Everything was awesome.

Paraphrasing the VRBO message and email I sent three days ago to Jodi Refosco at Taylor-Made Deep Creek Vacations: Overall, the condition and cleanliness of this home was very disappointing. Among the issues: - What seems to be mold in shower of the upstairs primary bedroom suit is unsightly and the shower knob turns endlessly without providing hot water. As a result, we had to take a bath or use other showers. - The ice machine is glacial, barely providing enough ice to fill a pint glass in a day. We bought two bags of ice for a long weekend stay. - Unfortunately, the freezer is also not very cold requiring us to put our melting ice cream and purchased bags of ice outside in the snow. We got lucky that it was below freezing and snowy outside. - The oven is missing a shelf. - The toaster oven is ready to be replaced. - The basement king bed is sagging. - We found mouse droppings in the basement cot. - The basement fireplace does not work. - The communal upstairs bathroom toilet seat is very loose. - The communal basement bathroom has a badly stained sink and the toilet wobbles. - The hot tub was warm and relaxing but I think I could have blown more bubbles in the water than the output of all the jets combined. I’m also a bit baffled that we were provided exactly one trash bag for the kitchen trash can, and with no outdoor trash bin, and a community dumpster .5 mile away. We of course brought dishwasher tablets, laundry detergent and paper towels (and more) to supplement basic items - but I’ve never seen a rental fail to provide a means of collecting more than 12 hours worth of trash for a group of 10 people. Our family previously stayed in another Taylor-Made rental - among many previous VRBO, a*rbnb and other resort vacation rental experiences - and this was a first. Getting out of the driveway was challenging with the snow (it took us 5 attempts yesterday in our 4W SUV), so picking up large trash bags at a local grocery store was a hassle. The location is great and very quiet. The living room and dining area were comfortable for our large group (friends/parents with children). Based on how it's furnished and decorated, there was clearly a time when this home was really nice and up to date. But "well-appointed chalet?" Hardly. Having experienced it for three nights, the total rental cost for this home now seems quite tacky. Worst of all: Three days since we shared our feedback and requested a partial refund, we've still not heard back.

Good location, good for groups, quiet neighborhood and enjoyable for walking with or without the dogs. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils. I’m rating this house as 4/3 because the condition doesn’t match the price. The house is listed as lake view however you cannot see the lake from anywhere on the property. Taylor-Made rental company needs to maintain the house better by repairing broken items. They did use bleach to sanitize (we smelled it when we arrived). However, the master bathroom shower has mold/soap scum on the walls and floor. The hot tub did work but most of the jets are broken.

We enjoyed our 3-night stay. The rooms were all clean and we felt like we had enough space. Check-in was easy and simple. The binder of information was well organized and appreciated. Check-out was also easy and we had no big complaints. We were happy to have the fire pit and the hot tub. It was colder summer weather than normal so they were extra enjoyable. There were a few small issues including a bee’s nest on the side of the house (one guest got stung twice), and overhead lights not working in one of the bedrooms. These were not bothersome enough for us to complain during our stay. But I will say, they seem like things that should have been noticed and taken care of before our arrival. The location of this house is great. Close to everything, but still quiet and tranquil. We saw lots of wildlife including deer, skunks, and a bald eagle!

Overall, a great time. Plenty of room, the master suite on upper level was perfect. The hot tub was either not working or we couldn’t figure it out. It was cold when we arrived and did not reach a hot temp before our departure. Very clean. Seemed to need some updating but nothing that affected the fun we had. No complaints but nothing extremely over-the-top impressive with the house that would make us stay there a second time.

The house was incredibly clean, the layout was exceptional with plenty of space for tons of people, location was only a five minute drive down to the lake, outdoor deck/patio/fire pit spaces were large and beautiful and all the interior / exterior entertaining spaces were perfect. The bedrooms were spacious, the beds were very comfortable, the hot tub was HUGE and fun, the living room sectional sofa was one of the largest I’ve ever seen and incredibly comfy, and the bathrooms were clean and updated. There were so many pros, I would recommend this house in a heartbeat. It looked even better than the pictures. The only cons I would could even think to note are: the drip coffee pot was one of the slowest I’ve ever used (20-30 min to brew a full pot) and if you are a light sleeper or sensitive to daylight, the main master bedroom has a beautiful triangle shaped window that lets in a ton of light as soon as the sun rises and there’s no curtain or blind or anyway to cover it. I’m an early riser so didn’t mind it, but something to consider. Overall, even the cons weren’t really very negative at all, and I just cannot recommend this place enough.
