We had a wonderful stay at Rik's property. The house is exactly as pictured. Less than a 5 minute walk to the water. We used all of the toys in the photo plus a SUP. Walter the caretaker answered the few questions we had and suggested a few places to visit. Highly recommend staying here.

Had a fantastic time at Casa de Las Olas. The location is amazing and the hosts are so friendly & hospitable. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed for an amazing & relaxing holiday.

Casa de Las Olas was the perfect place to take time out from our busy lives! I looked forward every morning to waking up early and sitting on the porch with my coffee to listen to the birds and the waves and to watch the monkeys scamper across the trees. The home is a very short walk away from a wide beautiful beach where you will see surfers surfing, people riding horses, families playing, and people walking their dogs. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance on the beach or on the road. The home itself has everything you need and was absolutely spotless. The best part of our stay however was the hospitality of our hosts, Rik and Susan. Rik and Susan answered any questions we had and gave suggestions about local places to see, places to eat and places to be. They were even able to point us in the direction of a wonderful healthcare provider when my husband needed one. Also, the grounds around the home are absolutely stunning with beautiful trees, plants, flowers and a little garden out front. It is obvious that they work very hard to maintain and continually improve their piece of paradise. Go and enjoy Casa de las Olas, you will not be disappointed! We will be returning!

We truly can’t say enough wonderful things about Rik, Susan, and their wonderful staff at Casa de las Olas. From the very beginning of booking, they went above and beyond to make sure our vacation was unforgettable. From transportation to excursions to making sure we allowed time to relax, too, they helped with every detail. They welcomed us into their beautiful home and continued to ensure our comfort throughout our stay. We will definitely be returning and recommending to our friends and family as well.

We just returned from 3 weeks at Casa de las Olas and it was a wonderful stay. The house is clean, comfortable, roomy and well taken care of. It is just as it appears in the pictures. There is about any water toy you can imagine included along with bikes, chairs etc. The beach is less than a minute walk and it is easy to walk to the many wonderful restaurants in town. Rik and Susan were terrific hosts, always there for anything we needed and very informative. It is an ideal place to stay!

I could go on and on about how great Rik's house is. To put it simple and short Rik has a great home and you can tell he truly cares and has worked hard to maintain it. Rik and his team that helps manage the home go above and beyond to see to any questions or needs. My daughter hurt her foot and William had someone there the next morning to take us to the doctor and they made sure we were taken care of the entire trip. The extras he has here are just the icing on the cake. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in tamarindo on the quiet end of the beach you won't find a better home. One last thanks to Rik, William and his team, book this home you will not be disappointed.

Probably the best choice in terms of price/quality ratio in the area. Rik's house is comfortable, aircon in both bedrooms, new couch, great location. Walter the gardner is so nice, Rik the owner and William the manager are both easy to communicate.

Our stay at Casa de Las Olas exceeded our expectations in every way. A quaint, casual, lush tropical oasis transports one to a paradise surrounded by some of the most beautiful ecological surroundings. Tamarindo reminded me of Bali, and the tropical flora of Singapore. Casa de Las Olas is certainly a place I will strive to return to - a place where for us - time stood still.

Our stay at Casa de las Olas was better than we could’ve imagined. In a convenient neighborhood of Tamarindo just steps to the ocean, Rik’s home couldn’t be more perfect for our stay. Having the boards and bikes was amazinggg, we used them almost everyday. On top of that, Rik has an awesome “book” he made about Costa Rica, with recommendations of places to see, local tips, etc., we all enjoyed reading it! Overall, we are so happy we chose Casa de las Olas for our first trip to Costa Rica. Thanks Rik!!

This house was custom built by the owner, Rik, and it could not be any better. The attention to detail such as, a Bose Bluetooth speaker to a portable ice chest to take to the beach, shower to rinse off before entering the house to a garden to eat from, and SUP board to inner tube for use all added to the enjoyment of our stay. Once he accepted our request to stay at his house, we agreed on a time to talk on the phone, and he called from Costa Rica. Every piece of advice was excellent, and the places he recommended were spot on. He is communicative, helpful, and knowledgeable. His staff was exceptional as well. Next we’ll stay for a month!!! My husband and I couldn’t have been happier with our stay here! The hammocks out front were especially relaxing! The location was fantastic and it was very clean! We would give it more stars if we could! Thanks for sharing your wonderful place, we can’t wait to come back!

We stayed at Casa de Las Olas for one week two couple .The weather was gorgeous, the waves around the lactation were fun we surfed 4 different spots all within a 15 min drive overhead surf and two spot within walking distance .Rik was available every time we reached out .Walter the maintenance team was able to locate fresh Tuna sunset sashimi .. We had a blast ..Great spot ,Great location , and Great people ..🤙🏽

I cannot say enough good things about Casa de las Olas. It is in the perfect location, a one minute walk to a beautiful, uncrowded beach. It has everything you need, including a well stocked kitchen, bikes, and surfboards to use. And Rik is the perfect host - he has so many recommendations and is super responsive to any questions or issues you might have. We can’t wait to stay here again on our next visit!!

Casa de las Olas was above and beyond our expectations!! Having all the extra beach toys and kitchen amenities was a super plus. My favorite appliance was the orange squeezer where we made fresh squeeze orange juice every morning. Also, the fact that it included surf boards had us go beyond our comfort normal vacation zones and we gave surfing a try...a whole new sport I can see myself getting into!

This was our first time in the Tamarindo/Playa Langosta area, and the location couldn’t have been more perfect for a laid back family getaway. The beach was so close by; just across the street and down the short walkway - 2 min walk from front door to sand. There were several restaurants in walking distance via the street, and many just a short walk down the beach. Having surfboards and boogie boards was amazing; the kids could grab them and head down to the beach anytime. We felt super safe in the neighborhood and area in general. A 3-4 min drive into town landed you in the heart of the booming nightlife, grocery stores, and tons of restaurants and shops. The house itself was spacious and gorgeous, and secured by walls and gates for access to the yard/bodega. We utilized the new fresh herb garden, picking as needed for cooking. The house had everything we needed to make home cooked meals, frozen drinks, etc. Loved it so much we hope to return soon!!!

This place was even better than we anticipated! Cute, private place with a path to the beach that was so close by. The trees lining the path had Howler monkey's that would put on a show in the afternoons and mornings. We loved walking along the beach to several beach restaurants that had the best food of our trip. Rik was extremely helpful and full of tips for us. We would love to stay here again.

I don't know if there is a way to summarize an experience like the one we had at Casa de las Olas and Costa Rica in general. All I can say is that this has been a wonderful and adventurous first experience for me! Rik was an exceptional host and we thank him for sharing his beautiful property with us! He provided us with great information from start to finish. The food in the area was excellent! There wasn't a single restaurant we tried that we didn't like. The location of the house is amazing! The ocean is right across the street with a beach access. Restaurants and activities are all within walking distance. This couldn't have been a more convenient location for the privacy and the price. I passed out in the hammock listening to the waves crash in the distance. The house has everything you need if you want to cook, forgot your soap, shampoo, or conditioner, or anything in between. We fully intended to cook while we were there, but ended up eating out a majority of the time because of the quality of the food in the area. There is a ton more that i probably forgot, but there isn't a single negative remark to be had! Thank you so much for your hospitality Rik! We hope to stay again in the future!

Wonderful property! We had a great time staying at Casa de las Olas! Rik was there to greet us when we arrived and give us a tour of the house. The house worked great for our family of four. We loved being such a short walk to the beach and enjoyed all of the toys that Rik has available- bikes, boogie boards, surf boards. The house is a short walk into town. The house and property are immaculate! Rik’s staff are obviously detail oriented and it makes for a comfortable retreat.

I stayed during the February time frame and it is about 85 degrees Fahrenheit and a gentle breeze on most days. Rain does not happen much in February. The front patio hammocks are in the shade, which is really nice and should be put to use while you visit in my opinion. The flooring is stone and can be a wee bit slick if you are wet and coming in from a shower. The property has its own private parking. There are grocery/convenience stores nearby, but walking home with a few bags isn't terribly fun. (There are a few other stores that are less tourist trappy a little further inland in the Villa Real area). There are Golf Cart rentals nearby, which makes a world of difference for the nearby restaurants and grocery trips.

Rik’s place was a perfect space to connect and to enjoy the beach as well as fantastic restaurants and shops. We received recommendations that went above and beyond which made our trip quite memorable. Thank you!

My husband and I were so happy with this place! It had all that we needed for our getaway vacation. Rik is an amazing host! He helped my husband with some beginner tips for surfing and boy did that help. Now my husband is now hooked on surfing! Great waves for beginners. Rik answered so many questions, he has such great knowledge of the area and all his recommendations where spot on. Rik is a great conservationist and we loved talking to him. However, he gave us all the space and privacy we wanted. His gardener and housekeeper were so sweet. The beach is across the street and a very short and easy walk down the path. Great location. I liked that the pace was on the quieter end of the beach. Every morning we took our coffee and walked the beach watching the sunrise. In the evening we would watch the sunset on the beach. This place is a great value and find! For us it checked all the boxes. We feel fortunate to have been able to stay there and get to know Rik. Thank you for having us!

This property is not to be overlooked. Exactly as described in the listing. Rik couldn’t have been a better host. Gave us clear check in instructions, then he showed up a few minutes later. We chatted and he offered us any advise or suggestions we needed. Just a real class guy, laid back loves what he does and is very proud of his Casa de Las Olas, as he should be. We were two couples, my wife and I and my brother and his wife. They had never been to CR, and were greatly impressed. Literally out the door and to one of the most beautiful beaches in 100 yards. Then you can stroll along the wide beach and stop in at any number of restaurants and bars along the beach. If you’re there on a Friday, the hotel across the street has a beach barbecue in a beautiful setting, with food cooked grilled right there on the beach and Costa Rican entertainment following. I could go on and on, but just know you can’t find it much better than Rik’s place.

This place is totally awesome & we will definitely go back! Not only was the outdoor property maintained so very well, but the interior was immaculate! So clean and well-kept and the house is full of amenities! A great, well-stocked kitchen complete with microwave & other small kitchen gadgets. Also, there's a water filter urn right there to fill up so you don't need to go out & buy bottled water every day. We just can't say enough about this place! Truly! Relaxing in hammocks on the front porch as we watched the resident iguanas eat or walk around or seeing howler monkeys up in the trees was a fun way to rest after a day surfing or sunning on the beach or enjoying a tour. Air conditioning in our bedrooms was just what we needed after a hot day in the sun & surf. There is not A/C in the rest of the house, but there are plenty of ceiling & floor fans & this worked fine for us. Speaking of hot, come prepared with lots of zinc oxide sunscreen & mostly bathing suits to wear! It's even warm enough to wear shorts & sundresses in the evenings as you walk around town or stroll the beach at sunset (in January anyway). Our host was the most! Rik, the house owner, was the best & he exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Since he stayed right there on the property in a separate casita, he helped us with questions or advice about what's going on in the area & local knowledge around his neighborhood. He gave us an introductory surf lesson & then we were off enjoying the waves learning more each & every day with the surf boards to borrow. There are other toys for the beach too! Boogie boards, stand-up paddle board, a large black inner tube, 2 beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, etc. This place also has 2 beach cruiser bikes, so get out & take a bike ride at low tide right on the beach. So gorgeous! Or ride into town (1/2-1 mile?) to buy groceries & take it home in your bike basket or backpack. No need to eat out, but if you want to, a plethora of restaurants are walking distance down the beach or in town or right across the street at the hotel, Capitan Suiza. What we loved was being slightly outside of town so we basically had the beach to ourselves with our own waves to surf & if we wanted to get to heart of Tamarindo, it was so easy! Sunsets every night around 6pm! Access to booking tours or renting more bikes or going to nearby beaches is all within walking distance or a short car ride. As the Costa Ricans say, pura vida!

We had an absolute wonderful time at Rik's place, from walking along the beach for dinner in town to the Palo Verde national park, but the highlight of our vacation was coming across the Olive Ridley Turtles babies digging out of their nest while walking back from dinner , not 100 meters from Rik's place, and yes we made sure ALL the turtles made it to the ocean (100+) Thanks Rik for the great hospitality and local knowledge

Love the location and everything was as expected and more!

House was too hot to cook in. Lights burnt out and were never replaced. Wifi was slow and only worked in living room. Asked if we could use BBQ and was told he would get back to us and never did.
