This was our first trip to the Black Hills, and the Little Elk Cottage was the perfect setting for our trip. The cottage is adorable, very private and within reasonable driving times to the area’s attractions. The cottage was well equipped and well furnished. We had a very relaxing getaway, and would recommend the cottage to anyone visiting the Black Hills area.

Our stay at the cottage was magical! From the quiet, to the trees, the chipmunks and the bees…it was the perfect place to unplug and soak up the beauty of the Black Hills. The location made it easy to visit Mt Rushmore, Deadwood, and Spearfish Canyon. Kathleen was wonderful to work with too!

We had a wonderful week at the cottage. The setting is beautiful with a large property, privacy, peace and quiet, and dark skies for stargazing. We had evening wildlife watching with deer and turkeys in the front yard. The cabin is well-cared for and the posted photos and descriptions are accurate.

Wolfgang and Kathleen‘s cottage is in a picturesque and very quiet setting. Extremely well-kept property and very clean, cozy and comfortable inside. We would strongly recommend this property to anyone who prefers to have a place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the busier tourist areas, yet conveniently located within a short drive to many popular parts of the Black Hills. Kathleen was very prompt in communicating with us during the reservation process all the way through to checkout. We definitely would consider staying here the next time we are visiting the area.

Kathleen and Wolfgang have a very nice and appealing cottage the description is spot on, we had few questions and Kathleen was quick to answer very helpful looking forward to a return trip

This place was amazing. Very clean and cozy with plenty of space. Decorated very tastefully and includes everything you need. Kathleen and Wolfgang gave us info and directions to help plan our days. Nice people, great host. Loved it.

We were in town for the Sturgis rally and were fortunate enough to come across this listing. The pictures are amazing but when you see it in person you won’t believe it. The cottage had everything we needed and Kathleen was a wonderful host checking on us and making sure we were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay here so much, it was close to everything and so beautiful. Highly recommend you stay here!

Everything was great! The cabin was perfect for our family!! Two suggestions is to have better pillows and better toilet paper! Over all we really enjoyed our stay at the cabin! It was close enough to ride our rigs to the lake for an evening of fishing and swimming for the kids!

Kathleen is a wonderful host and the property is just as described. The home is in a very beautiful setting and extreamly clean and organized. I have stayed in numerous vacation rentals and this is hands down one of the best.

Dream vacation
From the moment we entered the property, to the cleanliness and details to information and design of cabin we were in awe. The owners left detailed notes so you didn’t have to wonder about anything. Then came a snow storm for 2 days and we literally felt as if we were in a beautiful snow globe. It was wonderful. The owners even braved the weather to walk over and check on us. Wolfgang and Kathleen are the ideal host, attentive and caring. Wolfgang even cleared the drive for us to get out. This is a wonderful location to everything and we already plan to return next year.

The rental place in Nemo is easy to work with. There is alot of wildlife. Deer, coyote, turkeys alot of different species of birds. Overall we would stay here again and again. A great property and Kathleen was wonderful to work with.

Location is great with great view and plenty of deer to watch. Beds, furniture and outdoor furniture need updated all are uncomfortable to relax in. TV is from 90's. Mold in shower. Costs to use washer and dryer. Can use internet but cannot stream. Has window AC but prefer you not to use. Has dishwasher put prefer you hand wash. No pantry items except salt and pepper. Glad we called ahead to ask what was provided and brought our own pantry necessities. Wasp and bee problem on both front and back sitting areas. Maybe our expectations were higher, the many do's and don't signage in the cottage did not set a very welcoming tone from the start.

Location, location, location. Perfectly situated between typical tourist destinations. Peaceful & serene after a busy day of sightseeing. Everything we wanted/needed was provided. Obviously a well loved property. Clean & well cared for. YES! We would return in a heartbeat. Owners Wolfgang & Kathleen are really wonderful people. Thank you both!
