Overall, we had a wonderful time. However, the house is in need of maintenance throughout and a good deep cleaning.

The house was perfect for what we needed as far as the size and location goes. However, the pool was dirty when we arrived and no one cleaned it until Friday. There was dog hair (in clumps) everywhere in the kitchen/dining area and we did not have our pets with us. The living room furniture was less than a 1 rating, it definitely needs replacing and the entire house is in need of a lot of TLC. We did have a wonderful week but would have like at minimum the house to be clean and the pool ready for guest.

This was an absolutely amazing house! I was a little worried after reading some of the previous reviews, but we checked on the fridge/freezer/cleanliness before we unpacked, and everything was great. It's a rental property, so nothing is top of the line, but it was perfect for our family getaway. There were a few minor things we noted, but the owner messaged us back immediately and the property manager came out immediately to manage them. We will definitely be back!

As advertised, bedrooms, bathrooms, linens, kitchen supplies, outdoor supplies were good. House was neat and tidy and generally clean. It worked very well for the 8 of us that stayed there and the functions that we attended. One major issue was that the pool filter system had a leak that prevented the pool from staying full. It was a problem that that had existed for awhile which was disappointing in that it had not been fixed. We kept the water hose running to keep the pool full. The dishwasher upper rack fell off, and the were several kitchen cabinets/drawers that needed wiping out. The house maintenance contact fixed the dishwasher and we heard him speaking with the property manager that it was time, past time, to fix the pool. Overall, we were OK with our choice with no regrets and we do hope the manager takes action on the pool and any future maintenance more timely.

Enjoyed this family friendly space.... Great location for fishing, snorkeling and connecting as a family. Bikes were available for rides. Note to management to help future guest: Fridge looks brand new like it was just replaced but may need to be serviced. It did not seem as cold as it should and it made very little ice.

We were a family of 6 celebrating my Mom’s 80th birthday party. We were seeking a location that would allow us to visit all of the Keys. This home did allow us to do that. However, the home is filthy. We found dust balls in the bedrooms on right side of home. If any furniture was moved, you could tell areas not cleaned for quite awhile. Floors need professional machine clean. Our bare feet were pitch black. We decided best to wear socks or shoes when inside. Living room and bedroom furniture is outdated, dirty, uncomfortable. We used sheets on couches due to how dirty we found their condition. All pilllows provided need to be thrown out and replace with new ones as the ones provided were dirty, stained, and past their usefulness as pillows. But the worst problem is the air conditioner or lack there off. We did rent at a very hot time of year, but the 3 guest bedrooms are downright hot. Home needs another unit to cool that side of the house. Owner provided an industrial fan, but it did not provide relief. Also please note that there are many light fixtures and lamps with l burned out lightbulbs. Over all I think the owner needs better management. Home could be a jewel with some updating and maintenance attention.

The listing said new but It was built in 2008 and I don’t think it has been update since then. So I was disappointment that it needed so much work. Great location. Love KCB. If you come just to fish it would be perfect but we don’t. A few of the updates and work needed. You have to play with the dishwasher door to get it to work ( per host). The kitchen Faucet did not work. (Host put black tape on it) worked sometimes after that. Ice maker made ice but would not dispense. Upon arrival the Fire alarm battery had to be replaced because of the warning noise that the battery was dead. Pool decorative stones were falling off and in to the pool. The cover was missing on the vacuum hole in the pool. It would Suck your skin in and leave a bruise (glad we had no small children). Screen porch furniture was stained and had holes. Master shower was nice but did work right. With updated it would be perfect.

This place was great! It’s very spacious and in a great location for fishing with close access to the Gulf & Ocean.

Key Colony has been a favorite for our family for several years! This house was perfect for our family. Very roomy! Great dockage for our boat! Plenty of parking! Pool was great after a day of fishing. We will stay here again!

Overall our rental experience was excellent. This home was the ideal lay out for our multigenerational group with separate bedroom and bathroom areas for each couple along with a large living area and kitchen for meals and gatherings. The 12th Street location is superb with Sunset Park within a short walking distance and open water just a quick boat ride away. With regard to the other not so favorable reviews about cleanliness I’d say it was not perfect but you are in the Keys , be happy! If anything the cleanliness was not the problem, the furnishings are comfortable but showing signs of wear and tear. (We made it work but the living room pull out sofa is definitely in need of replacement.)

The location is PERFECT! By boat, minutes to the ocean, short trip through the Vaca Cut to the bay, gas dock and bait shop right across from the exit of the canal. Bait freezer and a second full size fridge/freezer in the garage. Quiet neighbors, beautiful neighborhood. Layout of the home was PERFECT, 3 full size couches in the living room, dining table sat 8, ideal for our 2 families of 4. Sleeping arrangements were ideal, 3 king size beds in 3 bedrooms and 2 twin beds in the 4th. Absolutely ideal for the 8 people we had. Large pool deck, large pool, tiki hut, cleaning table,…. EVERYTHING you want in a property in the Keys,….. however. DIRTY. Dead cockroaches on the floor when we arrived. Palm debris floating in the pool. Hair and dirt on the floor inside the screened lanai. Visible dirt/smudges on the dining table and countertops. Random items all over the back yard, bait containers, fishing poles, garbage,…. We spent the first several hours cleaning the house, organizing furniture and tidying up. When deciding on which property to rent, this is honestly what I expected. I told the second family who joined us what all the reviews said,…. Everything is ideal, but it is dirty, and they were right. Not sure what the cleaning fee we were required to pay went to. In summary, it is the perfect “set up”, but you have to expect and be willing to deal with other peoples mess.

Having read some of the recent reviews, I was concerned about the cleanliness of the house, but the property was immaculate upon our arrival. It smelled clean when we first entered the house. This was our family's first visit to Marathon Key, and this house was an excellent choice for us. It would be nice if the kitchen had more cooking tools, but that would be my only critique. The pool was even heated, which I did not know before our arrival, so that was a welcome plus. The layout of the house is great and the Master Bedroom is on its own side of the house, so that was nice for me and my wife. If you are planning a trip to Marathon and you are looking for a 4 bedroom, 3 bath house, look no further. This is the place for you. Also, the guy who helps take care of the place, lives nearby, so that was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

A great vacation home, especially if you are looking for a spacious home that gives plenty of sleeping and living space. I just returned after a weeks stay with my family and our friends family. 10 people total ages 13 to adult. Great location! House had everything we needed. We fished off the dock and caught lots of fish, went swimming, grilled fresh seafood, it was awesome! We read reviews before arriving and noticed comments about needing a deep cleaning, we found the house clean and ready for our arrival. The pools pump was not working, and we were not able to get a reply from the manager about it. We ended up cleaning it each day and it was just fine to use. A great vacation home - not everything was high end but perfect for what we needed. Would go back for sure and recommend!

Could have been much cleaner but Very nice place and stay. Safe neighborhood Jellyfish and lguana running around. Nice pool to relax in. Ate at every food establishment and all were great.

I loved the size of this property. We had 8 people and all slept comfortably there. The house could still use a good cleaning and in need of updating some things such as the counter chairs and chair pads were very stained. The cleaning people had to come back to do some cleaning of mold in the bathrooms and clean/fill the pool. Once the pool was attended to it was very enjoyable to have. The pool does leak water each day and definitely needs to be fixed. We didn't want to leave food on the counters as there is an ant problem. With some updates and cleaning this would be an amazing property. We did enjoy our stay but just want them to be aware of what we saw upon arrival. Once called, they were prompt in coming to the house to address issues.

This is a good from a far kind of house. Looks great but has a bit of a frat house vibe in the end. From old shabby linens to bent forks to every knob, door, faucet needing a bit of love- it was just a 4/5 for me. It was big and had lots of things to make life a bit easier, it was also run down and in need of some upgraded basics and about 2 days of general repairs and upkeep. I loved the area and would recommend the house but again, it was just good from afar

Great location, close to everything. House needs a DEEP cleaning and has been mentioned in numerous reviews after looking back. We had to clean the bathrooms, wash the towels that looked dingy, lots of black hairs all around. The kitchen had bugs crawling on countertops and in microwave which caused us to have to throw food away cause bugs got into stuff on counter tops. There are lots of bug traps placed around but may need a good exterminator. The dishwasher does not work so we did dishes by hand all week. The baseboards and edges of flooring are dirty and not even swept. The pool was dirty I called on Wednesday to find if anyone was coming out to clean it and someone came out that day but not thinking skimmer on pool is working cause pool was dirty again. There are cigar butts all around outside. It’s ashamed the property is not kept in better clean condition with customers paying 275.00 to have it cleaned, I am open to a call from owner to speak about our trip. Hoping this review is taken seriously cause it is a nice house but who wants to come on vacation and have to clean before you can use things. Hoping to hear from owner I have pictures if you would like to see

Great Canal home in awesome Key Colony neighborhood. location that is very central to everything in the keys

Let me say that we really enjoyed our stay. 2 weeks in the Keys is always great. There were some things that I think need attention. I do understand that right now help is hard to find anywhere and especially in the Keys so I understand and expected a little less than perfect. We had to wash the sheets in the front bedroom the first night. There was long black hair in the bed. The master hall light did not work. The pool was losing water daily. The dock is falling apart at one end and needs some cleats to help tie up to. Tiles are falling off the pool. One thing that was really frustrating is the lack of cable tv. It's football season and some people just wanted to turn on their game. Even if it were only available in the living room and maybe the porch it would have been nice. I would also do something to make the dock less slippery, there are coatings that can be applied.

Nice to be able to use frig/freezer in garage. he umbrella by pool is awesome for break from summer sun.

This Property was in a Great Location for Boating and easy access to Deep water. The Neighborhood was Great... The Property needs a deep clean (Bathrooms and Floors), AC needs maintenance (one side of entire house was 80+ degrees. Pool needs attention too, (Tiles are falling off in pool and it wasn't cleaned until our 5t or 6th day of stay... If maintained better it would have been an A+, the layout of this property is Great for Family and Friends with your own space.

For a vacation rental, this place is very nice. The house is extremely spacious. The pool is decent and although the tiles are coming off, it's not an issue for swimming and having fun. I saw others knock the place hard on that. It's not a big deal in my opinion. The glassware and cookware are sparse and that's an easy fix if they choose to do it. There are only one set of basics and not much else. I've stayed a many rentals and for the price, I do expect a lot of appointments such as duplicate and triplicate towels, dishes, glasses, etc. This lacks that. The dock was great and made it easy for my 25' boat. That dock could easily have a 50' boat. It's in good shape. All in all, I give it 5 stars because of Virginia and George (the hosts). They are quick to respond and really nice people. And like I said, the place is very nice and spacious.

Clean house with plenty of living space, use of garage for storage was added bonus. Used the bikes a few times and walked to beach down the street. No hose at the dock but the hose at the pool deck reached to the dock. Pool umbrella helped for hot summer days. Look forward to our next stay.

The location of this property is amazing. Key Colony Beach is peaceful, gorgeous, and we were a only few minutes walk from sunset beach and a short drive to stores, shops, and swimming beaches. Our group consisted of me and a toddler, my parents, my married and single siblings. Having the dock right out back was really convenient! My brothers and dad were fishing practically all day and night. We saw barracuda, lobster, a nurse shark, crabs, and they caught a variety of smaller fish. The cons: there needs some work to clean and update the place. The master shower’s door won’t shut, the pool needed water and a good cleaning and the tile was moldy and coming off. There was no portacrib as advertised, but since we got in so late we didn’t reach out to the owner and just made do. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher when we got there, but otherwise the facilities gave us plenty of space to sleep and hang out no matter the time or weather. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. The Florida Keys are amazing!

Beautiful home, peaceful & safe community, convenient to numerous restaurants & shopping, easy access by boat to both gulf & Atlantic. Home is well stocked with everything one needs. Recommend owner/property manager address some maintenance items (pool tiles, mildew & caulk in all showers, light bulbs out, only 1 outlet working out back, consider painting interior or deep clean all doors & trim work). Home is gorgeous, just needs TLC to keep her beautiful!!
