This is an amazing condo. Located super close to the beach and pool. Everything is within walking distance including the grocery store, restaurants, and shops. It is fully stocked and has all the beach items needed to enjoy countless days at the beach. Plenty of boogie boards, beach chairs, towels, and snorkel gear. We would definitely stay here again. Shawn made the process easy and was very accommodating!!

This condo is in the Kolea gated community in the larger Waikoloa Beach Resort. The resort has the King's and Queen's Marketplaces (5-15 min walk) with many shops, restaurants, and the Island Gourmet grocery store (at Queen's). Very convenient and pricey. The deli area inside offers a huge variety of take-out food for a nice alternative to dining out, though we experienced a long wait for dinner one day. A larger and cheaper grocery store can be found at KTA in Waikoloa Village, 15-min drive away. The Kolea Beach Club (3-min walk away) has main pool, sand-bottom kids pool, hot tub, fitnessand lounge areas, and a kitchen. Towels provided (use at club only) and morning coffee. Our kids loved the pool and walked there on their own. There's a gate from the club 1-min to the beach at "A Bay" and shower to rinse off. Very small waves, easy and safe to swim. Beautiful shoreline to explore, especially at sunset. Our host sent detailed check-in instructions. We arrived 90 min after check-in time and were surprised to find the cleaners still working. They let us store our food and luggage, and we went to the pool until they were done. We were notified there's an extra air bed if needed. What we didn't realize is that the listed sofa sleeper had been replaced with a big leather sectional, so turned out we did need it. It was large, self-inflating, and good quality, but we had to move furniture, deflate and store each day (too big to leave up). All the actual beds were really comfortable. Kitchen had all we needed (though we had a mixup with types of coffee filters and a manual that didn't match the machine). The induction stove top controls can be finicky. Large master bath with huge bathtub and shower. The lanai (back patio) was nice area with grill, with sliding doors that can tuck away. Unfortunately, we all experienced some mosquito bites, so we kept it closed. Closet packed full of beach toys, in various states of repair: many boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach chairs, mats + sand toys. We enjoyed it all at Hapuna Beach to boogie board, and Mauna Lani to snorkel. Beach towels as well. The host was responsive and friendly. Check out instructions said to do all but one load of laundry before we left, which was tough with an early flight and dryer slow to dry towels. In all, a great time with a few bumps along the way and would stay there again. Recommend the host clarify the sofa/air bed and laundry set expectations aware ahead of time. Mahalo!

Unit is easy walk to beach and pool. Restaurants close if you don't want to cook. Wonderful kitchen if you like to cook. AC cools the entire unit and in unit washer and dryer is a great plus. If you scuba dive your less than 1/2 hour drive to the harbor. Then there's Shawn....what an absolute great person. We needed a last minute rental and he did everything to help us get into the unit asap.

This condo was absolutely perfect for two couples. It had a very well equipped large kitchen and also an outdoor kitchen which was great for barbecuing in the evening. The pool area is absolutely stunning and the grounds are beautiful! Shawn the host, couldn’t have been any more helpful , he was wonderful. Wie’ll definitely be back!

Nothing but good things to say about this stay! Short walk to the pool and beach were huge for us. Condo was very spacious and clean with everything that we needed. Grounds were quiet and peaceful. Appreciate the good communication too!

Beautiful location

This was our first time staying at Kolea on the Big Island and the location was perfect for our small family. The condo was well appointed - kitchen was well stocked and a closet of beach toys to use. The owners were super responsive and great to communicate with. We had a small issue with some things that were missed by the cleaners during our visit, but Shawn responded immediately to resolve and rectify. We really couldn’t have asked for more. Overall, a great experience! Would definitely recommend.

The condo was nicely laid out and provisioned with all the amenities we could want plus many we didn't have time to use. Access to the pool and exercise equipment as well as easy walking to the beach and dining.

Kolea is the perfect Big Island location with great beach access to the amazing and friendly A Bay, and a beautiful community pool. Owner is friendly, easy to communicate with; Condo has plenty of beach towels and beach "toys." We enjoyed our stay. However, the unit is a bit worn and could use some TLC.

Everything was perfect. The condo was immaculate and in a great location just adjacent to the Marriott property. There were a ton of beach towels and beach toys previous guests had left, which made it very easy to enjoy the beach. We can’t wait to go back!

We have been to the area of Kings and Queens Mall. We thought it was too perfect! We like to be more natural. Our unit was perfect and spacious! The kitchen had lots of condiments and ketchup and Himalayan salt and more! We are really appreciated this as sometimes all you get is salt and pepper. The club house was amazing and it was a short walk away. Then the beach was just there and you can walk on the beach to some secluded areas, that was such a bonus. It was all natural and gorgeous! We loved it all! The Queen Mall had the Island Market which was excellent to for groceries. We will be back! Great job Shawn!

This was a lovely condo & we enjoyed our stay. Shawn was especially accommodating.

My husband, daughter and I stayed for 9 days in July 2019. The condo was as represented in the photos with the nice feature of pocket doors that completely disappear between lanai and living room. The pool access and proximity to A bay, shops and the Fish ponds as well as restaurants, groceries, and shops all added to the value. We snorkeled a lot ten minutes away at the Beach Club and saw tons of fish. A good value for a family trip.

This Waikoloa property is lovely and inviting, and the location and grounds are wonderful. It also couldn't be a better spot for children, with comfy grass right out the lanai, and the excellent, well designed and maintained pool area just a hop, skip and a jump away. We found the condo impeccably clean on arrival, and the kitchen well equipped. Beds are comfortable as are the living room furniture. Shawn is very, very accessible and responds promptly to all inquiries and requests. This was much appreciated!

We have been to the Big Island a few times so as a family, we know exactly what works for us. This condo was excellent. Location is ideal. Amenities of the property are excellent. Walking to the bay was huge for us to be able to not have to always drive to get to the ocean. Pool was great. We could, if we chose, walk to Queen's shopping area, specifically for us to get groceries since we eat most meals in. Shawn was excellent in communication leading up and during the 10 day stay. The closet is stocked from past guests chairs, snorkels, boogie boards, umbrellas and more. Our only 'knock' is that the beds (queen and 2 twins) are pretty old and dated. We personally would expect that of all the things in a vacation rental (a choice obviously made to not stay in a hotel)_, beyond couches and tables and chairs, that the beds should be excellent. These were mediocre at best. Swap those out and this is 5+ stars!

Very comfortable, well set up condo with a very short walk to the pool area and then a further short walk to a beach. We enjoyed the morning coffee down at the pool and then yoga on the beach every morning to start our day. The condo was well equipped for beach toys and towels which was nice. The kitchen was also well stocked and the BBQ worked just fine. The beds were comfortable and the two full baths was very nice. The second bathroom did not get good hot water?? Not sure what that was about. Our bathroom had great hot water! WE really liked the location, with restaurants walking distance on the beach, check out Lava Lava Beach club, but it is hard to get into! Also walking distance to lots of smaller eating places and shopping at Queens and Kings. The beach at A Bay is not a great swimming beach (too many rocks) but it is fun for walking, we went to Hapuna or Beach 69 for swimming. Shawn, the manager, was very responsive and accommodating when it came to issues with flights at the end of the trip.

We loved the location of this villa. It was perfect for us. It was great because it was like having our own private yard. We actually loved being on the ground level as we could just walk straight out the back patio to go to the beach club. The villa was well appointed an!!! d well maintained. My wife and I really enjoyed how the sliders opened all the way up into the wall so you felt like you were outside inside. On the lovely patio there was a built in barbeque and mini fridge. The location was very private and quiet. The development itself was lovely as well. You could walk right down to A bay walk to the Marriott, Hilton, Kings Shops, Queens Shops, etc. The private Kolea beach club was awesome They provided fresh pool towels, great pool and amazing jacuzzi looking out to the ocean. I would say this one of our best vacation spots we have ever traveled too. The overall experience with the villa, the location, the amenities etc made it a perfect vacation. The owner of the condo was always available and responsive whenever we called or texted he got right back to us. He also gave us a lot of great local tips for beaches, restaurants, etc. Very Very Helpful! The villa was fully equipped with washer, dryer, fully stoked Kitchen, bedding, 2 beautiful bathrooms, etc. The condo itself was super comfortable, spacious, well stocked, and beautifully decorated. 5 star. It also has A/C which is a bonus because it seems like most of the island does not! The condo is in a small gated community and includes private access to a Beach club - which is absolutely stunning. My kids really enjoyed the infinity pool and waterfall pond, which is a 2 minute walk away from the condo. The fish ponds and beach were just as accessible and fun to explore. Lava Lava Beach club is a must for lunch! The main grocery store and some cool upscale strip malls were within a 10 minute walk. Starbucks, Macy’s and Tiffany’s — all the comfort necessities. Overall, the location was fantastic, and a good base camp to explore the west and north side of the island. This is an exclusive community area on the west side of the island, and we now plan on returning to this island and this particular condo annually! We fell in love with this condo, Kolea and the Big Island.

We stayed for almost a week in July 2018 with a family of five. Pluses were the location (though a bit farther from the ocean than expected, it was a short walk to the pool and then on to A' beach that even our 3 yr old could do; it was a short drive to the Queen's and King's and a quick trip to very nice beaches in Kohala), the ample space (no feeling cramped here!), the nice kitchen, the various beach things in the closet (umbrella, boogie board, flippers, cooler, mats, etc), We were grateful that the villa was also clean, well prepared, and bug-free. Staying on the Kohala Coast was close to what we expected - less crowds, nice beaches, little traffic. less rain (sunny here, downpours at Honaunau). However, we were a bit disappointed at the quality of the mattresses and the furniture - the mattresses were not at all comfortable (especially the sofabed), the chests of drawers seemed to be on their last legs (worn out appearance, hard to pull out drawers), and two dining room chairs had broken legs. We also had some bad luck with the outdoor grill - no propane, on the weekend, with the offered solution being that we hunt around for a new tank on our own in Waikaloa and then figure out how to swap them out. Though the place has obvious amenities, in order to have better nights' sleep we would probably look hard next time for alternatives. However, we looked hard to find this place and could easily end up back as the location and indoor space are hard to beat. One tip is to get groceries, etc outside Waikoloa Village. We found adequate olive oil, salt, pepper, dishwasher pellets, soap and sponge, coffee filters, etc on arrival.

The condo is located in a beautiful community, right on the beach between the Marriott and the Hilton, and the pool, gym and other amenities are great. Our host Shawn was responsive and very nice during our stay. I would definitely recommend this property.

Kolea is a nice condo complex with the distinct benefic of being close enough to walk to the nearest beach. The clubhouse pool and kiddy pool are great, but a bit cold. This unit is a short walk to the clubhouse (and on to the beach), is well stocked with beach toys and towels, and we particularly liked that it had tile floors throughout (no dirty/musty carpets).

Great villa complex. Very convenient to A-Bay and pool. Unit was clean and had all we needed to borrow for the beach and kitchen allowed us to enjoy fresh fish at home. Such an ideal location to base all other day trips around the island. Shawn was helpful and answered all of our questions. We recommend it!

We really enjoyed staying at this condo. It was nicely furnished and had comfy beds. The condo was very well maintained. It was probably one of the best condos we have ever stayed at. It had a wetbar and built in BBQ on the Lanai and right off the Lanai a nice grass area for our 2 little ones to play on. The owner was very responsive and was helpful in answering questions regarding what to do on the island. We will definitely be back!!!

We have not had a chance to stay at Shawn's condo yet but I had to write a compliment on his considerate customer service in answering questions and providing info even before we had made a confirmed reservation. Good customer service and I look forward to staying in the future.

This was our first trip to Hawaii. We absolutely loved this Kolea villa. The villa was fully equipped and the owner was extremely responsive and friendly. We had a lot of questions on where to go and what to do and Shawn was very helpful. The villa was great and we loved the location. The grass area right outside the lanai was great for our 7 year old he could run right out the lanai and play on the grass. We will definitely be back and recommend this villa to anyone who wants an exceptional villa and dealing with a helpful and informative owner.

We had an amazing time at this absolutely gorgeous condo! It's in a great location - very close some of the best beaches on the island (Hapuna, Mauna Kea, and Wailea Bay) and walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants, and the Hilton and Marriott. We highly recommend the luau and restaurant next door at the Marriott as well as the Ocean Sports Aloha Day of fun water activities at the beach. The pools are also fantastic and the condo is very close to both the pools and beach. This is the ideal place for a family with young children, and there were tons of other families staying while we were there. Our toddler loved the sandy bottom toddler pool and the lawn in the back yard. The owners also reserved a pack-n-play for us and had TONS of sand toys and beach items! We can't wait to return! Shawn was very responsive when we called with a few questions after arriving, and the condo was immaculate.

Our staycation was punctuated by perfect weather and a property second to none. The unit was just steps away from the pool and spa area which we thoroughly enjoyed daily and the location overall felt very secluded. The unit was delightfully appointed and very comfortable,... the six of us were never in each others way. And, since we drove in from Hilo (the east side of the island), we were very pleased to see ample parking available to accommodate two vehicles. Of course taking advantage of the nearby King's and Queen's shopping and dinning facilities was a bonus too. We would definitely make arrangements to stay again!
