The facility is great. Pool and lazy river were not crowded and the water temperature was warm. The rear porch reminds us of the iconic porch on Mackinac island, complete with rocking chairs. The beach is clean and not crowded at all. Staff in all areas was very attentive and polite. The only area we were a bit disappointed in is the in-house restaurant. The menu's just seemed strange, intended for a non American palate, and a bit pricey. The suite is very nice but somewhat dated and in need of a deep cleaning. Dust and grime was observed in several areas. The refrigerator had a freezer section completely blocked with ice and the tray intended to collect moisture during defrost was filled 2" deep with solid ice. TV remotes need batteries and they do not operate most functions of the TV's. The fancy body spray shower is pretty much junk. The hand wand doesn't work and other jets are not much better than a gentle rain. We really liked the furniture. The beds were very comfortable. The "living room" section was inviting with comfortable seating and a nice sized table. If the owner would spend a week on-site, we bet he could bring this suite back up to the standard you would expect at a facility like this. The issues we've noted can be easily and quickly corrected, but, several of these issues have been noted by previous reviewers. I sincerely hope the owner takes note and improves this suite. It really is nice and deserves to be treated better.

The resort was great with a wonderful staff. The balcony is awesome to watch the sunrise. The room was dirty and very worn. Water damaged drywall with mold by the shower. Baseboards were dirty, stained carpet, very well lived in and needs upgraded. You will need an Uber to go to any restaurants other than the one in the resort. The staff is very good though, made you feel welcome.

We have been to the Pelican Grand in the past and loved everything about it, but this time we decided to rent privately and WOW! The room was just as described and the view was spectacular. I found Larry to be very accommodating and easy to communicate with. I will defiantly be renting from him when we go back next year.

We had a great week at the pelican grand resort. The room was spacious, bed was comfortable, and the view from our balcony was great. We were greeted everywhere we went on the property with a hello and a smile. Also the crew at the beach and pool were awesome! I would definitely recommend this place. The only complaint I would have during our stay is we were not expecting so many kids during this time of year. Lots of crying and screaming going on while we were trying to spend some much needed alone and quiet time together. Don’t get me wrong, we love kids and have 5 of our own and 3 grandchildren but we were hoping for a much quieter resort during this time of year.

Loved the place. Room was exactly what we needed, no more and no less. Resort amenities were nice. Great beach access.

Initially this was supposed to be a trip for two of my friends and I but we had an unfortunate cancellation and I decided to go on my own. As soon as I got to the property, the area was clean, well maintained and it truly felt like a vacation. The check in process was seamless and the room? OH MY!!! The views were stunning!!! I spent a lot of time in the balcony as I felt as I was at my own oasis. I cannot say enough great things about this property and communicating with the owner about changes was extremely easy. I cannot wait to go back and hopefully, with friends next time.

I have a tough time to decide exactly what the best thing was with our stay at Pelican Grand. Let me just list the things that were most impressive: 1. The view from the balcony was fantastic. 2. The beds were very comfortable. 3. Without a doubt, the best shower that I have ever used. I really looked forward to taking a shower at least once a day. Very, very cool. 4. The VRBO room covered the $42 daily resort fee. 5. The ocean was so close to our room. Really amazing! 6. The staff at Pelican Grand was very friendly and helpful. For example, we were checked in 1 hour later than we should have been. The office worked comped us for breakfast for 2 days due to our inconvenience. I never asked for this extra but she just offered as a way to make up for the delay. Finally, it was just a great place to be. We would highly recommend this property.

I would absolutely stay here again. The host (Larry) was very responsive and described the room very accurately. I do however think the room needs a little TLC. Other reviews state the carpet needs cleaned, I agree it would say remove them all together as the flooring is very nice. The furniture could also use a good cleaning, as it has several stains from what appears to be spillage. The shower is amazing, however could use some lime away to get the sprayers to all work. The light in the shower room is so dim it is nearly like it was not even on and the air vent was very dirty nearly clogged. The freezer in the fridge was completely iced over and it needed a good cleaning. The beds were extremely comfortable, I do wish there had been some extra blankets available though. The staff at the resort were fantastic as was the food at the restaurant!! The check in process was very easy and they held our luggage for us on our last day so we could enjoy the pool before leaving to go to the airport. I did not contact the host about anything because nothing was so bad we wouldn’t stay again. Just giving honest feedback. I would certainly recommend it to friends and family but would let them know it’s been “lived in”, still very nice with a fantastic view, great private pool and beach wonderful terrace for dining and that outweighs everything else!

It finally got straightened out (I had electronic documentation of the reservation) but the hotel not having any notice of my coming was never explained. Mr. Levin needs to update his description regarding accessing Wi-Fi--it was provided free by the Pelican which was a pleasant surprise. I was also pleasantly surprised the Pelican stocked soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and moisturizer without charge so Mr. Levin should update this information as well (I could have avoided bringing these items from home). Only one weird unpleasant surprise: It was impossible to get cold tap water in the room during the late-night hours--all tap water was hot. I worked around this by filling a glass with cold water and refrigerating it before going to bed.

In need of major up keep, deep cleaning, paint, and repairs. If you enjoy pink and black mold in shower, around sinks, the coffee pot, rusty patio furniture and filthy carpets, this is your place. Called him while we we down there, shower did not drain, and told him about the faucet. A plumber was sent to fix the drain. Sent the owner pictures of this dirty, unkept unit hoping for a response, and crickets. He has an excuse for all negative reviews, some already complained about the faucet falling off and dirty carpets, and when I told him, he sounded surprised, like that was a new problem. We were charged for a cleaning before arriving, and no one seemed to care at the Pelican Grand about doing a good job, because they don’t own or service this private condo unless you pay for more maid service. We should have been given a weeks supply of linens, we paid for a week, there was not even enough for two people, and it sleeps 6! Good luck. The unit needs a property manager that lives local to make sure things are done for a comfortable stay. I don’t expect fancy, just CLEAN and in working order. The Condo is run down, and so is the Hotel.

We really love this resort and the location of this unit on the property. The restaurant is wonderful and there are several others in the immediate area. Walking the beach is a favorite thing to do! The layout is comfortable and spacious.
