful property in the future.

We were looking for an escape from the summer heat of South Florida, and our family found a great place! It was a fantastic location, and we got so much needed quiet time. The home was great for our family, and easily could have had more people in it. We had an issue with WiFi but the owners took care of it as fast as possible - and actually, no WiFi helped us escape work a little longer. :) We would definitely go back.

Summer family vacation
Sadly we had to leave !!! A wonderful home for a memorable family vacation !! Perfect floor plan for 3 generations of family.. Ample privacy and sweet home closeness. The furnishings are lovely and the beds and linens were well above average for a VRBO rental. But, for us , it was all about the back yard !! Children loved the trails and the entire family spent hours at the fire pit! Could not have been better !! The neighborhood is beautiful and close to town. Before leaving , walk up to the end of the street,, a steep hike but the views and homes are fantastic. Thank you Leslie for a special time !! Lisa

Beautiful home and grounds. My kids and I had so much fun exploring the property and hiking trails that were walking distance to the house. The location was close to town but peaceful and quiet in a beautiful neighborhood. The home was exceptionally clean. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay! We miss it already.

The perfect Highlands retreat!
I cannot say enough how amazing this property is! The house is so home-y, lots of places to sit and unwind. The beds were super comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The yard, the yard, the yard!!!! Huge fire pit, swing for the kids, string lights, trails down to a private lake and right across the street is over a mile of hiking trails that are part of the land trust. We loved every second of this trip. The house is very secluded, on a private street, but only 7 mins from downtown Highlands. The owners are so responsive and were very accommodating when we almost had to rearrange dates due to a snow storm. We can’t wait to come back!

We found this home at the last minute to show our kids snow. The house was such a gift to us. Perfect for what we needed. Clean and comfortable. Beds were awesome which is a win in my book! Nice places to walk and very kind neighbors.
