We stayed with our adult children and grands. The house is very well thought out for a family vacation. The backyard is an oasis of family fun. It’s probably even nicer than the pictures depict. We loved hanging out by the pool, putting green and fire pit area. The kids loved the game rooms. The kitchen was up to date and well equipped with quality cooking utensils and just about every appliance you can think of. The home was clean and the spaces well thought out to accommodate our group of 12. The host was responsive and accommodating to our questions. This is a special place. We would love to stay there again.

My family came to visit for my son's graduation and had an amazing stay at Charles' home. We enjoyed much of the time lounging by the pool during the day and chatting by the fire pit in the evening. And, when we wanted to get out the sun there was ping pong, old school video games, shuffle board and darts! The space was perfect for us to gather and enjoy each other's company. It was a quick 15-20 minute drive to downtown Carlsbad and the beach when anyone did want to venture out. Charles proactively checked in after the first night to make sure we had all we needed and that everyone was comfortable. Later in their stay when a couple questions came up, Charles responded within minutes. Everyone had a wonderful time!

This property was truly ideal for our 3 generation family trip. Located conveniently to many of southern Cal's tourist attractions, and a short drive to the beach make for an easy commute. The house is set up for family fun, with plenty of activities, a well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and ample room for our group of 12 to gather for meals and movies. Owners are great to deal with and quick to respond. Highly recommend this property.

I just stayed at Charles‘s place for the last four nights with my two children ages eight and nine. Attention to detail and nuances and care that went into the experiences cannot be appreciated enough. In fact, it was a teaching lesson to the kids and myself for that matter in pride of ownership and attention to detail. Everything was clean, they were games galore, an incredible swimming pool heated spa and all the amenities to make the experience absolutely perfect. We got to spend quality time together as a family and cannot wait to come back.

This is a beautiful property and wonderful for a large group! We had friends and family come together to celebrate our son's wedding. The home is very nicely furnished and everything is true to the photos. The yard is beautiful and a great extension of the home.

This is an amazingly accommodating property and host. The kitchen is the most stocked you could imagine. I was especially excited to see the silicone ice CUBE tray in the freezer. We used the grill which was excellent as was the area surrounding the grill. (Well thought out). The pool, hot tube and fireplace created an environment for all (17people at one point) to enjoy the stories told by our 3 new Marines and the 1 active Marine. This was our base (and oh what a base we chose) for the Weeks events leading up to the Marines graduation on Friday. Could not be more pleased!

Super clean and organized place. The owner was super attentive and responsive to all our needs. We do a once a year family gathering with our adult children and their spouses. My husband and I were super satisfied with this choice and hopefully be back in the future. Thank you

Upon arrival Charles greeted us with the keys and gave us a quick tour . Had a few questions during our stay which he answered quickly . House is great . Back yard is even better . Garage and bonus room are cool , our kids were a little too young to fully enjoy. Everything you need for the beach (chairs, umbrellas, toys , boogie boards , coolers, mesh bags to carry everything) . Don’t need to bring anything for the beach . Would stay again .

We had 11 members stay. Near many San Diego attractions-- Zoo, Lego land, Oceanside Harbor, etc.
Near grocery stores as well. Quiet neighborhood and near a local park to walk to with many hiking trails.
Great pool and game room for the kids. Tight space to park 3 cars in the drive way with SUVs. Highly recommend!

Our stay was perfect for our group of 8 - 4 adults and 4 kids (9-12). Great outdoor area, fantastic pool and close enough to explore all around San Diego. Thank you Charles for being such an excellent host!

Communication with the host was effortless. He worked with us to heat the pool. The property is in a quiet development and pool hours begin at 10am. It is a short walk to a park and playground. The game room and pool were the main features that our family enjoyed.

Great house for families! There is so much to do! The backyard pool, hot tub, and seating was amazing! It is an oasis!! We spent a lot of time out there. Inside, the game room was a lot of fun for the kids and adults. Located close to Legoland and the beach. We took our adult children, their spouses and grandkids. Plenty of room for 11 to gather for meals as well. There is also a park within walking distance with a playground. This home is a 10!!

My large family came together for a Christmas Reunion. Our ages spanned from 16 months to 75 years. Amazingly, this property truly has something for everyone. It was such a pleasure to see each and every person having fun. The Jacuzzi was divine; there were hundreds of arcade games as well as ping pong. The kitchen was so well stocked we never had to eat out; the neighborhood afforded us wonderful walks and talks as well as a great nearby playground. Perfect communication with the Host who was able to accommodate us last minute.

This property had something for everyone from 7 to 70. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. We had three generations of family members staying under one roof. There was plenty of space for everyone to eat, sleep, and play. The kids used the pool/hot tub every day. The adults used the arcade and the seniors lit it up on the ping pong table. Charles was a gracious and very responsive host. He had excellent communication the entire time and met us in person to show us the property upon check-in. The home has a lot of nice decor and everything you could need to cook or grill. It is located 15 minutes from Legoland and Carlsbad. The neighborhood is wonderful - safe, quiet, kid/dog friendly. Highly recommend - 5 stars!

The wonderful outdoor space of the home provides endless hours of entertainment for a family with ages from 4 to 67 The games room, and toys suitable for all ages were an added bonus. No one was ever bored and we all had a blast. Thank you Charles!

The pool is great, and there are so many things for kids to do. They loved the game rooms. The kitchen is very well equipped. There are so many thoughtful touches. We felt right at home.

Family Reunion
Perfect for family with our grown children & grandkids! Home offered many shared & separate spaces, but we truly all loved the well maintained & well equipped backyard. From sharpening up our puttering skills, swimming, grilling many meals, & s’mores by the fire pit- what else do you want? Close proximity to everything! Highly recommended. Enjoy!

Great Little Oasis
We were in San Diego for a soccer tournament and this house was perfect for us. The house was very close to the soccer complex, was clean, had a lot of fun things to do, and the outdoor space was fantastic. We really didn’t need to go anywhere as the house had it all. Charles was also very responsive and gave us a lot of great information about the area. Great place to stay!

Yearly Vacation
My Family and I go away every year for my Grandson Birthday. He is twelve. We love the beach, pool and hanging out together. Tjuu it a was the perfect place for us and we are planning on coming back. Great Times

3 Generation Family
Our family from age 3 to 70 was at Coastal Retreat for a week and had a wonderful time! It is located close to so many activities that we enjoyed, like Legoland and the Oceanside beach. We also had fun just staying home because there was so much for everyone to do! There are tons of movies and games we used, but we especially loved the pool and hot tub. The whole back yard was wonderful right down to the seating! The layout of the house was perfect, the amenities amazing and we enjoyed every day we were there! The older kids even used the Boogie Boards at the beach for the first time ever and had a blast! The pool and hot tub were perfect for every age and were in constant use! The 2 game rooms were awesome! We also loved the coffee maker! Our whole vacation stay was truly remarkable!

Perfect stay
We had a great stay at Charles’ house. Communication was excellent, rental was smooth with no surprises. We were in the area with both of my sons and my oldest son’s family for a wedding. The house was perfect with room to spare. The grandkids loved the pool , minigolf, and foosball. Everyone loved the game room too. Super quick drive to Legoland. Really nice living spaces, comfortable beds, lots of room. Fully equipped kitchen was great. I highly recommend this house.

Fun for everyone
Charles has lovingly prepared his home to be a an ultimate getaway for families looking for a sunny, fun vacation. The house is organized, clean, and comfortable with everything we needed at hand. The game rooms and yard were prepped with play, play, play in mind. Our 4 kids and 1 cousin ages 2 to 15 all had fun exploring the place and especially swimming in the pool. Everything is kept well (lovely plants!) and in good repair. One of the very best rentals we've ever stayed in. We hope to return!

Perfect Family Stay in So Cal
Family of 11 Spring Break trip including 6 kids ages 4-10. The home exceeded all expectations. We used this as a base for our active vacation with visits to Legoland, Zoo Safari Park and whale watching tour from Oceanside. We spent one full day at the house relaxing and the kids were never bored with so many things to do.
Location was great, size was great, kitchen was great, pool and spa were great, decor was great, neighborhood was great, owner was great, amenities were great, value for the money was great. This all added up to an excellent choice we would do again if/when we visit the San Diego area.

Fantastic get away -- Vista oasis
We had such a lovely time at this beautiful and comfortable home. The host really thought of everything and was exceptional at communication. My sister and I enjoyed sitting in the bench swing out front and listening to the birds sing and take a dip in the water fountain. My kids loved the game room in the garage and we all enjoyed the awesome yard. The jacuzzi was used frequently. It was a bit cold for the pool although we did jump in and then pop into the jacuzzi :)
I've never slept so soundly and comfortably at a VRBO before. This home takes the cake for comfort. We loved our stay and will definitely be back in the future.

Awesome Getaway in a Great Location
This home was the best equipped home I have rented yet. The pots, pans, utensils and appliances were of excellent quality. Every time we thought we were going to need to buy something it was already in the cupboard. Everything worked well and the personal touch of having the owner meet me and explain how to use everything was amazing! We had a couple of minor problems but they were addressed immediately. If there were more stars available I would give it to this property and the service we received.

Wonderful property
Property is exactly as advertised- clean, comfortable, with many on site activities. Kitchen is full of new clean appliances including three kinds of coffee makers, electric tea kettle, griddle, waffle maker, etc. there is a gas fireplace on main level. Fun backyard with many toys for kids. Property host is very responsive. Location is 15 minutes from Oceanside beach, 45 minutes to San Diego, and one mile from a Starbucks if the 3 coffee makers are not enough! (Be aware the town rules restrict backyard use after 10 pm and before 9am, which was fine for us.). We would definitely rent here again.
