We spent 4 lovely nights in the 2 bedroom cottage. Cute and well-appointed. Comfy beds and very functional kitchen. We ate in all but one night. Savored a local breakfast as well as dinner at Merriman’s, yoga and the farmers market. Highly recommend for 2 or 3 travelers.

We had a quiet, relaxing stay at the 2 BR Red Ohana. I particularly appreciated Laura reaching out to us and offering both an early check-in and late check-out since there were no guests departing or arriving immediately before/after our stay. That's hospitality at its finest.

Beautiful, clean property and a quiet location. We loved that everything we could have needed was at the house! A short drive to the coast, about 15-20 minutes away. It was convenient to be close to shops as well! The host is wonderful at answering any questions and giving local recommendations. We will definitely be back!

The 2 BDRM Red Ohana cottage is a nice little house, well appointed with a cute island theme. Really enjoyed staying in Waimea (shopping/restaurants 5 mins away) with elevation providing a cooler temperature but a quick and easy trip down to the beaches. Fans in the house and cross breezes were adequate (no A/C). The 3 BDRM Red Ohana is a short distance away (shared driveway) but the high vegetation around the deck makes it all very private. Property is near the Waimea/Hawi intersection and while set back from the road a bit, traffic is noticeable ... but generally it dies down to zero in evening/overnight. We love the Kohala area and would stay at the Red Ohana again!

We chose Red O'Hana to be our Big Island 40th Anniversary home-base and we were not disappointed. Check-in and check-out was beyond easy. This house was well appointed with all of the kitchen-type amenities you could need. And, Laura, our host, gave us 2-days of housekeeping! Located in a private setting just across the street from The Hawaiian Preparatory School (one of Hawaii's most elite) offered a beautiful backdrop for the property. It was very cool to see equestrian students working their horses through jumping exercises. Something you don't see everyday. Being at a higher elevation made every night of sleep super comfortable, as were the bed, and the drive down to the beach every day was easy and scenic. In total, this little gem was the setting for a carefree 7-perfect days that went by at the blink of an eye. Mahalo, again, to Laura and Red O'Hana!

Our group booked both houses on this property. They were both clean with lots of amenities. It's a good loctaion to get to some great beaches and hikes, but it's a big island and you'll be doing lots of driving no matter where you stay.

The Red Ohana was the absolute best VRBO trip I have taken. Laura was a wonderful host! She even brought us creamer the night we arrived so we could enjoy our morning coffee!! The beds were also the most comfortable ever! We both slept perfect every night in the cozy beds!! The Red Ohana is so peaceful and relaxing - just what we were looking for! Laura we can’t thank you enough! We had everything we could possibly need! This is such a well equipped place to stay. Every detail is covered! We will absolutely return for future visits!! Our family had a fantastic stay at the Red Ohana! The location was very convenient for the north end and the house and lanai were lovely. The cottage had every amenity needed and the cleaning service was both friendly and impeccable. We hope to return!!!!

We had the best time. Highly recommend. The beds are very comfortable, there are plentiful towels, nice washer and dryer, big kitchen, comfortable living space. It's all great. Everything was wonderful and I wish I could have stayed much longer. Every day I miss sitting outside with my morning coffee.

The Red O'Hana 2 BR is really nice. There is a spacious primary bedroom and a living room with very comfortable seating. The kitchen is completely furnished. There is a beautiful deck with great chairs and a grill. The house has everything you need for the beach (Hapuna Beach is only 15 minutes away): many towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, a cooler, boogie boards and beach mats. Laura is a terrific host. She was extremely responsive to any questions we had plus she had many suggestions on what we could do on the island. We were very lucky to land in this house, as we were making our plans to visit the Big Island on very short notice. I highly recommend this place to stay while on the Big Island of Hawaii.

The house was very nice. I especially enjoyed the private lanai. 15 minutes to the beach. Excellent experience.

Nestled in the outskirts of adorable Waimea, this home offers an escape while only 10 minutes from excellent restaurants and shops and 30 minutes from beaches, boogie boarding and snorkeling. The two-bedroom comes with 5 beach chairs, 2 boogie boards and plenty of beach towels. Known for cool breezes year round, this is the CHILL respite we were looking for. Comfortable sofas and patio seating. Well-stocked kitchen for cooking, but only salt&pepper and some coffee pods included (bring your own spices/sauces). We hope to return!

This was a beautiful property perfect for 4 kupuna (elders) to come together and prepare wedding decorations for our niece. We had everything we needed within reach. The owner was sweet enough to allow us to cut some of her foliage for our arrangements which exceeded expectations. Your property played a major role in our memorable and successful wedding decorating weekend. Mahalo nui.

Cowboy country comfort, where you can just sit back and put up your feet and read; or get in your car and visit several of the natural beauty sites. Waimea has nice casual come as you are restaurants; but if you want beaches ,you are going to have to work a little for it. Laura ( the owner) who has real Aloha spirit ,goes out of her way to make sure that you have a good time. This is our second time to the Red Ohana and it won’t be our last.

I must say I was excited when I found Red Ohana on the Vrbo platform We booked and counted down the days to our trip. Upon entering the unit it was perfect and owner has thought about everything and anything. Place of phenomenal , cleaning staff was superb. All around A+ property

The Red Ohana is in a serene location with a lovely out door space. We were unable to complete our stay because of a medical condition. Laura is amazing at communication and we wish her continued "Aloha". Thank you for understanding.

What a wonderful place!!!

The Red O’Hana two bedroom was above and beyond many places we’ve rented. It is well stocked, tastefully decorated, and wonderfully located. We slept well! Laura is a superb host. She was so helpful in our day planning and making sure we had everything we needed. We’d love to stay here again. Mahalo!

We loved our 3-night stay and Laura was awesome! Very communicative & responsive. We also appreciated all the “red” touches in this red ohana…nicely decorated, king bed was AWESOME and everything we needed was available from kitchen needs to towels, beach chairs, etc. we highly recommend!!

Laura is the best hostess and the location can’t be beat. You can enjoy the sun and the rain. Whoever says you can’t have the best of both worlds never stayed at the Red Ohana.

Both houses at Red ‘Ohana are well appointed. The 2-BR house has the lanai, making a great spot to hide from sun or rain. The temperature up here is fantastic, feeling temperate but not at all dry. Rain rolls off the mountain almost every day, mostly in a fine mist this July. The property is just 15 minutes from Hapuna State Beach, so it’s easy to have sand, sun, and surf, then retreat to Red ‘Ohana to cool off and relax.

The host and property was very nice. Talked to the host Laura several times, she gave us suggestions for places to go and things to see. There were things that were extra helpful like beach chairs, umbrella, coolers, etc. on the property. I would recommend and go here again.

We will book again next year! Laura was great to work with and the accommodations were excellent! Thank you so much!

The Red O’hana is a wonderful and relaxing home in the lovely town of Waimea. It’s just a 15 min drive to our favorite beach (Hapuna) and 5 minutes to Waimea town center with nice shops and restaurants. Laura is a super-responsive and welcoming host. Recommend for families too - a safe and cozy garden area for free play, and even with occasional light rain the kids will enjoy!
