I also note that the services on OBX have been seriously hampered by the shortage of almost 2,000 workers from abroad due to the pandemic. But I'm being honest here. The Good: The location of the property in Corolla is excellent, great ocean views, generally quiet neighborhood, easy access to shopping and activities. The kitchen was well stocked. The Not So Good: The property is not well maintained. Lots of bulbs out throughout the house, Beach Realty maintenance was called (twice) in order to address an early AC issue. Yes, this is a 30 YO house...but it really shows the wear of constant rental. The cleaning was not great...e.g. hair on the walls of the MRB shower and the yard and grill was a mess. Doesn't anyone check to see if the grill is cleaned before the next renter arrives? We did not use it and refused to clean someone else's mess.

The location and the layout of the property are great. But that’s pretty much it. Bugs in the shower, leaky toilets, black mold, air filters that had never been replaced, spills from previous guests that weren’t wiped up, bedbugs to name a few things. I have been out of the house for two weeks and I’m still coughing, my mom was wheezing the whole time, my daughter got a rash and my dad was covered in bug bites. We left early because we couldn’t take the poor air quality any more. I never write bad reviews but felt compelled on this one.

The inside needs upgrades and a good cleaning! The outside decking area and windows Ned to be cleaned and doors and screens replaced. Good location but not worth the money in my opinion.

Views from the top balcony were awesome. We were frustrated by failed attempts to contact the rental agency in advance of our stay, though they were responsive to requests during the stay. We didn't expect how high the dunes were, and the number of stairs to get across it.

Decking in disrepair. Was told the pool was open which was one of our must have items and it was closed the entire time.

Reviewer Comments: Although the location and views are wonderful, the house itself needs work. There are too many things to list. The biggest issues for us was the grimy kitchen cabinets, oil splatter above the stove, and mold in the loft. We talked to Beach Realty staff in Corolla and brought these issues to and others to their attention. They said they will go to the property and do a thorough check. So, hopefully, the issues will be addressed. During our stay, we did open a ticket about ants, which they resolved in 48 hours.

The pool table was missing balls and the rack was broken, therefore we were unable to shoot pool. The decks do not have gates so if you have small children or dogs that can be an issue. The upper deck has worn wood that easily splinters bare feet.

Please consider putting 1 roll of TP in each of the bathrooms to start your stay. After driving 21 hours we didn't want to have to run to the store immediately and that would have helped. We were particularly pleased that the owners allowed us to stay an extra day at no additional expense; several family members had traveled a great distance to get to the house, so this meant that they did not have to rush to depart. The only thing that I would suggest (and it is minor) is that some Command hooks be added behind bathroom doors to hang clothes/towels on. Also, in the bathroom with the jacuzzi, some type of Rubbermaid stickers could be put on the shower floor as it was quite slippery. Other than that, we were thrilled with how well-stocked the house was and truly enjoyed our stay! Thank you so much!

There were a few things that needed attention: broken bunks, dirty coffee maker, hot tub, light bulbs,etc. These problems were corrected in the first week of our stay except for the hot tub, couldn't get it out of eco mode. The top floor bedroom was like a cave and very musty smelling, which aired out in a day or two. This room needs a window or at least a sky light! Outdoor furniture was uncomfortable, several doors need maintenance.
