We left the frozen North, in mid January, to make Red Cottage our home for 61 days exactly, Check in process was seamless. There was everything in the cottage, that we needed for a long stay. there was even dog treats for our small Bichon Poodle. Yard has some fall leaves, that our pet did not like, mentioned that to Monica, and she sent a contractor who cleaned up in o time. Small boutiques , in black mountains are nice place to shop and near by cafes are nice touch. Over all it was an excellent getaway for us to beat the winter Blahs.

Such an amazing cottage....it was truely a home away from home!! It was a great relaxing time to have after Christmas 🎄 Thank you Monica and John for an experience that exceeded our expectations. Happy New Year and best wishes for a healthy and happy New Year!

Such an adorable cottage that has everything needed plus some extras. The front porch rockers were a treat on sunny days, the kitchen has everything you will need, the whole place is so clean and comfy, and the hosts were great on communication. Being close enough to walk to downtown was a bonus. Definitely 5 stars.

The property was spotlessly clean. There was an abundance of extras. Anything we needed was supplied. The location was as advertised, short walk to town. We had a great stay.

What a cozy home in beautiful Black Mountain! Perfect location to walk to downtown or to Montreat for strolls around Lake Susan. Monica was such a wonderful and responsive host. She even came by to ensure we had everything we needed for our visit from our grandson during the stay, providing a pack & play, high chair, linens and even safety outlet covers. While she was there she noticed an issue with a broken gate from a previous guest and quickly ran to the hardware store and replaced it so our dog would have use of the lawn. I haven’t ever had such a responsive host. Thank you, Monica & Jon, for sharing your wonderful little cottage with us!

Beautiful Cottage with all modern updates. Fully equipped kitchen with top of the line kitchenware. Super comfortable queen bed. Two full bathrooms. Air-conditioned. Best of all, dog friendly. Black Mountain is as delightful town: walkable, great restaurants and dog-friendly. A perfect home for an extended stay. This is our second stay and we will be back next year. Monica and John are great people!

This is our second trip to Black Mountain staying at the Red Cottage. The location is excellent and close to Black Mountain which is a beautiful small town. The cottage itself is very spacious, very clean, and we liked the little touches of snacks and drinks stocked when we arrived. Communication with the owner was fabulous with several instances where we needed to coordinate or confirm items. Red cottages now a "family favorite" for visiting our relatives in black mountain area. Can't wait to visit again.

We had a great 6 day stay at the Red Cottage, touring the area and visiting family. The owners of the Red Cottage were responsive and had a great attention to detail. When we arrived the house was clean and well equipped for all of our needs, with clear instructions on how things worked and where everyting was. We would highly recommend!

Loved our stay here! Monica and John thought of all the right touches and we would easily stay here again. The cozy charm of this place made staying in on rainy days easy. Loved we were within walking distance of downtown black mountain and hiking trails. Would eagerly stay here again!

Monica and John were fantastic hosts! We loved staying at TRC. It was in the perfect spot to be able to walk to either Montreat or downtown Blk Mountain. We did several nearby hikes, as well. Monica was so sweet - helping us with some of the outside timed lights so we could sleep and bringing us a cranberry nut loaf (not too mention having coffee and a complimentary bottle of wine for us when we arrived!). We all had a great time and we look forward to staying at TRC again in the near future! Happy holidays, Monica and John!

We loved this adorable home. I highly recommend staying here. I took my 80 year old Dad who was extremely ill this past year. I promised if he pulled through I’d get him up to Black Mountain. He was beyond thrilled when we got there. The owner’s attention to detail was impeccable. We didn’t want for anything. He’s talking about coming back and staying there in the spring. The entire house was well stocked and clean. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was superb! Communication with the owners was top notch. We will be back!!

We are firmer residents of Black Mountain and still travel back for work, community events and of course catching up with our favorite people. Our stay was wonderful! Pet friendly because our sweet fur baby Samantha is part of our family too and loves all of her BM hangouts. John and Monica were amazing with communication and making sure we had everything we needed... including a highchair for our son so it was one last thing to pack. The location is top notch, the cottage is so charming and you have everything you need! We are definitely putting this into our first choice list!

The cottage was a perfect location for us--whether walking into town or looking for a hike in beautiful Montreat, which is just up the road in the opposite direction. Our month-long stay in the cottage was quite comfortable, and we enjoyed experiencing the last bits of summer into early fall on the spacious front porch. Monica was always available to ensure our comfort and the cottage was the best supplied of any home rental we have ever used. We love Black Mountain, and will consider this our first choice on any return visit! Hard to imagine anyone would be disappointed in this choice.

Communication was top notch. Amenities were very thoughtful and made us feel like we were free to relax and not worry. Enough space for us and our two teens and the location was great for us. Hosts are fantastic! Would definitely stay again.

We love the Red Cottage! The place is so well equipped, you have everything you need while you are away. We tend to cook most of our meals in, and the kitchen is well stocked and easy to use. The front porch is amazing! Monica is very responsive and helpful!

You could stay in a soul-less hotel or dumpy house rental, but you wouldn’t get the real mountain living experience this house provides. We loved the location as it was a short walk to town along a sidewalk that we felt comfortable letting our 11- and 13-yo do alone when my husband and I took an afternoon nap. The neighborhood and homes were very nice to walk through if you like checking places out in a way where you imagine yourselves living there. Black Mountain was just a nice little town, and a 20-minute jaunt to downtown Asheville if you wanted to check out the big city. The house itself we loved, especially the front porch where we often found ourselves at all times of the day. The house was well-appointed with toiletries, kitchen needs, and more. There were even some snacks available for us that the kids made use of (thank you!). Everything was clean and organized. While we tend to not rent a place twice because we like new experiences, my husband and I agree that we will definitely consider renting this one again. Thank you for adding to our great mountain trip!

This was my first experience with VRBO and the Red Cottage far exceeded my expectations. The location of the property is ideal - close to downtown Black Mountain, a 20 minute drive to Asheville, and a 40 minute drive to beautiful trails and hikes off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cottage was very clean and exceptionally well stocked. The hosts provided some snacks and drinks. The kitchen has every appliance, pot, and tool you could possibly need. Linens, towels, toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, cleaning supplies, shampoo, body wash, and additional toiletries were all provided. There was even a supply of board games. Although I didn't watch much TV, there were at least 2 and they both included access to various streaming services (Netflix, etc.). There is ample parking in the driveway. The interior of the cottage is spacious with plenty of seating, including a recliner and rocking chair. The front porch in particular was very nice with 4 large rocking chairs to enjoy the cooler evenings and overlook the verdant front lawn. The AC and heat worked well. Overall I would stay here again during my next trip to Black Mountain. It provided wonderful accomodations for my vacation.

The cottage was everything we anticipated and worked out well for our group. Monica has provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. We are always tentative about staying in individually managed properties but cleanliness, supplies, and the quality of bedding, bath towels, etc. all met expectations. The space accommodated four adults comfortably and the front porch enabled us to sit outside and play board games in spite of the rain. Monica is an attentive host who pays just the right amount of attention to the needs of her guests and we would definitely stay in her cottage again.

In the last two years we’ve stayed at eight vrbo properties from Savannah GA to the St Lawrence in upstate NY. The Red Cottage is by far the most comfortable and welcoming! There are things you hope for - comfy beds, chairs, & couch and neat & clean conditions. Then there are the things you didn’t even know you might need - bottle of wine, dog supplies, umbrellas, & packaged toiletries you may have forgotten. Lovely front porch, nice backyard, and everything on one level. Zero stairs if you enter from parking area. The hosts are super considerate & have planned ahead so you can relax and enjoy your stay. Highly recommend!
