The home is beautiful and was a great family getaway. The views are fantastic, the neighborhood is quiet, and the home is not too far from downtown Ruiodoso. The owner always kept in touch to make sure our stay was perfect and even sent weather updates when a snow storm was coming. We will definitely visit again.

Enjoyed a very nice Christmas in New Mexico! The house was wonderful in a gorgeous setting and there was plenty of room for all 9 adults in our family plus our 10 month old granddaughter celebrating her first Christmas! Mr. Munoz was a fantastic host who checked on us periodically to be sure that everything went well on our stay! Would definitely go back!

This spacious house had lots to do inside and outside, and beautiful views for when we just wanted to sit and relax. The kids didn't want to leave! Great location -- pretty isolated with lots of animal sightings, but close enough to other things you could want to do. Donald was a wonderful host.

Fun time with the family

We had a getaway with a group of 3 families! The property was spacious enough for all to have their own space! The property was clean and well maintained. The kids had the best time with the mule deer that visited the property daily!

As the elder (and therefore financier) of our Father’s Day get away we wanted a nice place to retreat from the summer heat and enjoy quality family time. That Is what we found...but much more was enjoyed. The owners have kept this property in pristine condition. The property is very clean, well stocked, and Has plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. A major bonus is the owner actually checked on us throughout the two day stay to make sure all was well. This weekend get away was very relaxing mainly because of this fantastic property!

We have stayed here several times. The house is perfect, beautiful views, and we have had deer come up and visit every single time. The owners are so friendly, accommodating, and make sure you feel welcome in their home. Our favorite place to stay when we visit a Ruidoso!!

Beautiful cabin, very clean, nothing is missing, the owner very attentive and friendly, excellent quality in the beds, the kitchen does not lack anything, everything in excellent condition, I highly recommend it 😃

Where it begin?! This beautiful home, set high on a hill with open 180+ degree views to Sierra Blanca from the main living area was perfect for our active multi-generational family of 9, ranging in age from 12-76. Walking in the front door on arrival there was a collective "WOW" as we stood in the great room, taking in views of the mountains as well as our accommodations. The scenery outside the floor-to-ceiling windows is simply spectacular, and the interior is equally impressive: beautifully yet comfortably furnished, and immaculately clean. Wood floors and granite countertops gleamed. The kitchen is so well stocked utensil-wise for cooking, we lacked for nothing. The pantry, amazingly, is equally well stocked--a fact we weren't aware of before making our grocery run. Be sure to check it before you shop! Likewise the bathrooms, from bandaids to shampoo to lotion (much needed in the dry climate) to multiple rolls of toilet paper and plush towels--ours with our initial on them even! (Ha--we share a common surname initial with the owners.) The kids young and old enjoyed the foosball table. There were decks of cards, poker chips, games for the kids and not so young kids. The large flat screen TVs never even got turned on! Though we looked forward to the fire pit and s'mores, it was a bit cold for evening sitting for this group, half of whom had come from FL. Cold didn't hamper the evening star gazing though, with an incredible array of visible stars, and even some shooting stars. Wildlife was plentiful with elk and deer visible daily grazing below us, and shed antlers discovered daily in our hikes from the house. I could go on and on (in fact have), but to sum it up, it was a perfect getaway for our group. As a topper though, one of our group spent his entire career in the hospitality business, and Donald Munoz, the owner, would be tops in that industry. He's friendly, attentive and readily available to answer any questions quickly, as well as offer suggestions on things to do. It's obvious that he genuinely cares about his guests. His written explanations of the operation of everything from fireplace to heating system was spot on and a tremendous help in settling in comfortably. We all awoke the morning after our departure sad not to be in "our" house still, looking out at "our" mountains. It was a terrific week and could not have been a better getaway for our Christmas get-together!

We enjoyed out summer trip! Sunsets were amazing and the house was wonderful. Donald was great to work with and continually check to see if there was anything he could provide. Two thumbs up!!!

We’ve stayed in/around Ruidoso several times, and this property beat them all. It was beautiful, secluded, and so clean. The beds were great, showers and bathrooms were clean and worked well. The kitchen had the basics stocked and the bedroom setup was perfect. Wildlife visited every morning and evening, and the decks and outside sitting areas were perfect locations to watch them. The owner was so kind and considerate, checking on us, giving helpful guidance, and making sure every need was met. I have never had such a great experience and recommend this home!

Amazing time at Donald‘s property!! By far the best property we have rented through HomeAway. Donald was communicative and available during our entire stay. We were greeted wine and snacks. The house was exactly what we needed for our family and we loved staying just outside of town. Very quiet and relaxing. The house was very clean and the beds were so comfy we wanted to pack them up and take them home with us. We will definitely be planning another vacation to Ruidoso and to Donald’s property. Thanks again!!

We had a spectacular time staying at Don’s place in ALTO for the past 10 days. A wonderful location, on the side of a ridge line, with great views of the valley and Sierra Blanc. Out for a morning 4 mile walk each day, enjoying the cool temps, the animals, and the challenging terrain. The chalet is in excellent condition, exceptionally clean, and obviously well taken care of. Very comfortable for our family of six, with large king beds in two rooms and queens in the others. Having a garage, security system, and a great outdoor fire pit we’re welcome amenities. We were sad to leave; especially our five and three year old grandkids. We landed back home and the three year old said “are we going back to the chalet”. Enough said. Highly recommend you stay here! You won’t be disappointed! I made an excellent choice! Here that noice? That’s me patting myself on the back!

We have used VBRO for many years. It’s always a great experience when there is great communication and things are as advertised. The owner is very organized, nice, and on top of things to make sure you have a great stay. This is a great place to stay and it’s a great place to visit the area. 2.45 hours to Carlsbad Caverns and 1.5 hours to Whitesands. It’s close to all the conveniences and things to do in Ruidoso. It’s also close to the ski resort Ski Apache. It’s about a 30 minute drive to the Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino. We loved the grill and the fire pit. It’s nice that there are not any close houses and there is lots of privacy. The house is fully stocked with everything you would need. There is an Albertsons Grocery store in Ruidoso that is about 15 minutes away. In Ruidoso there are plenty of places to eat. The weather during the summer is very nice. This was our first time to the area and would love to return and stay here again. Thanks!

We arrived for a little skiing and tubing and managed to arrive the day of record December snowfall in the area. What a sight. Beautiful snow, deer and Elk, and great ski conditions. The house was great. We had a full crowd of 10 but there was plenty of room. Everything was clean and well maintained. The heating system worked well and there was always plenty of hot water. The place was well stocked in the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms. Comfy beds and nice towels and linens. The property owner was great to deal with. With the record snowfall in the area, they were genuinely concerned with our safe arrival and went above and beyond, readying the place for us to arrive in front of the storm. Then they continued to monitor the weather and road conditions for us and eventually calling in a neighbor to clear snow from the driveway and help us rescue a stuck vehicle. If you visit in snowy weather I recommend driving a 4WD vehicle. Overall a good value and we would stay again. Would love to try it out in the summer and enjoy the decks and firepit in a more substantial way.

We loved our experience staying in Donald’s house in Alto! From the moment we first walked in, we were overwhelmed by the stunning views of the mountains through the many big windows! On our first morning, we enjoyed watching a herd of elk graze not far from the house as we ate breakfast! (For our more outdoorsy family members, that was tough to beat!) We enjoyed many of the fun games that were provided at the house and also got to cheer on our Red Raiders as we watched a big game on the well-placed living room TV! Each bedroom was so accommodating and each detail well-thought out. The foosball table was a highlight for the teenagers who played several very exciting games, making great memories! Although the property felt somewhat remote since we were sitting on three high acres, driving into town to eat didn’t seem to take long at all. Also, we were able to enjoy cooking in the kitchen and had everything we needed appliance-wise and for serving. I would highly recommend this beautiful house! Oh, and one last important thing. . . I can’t imagine having a better experience with an owner than working with Donald Munoz! He was super friendly from the first moment we booked and responded almost immediately to any question or concern I had. His kindness and thoroughness to detail really took our overall experience to the next level!

The owner checked in on us quite a bit which made us feel very special and welcomed. We were welcomed by 2 chalkboards with Welcoming notes. The views in the mornings of the mountains were breathtaking! The beds were a bit to firm for our liking but other than than that everything was impeccable. The fire pit outside made out evenings very nice and our get together that much better!

Our trip to Alto was wonderful! Donald, the home owner was great to work with. From the moment we booked his home, Donald was able to help me with any and every question I had. He definitely knows how to make you feel like a special VIP guest. We such a relaxing, fun weekend in Alto/Ruidoso. The views from the home are beautiful. We especially enjoyed being able to grill on the patio and make s'mores while circled around the fire pit. Sitting under the moonlight with our family and friends was wonderful. This spacious 4 bedroom house is in great condition with so much to do! In the basement there is a king size bed with small full bathroom separate from the room which is very convenient. There is a beautiful Master bedroom on the ground floor with a huge bathroom, a half bath located by the washer dryer room. Upstairs two very nice bedrooms with a full bath in between. I was mostly excited about the foosball table, bean bag toss and all of the games to bring out some laughs! The kitchen was wonderful with great view of the living room. Our vacation couldn't have been any better. I can not thank Donald enough for making us feel welcome and comfortable at every moment before, during and after our stay!

Our favorite thing to do was to wake up and have coffee on the deck overlooking the mountains. The wild life was an added bonus to the scenery! We got to see several deer and even a few elk while relaxing outside. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook several meals at the house. The house was very clean and comfortable. Donald was very helpful and suggested lots of delicious restaurants and fun activities to do around town. Overall we had a great vacation and definitely will be back!

We live in Texas and have been coming to Ruidoso for many years with our family. This cabin has the best views of any we have stayed at. It's high on the hill with gorgeous views of the snow top mountains. Our favorite thing was the privacy, no cabins close around and can enjoy the deck views by yourself. It's equipped with most everything you need including some games for the grandkids. The bedrooms are on three levels, with a king downstairs by itself with bath, a king bedroom/bath on main level and upstairs 2 more bedrooms with a bath with queens. So everyone has some privacy too. Thank you again for allowing our family to enjoy your wonderful cabin. Hope to come back soon.

My family, my brother’s family and my parents had a very pleasant time at this home. It’s location at the mountain is great with wonderful views from different areas of the house. The house is fully equipped, cozy and very comfortable for our group size (10 people). Our children really enjoyed playing in the outside swings and with the sleights available when it snowed. We all enjoyed the fresh air and surrounding nature including deer. It was very peaceful, but at the same time a very short drive to town. The owner provided excellent, very welcoming service. I highly recommend this property for a getaway in Ruidoso.
