I was lucky enough to find this refuge when I was evacuated from my home after the fires in Santa Rosa. The room is full of sunlight from floor-to-ceiling windows that look out on a lawn and an apple tree. There's a queen bed, a desk and chair, an armchair, and a spacious closet, and a teeny kitchen that consists of a fridge, a microwave, and a coffeemaker. Everything is absolutely clean and attractive. Kelly was warm and welcoming, and always available to answer questions and provide help. A bottle of champagne and some fruit and crackers greeted me when I arrived, as well as a bunch of yellow tulips in a glass vase. The bathroom features plush towels and a really good shower. It's easy to be comfortable here, and when you go out, you can walk to downtown Palo Alto in ten or fifteen minutes. Or you can go down the street and drop in to Cafe Zoe in about two minutes. This is a perfect place for a traveler visiting Silicon Valley, or an out-of-towner visiting relatives---and for me it was a little home when I really needed one.
