Beautiful place for a great stay! All was clean and we had plenty of space. The large, private yard was perfect for our family and we appreciated the leaf clean up before our stay. Thank you for the hospitality Ashley!

This older, but remodeled and enlarged home has an interesting footprint! As others have pointed out, you have to make the beds and haul your own trash. Trash drop off location provided by the host was 4.1 miles and 8 minutes one way. As others have pointed out, the home needs lots of TLC. One of the stove burners is tough to light and didn’t burn evenly. Check-in instructions mentioned a wood fireplace, but there was none. There were three gas fireplaces, none of which worked. Compared to other rentals, host was unresponsive once we checked in, but was quite active in requesting a photo ID and guest list. Home is listed at 8,000 sf, but Realtor.com, Zillow.com, etc list around 6,300 sf. Kitchen needs more serving spoons and regular glasses, wine glasses with host’s name were plentiful! TV weren’t matched with the remotes, and we only got one working. Overall not a bad stay, but not quite what was advertised.

Enjoyed our stay perfect for our family

This is an awesome house for a large group! Multiple levels to give everyone space for privacy but then big gathering areas to get together. The lawn care was finishing up when we arrived and the inside seemed freshly cleaned. You do have to take your own trash to the disposal area address given. The yard was really nice for the yard games we brought and we enjoyed using the fire pit every night. Definitely a relaxing time that no one wanted to see end.

This was such a great stay for us because this home feels more private than most at the lake! There is a large yard and a feel that the other homes are not close. We had lots of space inside and outside of the home to gather and enjoy ourselves! The home was very clean and appears to have brand new carpet! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking since we didn’t want to go out. Great spot for a large group without a doubt!

We visited the area for a family wedding and had 15 guests (11 adults and 4 children) at "the compound". The layout is wildly pieced together, but perfect for a large family group like ours. The house was clean and bright, and the kitchen is well-stocked with supplies. There is plenty of outdoor furniture for everyone to enjoy the deck/dock areas. The lakeside view is awesome! The only negative feedback we had revolved around sheets and trash. Staying at a rental home, I expect to have to strip my bed - but the fact that we all had to put sheets on our beds was an unwelcome surprise (the sheets were washed and in the rooms, but we had to make our beds). We also had to remove all trash from the property and take it 10 minutes away by car - this proved to be a challenge when we were packing our rental cars with luggage and trash! We struggled to get the TVs to work - many of the remote batteries were dead and/or we couldn't find the correct remotes. Other than those minor items, it was perfect - highly recommend this property for a fall getaway!

We had a lovely time at Smith Mountain Lake staying at this house! The yard was spacious along with the inside of the home! The kids enjoyed the game room. Everyone enjoyed their space for sleeping and the large areas for gathering. The home was clean and appeared as if some recent improvements were done. Would definitely recommend to friends!

2 positives...1-The lake and the dock area of the lake were PERFECT. 2-The house size is great - we had multigenerational family of 20-space for everyone and multiple gathering/hangin spaces.When we arrived there was water flowing into the garage, game room and the basement room that has wall to wall carpet, it was soaked, game room and garage had puddles - we called, texted and emailed the owners, after 2 hours she said just keep us posted on the flooding, then never responded to any of our future texts calls or emails. The next day in the afternoon the cleaning people showed to help with the water, we were never told anyone was coming. I also showed them how dirty the kitchen was and they said the owners do not pay for that type of cleaning only surface cleaning. The house needs to be deep cleaned. It was very dirty and I am not a neat freak at all. The garage had construction debris, under the decks where the paddle boards and boats there is just so much junk you can't really use the items. The outdoor grill is DANGEROUS, the one on the deck, all of the burners are disintegrated and it does not light properly I would remove it before the roof catches on fire. The downstairs grill is not in any better shape but at least it is not by anything that will catch fire. When you rent large houses (sleeps 20) in a lake area you need to pay the extra for the cleaning, it can not just be surfaced cleaned everything was just really dirty.The beach area also needs attention.

We had family from all over the US. It was a beautiful place, location and space.

What an absolutely amazing property! The setting could not be more ideal! Our extended family enjoyed an entire week and will be returning! This property features one of the largest lots you will find on SML with mature trees and an unrivaled peaceful, serene setting. The landscaping is exactly what we hoped for when we booked our family vacation and the house is amazing! We did not have any issues during our stay but Ashley checked in with us and made our stay perfect in every way. We could not appreciate the hospitality more! The home is enormous, well cared for, and decorated perfectly for an ideal lake vacation. Ashley share with us many upgrades and improvements that she had done over the last year--new furniture, a new dock walkway, etc.The fact this property sits across from the state park keeps you private and allowed our family the retreat that we desperately desired! If you want an escape to paradise with a multimillion dollar home that is well maintained then look no further--the house, the oversized dock, and the landscaping of this property will definitely make for a truly memorable family vacation. We have already booked our stay for next year and after bouncing around between numerous lake properties the last few years will definitely be calling this one "home" for our family vacation for years to come! If you want a secluded mansion across from the state park on pristine waters with a perfect natural landscape then you will love this property, our family does!

Large spacious home for a holiday gathering. Beautiful views of the lake. Fireplaces were a nice cozy touch while gathering in the open living room/kitchen/dining area. Everyone had lots of room. The kids never ran out of things to do. Hosts were gracious!

Overall the property was nice. There were some issues with stained carpets, scuffs and unpainted places walls, no washcloths, upstairs ceiling light flickering, cracked dishes, a knob on the stove was melted, dust webs, leather couch in the living room had a scuff mark, a chair in the living area had a spring sticking out and we had to put the sheets on the beds. The outside of the house may need to be pressure washed and the landscaping needs some work. I emailed pictures to the property management early Thursday morning but I never got a response. Overall it was a nice place to stay.

None of us have ever stayed at SML. What a beautiful place to be. The house was beyond what we expected. Plenty of space to keep from being on top of each other all weekend. The location was amazing.The house was beautiful. Sure it has some wear and tear but that what vacation homes have. Only one small complaint, no washcloths. We will definitely be returning in the summer to enjoy the lake.

Property was neat, beds comfortable and location was amazing. There was enough to do for all ages inside the house. The management was quick to respond to enquiry. The only complaint is we need to dispose of the trash at a remote location (15min away) before checkout which was extremely inconvenient with young kids. For all the fees we pay, wish it was not the case.

We had a long weekend family get together and this house was perfect. Photos do not do it justice. The house is about 5 split levels and there was space for our party of 16 easily. We loved the outdoor space and used the firewood. We also took out the canoe and pedal boat on the lake. The trees were starting to change and it was perfect Fall temperature. So beautiful!

Very accommodating large home on Smith Mountain Lake. Lots of privacy and well kept. Everyone had enough space to spread out and enjoy themselves. The kids really enjoyed fishing from the dock and the fire pit. Ashley was always super helpful when we had any questions.

Large comfortable house in an outstanding location. Plenty of room to spread out and play. On the 1 bad weather day we had different games on each level. Great dock for boating and swimming. The young kids spent the days in the water. and clean. clean. No issues the entire trip.

We loved the size and layout of the house. It was perfect for our multi-generational family vacation, with each family having their own space for sleeping and bathing, but also great places for all or some of us to get together. We spent our days on the dock swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, and reading and our nights making s'mores by the fire, playing pool or ping pong, or working on the jigsaw puzzle we brought from home. Although some of us did do some hiking at Smith Mountain Lake State Park we didn't have to leave the premises to have plenty to do. That said, the house definitely needs work to bring it up to the level in its description. The normal wear and tear that every house goes through has not been addressed (stained carpet, wobbly railings, broken dishwasher silverware basket, broken storm door, etc.). We did get to know the handyman pretty well as he was quick to respond when we let the owner know of problems needing to be addressed immediately. We joked with him that he was becoming a member of the family. Given the way the house is projected in the write-up and the demands of the contract we expected the house to be in much better condition. We definitely had a great time and felt it was the perfect place for each of our family members ranging in age from 3 to 73. Hoping that the needed fix-ups are taken care of so that the house doesn't continue to deteriorate.

Beautiful large house that had beds for everyone! The grands loved the game room and played in the yard when not on the dock. We also took some walks in the neighborhood in the mornings. Our kids brought their boat and enjoyed the quiet cove. Ashley was very easy to work with.

We had an awesome time at this huge house on the lake during the summer. The property is beautiful along with just being large enough to accommodate everyone. We look forward to returning!

We were also shocked to find out that steps down to dock were under construction as well as the dock next to the sand pit was destroyed. All probably would have been fine if we were told this before we arrived. Especially the steps down, as we had several small kids. Great location and has a lot of potential if the property were maintained. For us it appeared as they are just letting it go for now. Looks nothing like the pictures.

We had a wonderful time enjoying some family time by the lake. The view is nice and the home feels very private. We just cooked meals and played games. Walking around the property and through the neighborhood was very nice as well. Ashley was kind during all our interactions and answering questions.

We recently had a nice time relaxing with the family by Smith Mountain Lake. The privacy and comfort this home provides is untouched. We had room for everyone to spread out as well as spaces that fit everyone for some gathering time. Ashley was helpful through the whole process.
