Everything about the house, hosts and location was amazing. Natalie and Colum were excellent hosts. Their communication was responsive and helpful, even before we had even booked the house. The house is truly amazing. If you think the pictures are beautiful, it is even better in person. Every room (and outdoor space) had so many unique design details. The downstairs king bed was very comfortable. The location was great for walking to everything - restaurants, shops, and the tree lined Paseo de Montejo. We felt 100% safe walking around the neighborhood, day or night. We visited many of the restaurants the hosts suggested, and all were amazing.

Words and photos can’t do the Villa Romantica experience justice. The property and most of all the hosts were simply incredible. This is by far the best VRBO experience we have ever had. We rented Via Romantic for the month of February 2023. We had been to Merida several times in the past so knew how much we enjoyed the city but Villa Romantica and Natalie and Colum made us fall in love with this old colonial city. The property is very special. A beautifully renovated old colonial in PERFECT location (walk to everything…and a wonderful bakery/coffee shop 2 doors down). The rooftop garden is glorious in the morning and the evening. The plunge pool provides a lovely place to cool off after a day exploring the city or nearby ruins. Natalie and Colum have seen to every detail for their guests. The linens are lovely, the kitchen is well-equipped (although with all the great restaurants in Merida, we rarely ate at home), the laundry facilities (a malfunctioning dryer was fixed within hours) were modern and easy to operate, and bathrooms were spotless. Natalie and Colum had stocked the frig and pantry for our arrival and had them restocked during our stay. Colum even arranged to add ESPN to the TV channels so my husband could get his morning sports talk show fix. They responded immediately to any questions. We’ve never had such thoughtful, attentive hosts; they treated us like old friends from the moment we arrived. Don’t miss this very, very special experience!

Our family of 6 including a 77 yr. old grandma and 3 children ages 10,10, 5 absolutely loved Villa Romantica. Aside from the home itself, the owners, Natalie & Column were AMAZING. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great trip. From helping with restaurant reservations, groceries, and ultimately securing a doctors visit for our 5 year old who flew with a massive ear infection. They also helped us contact Alejandro for daily excursions and he was wonderful to work with. We cannot thank Natalie & Column enough and we will definitely be back knowing we are in such great hands. THANK YOU both!!!!

Over the last 15 years we’ve stayed in many a vacation rental across multiple countries & continents. We’re always on the lookout for the unique & well appointed place that will feel homey & relaxed, yet be a step above everyday life—it’s a vacation, right?!? I can’t say enough great things about Villa Romantica. The hosts were super communicative, all of the instructions were easy to understand & the property is SO spacious. The setup is great for sleeping privacy but entertaining & socializing ease! We hired a private chef one evening & they were as impressed with the home as we were. Enjoy this magical property.

The house is beautiful and the hosts are more helpful than any we have ever encountered! They made us dinner reservations at some of their favorite restaurants and also set us up with their driver for some excursions. When some issues arose at the house they were immediate in the response and had people there the next morning to fix it! We will stay here again when we return to Merida!

Recommendations and special care that hostess Natalie took with us was extraordinary!! She gave possible activities &!sights to see everyday not to mention excellent restaurant reservations as needed!! Villa Romantica lives up to its name. This is a beautiful rental, and the hospitality shown by Natalie and her team was amazing. On our very first day, we left a laptop bag in the taxi coming from the airport. With help from Natalie and Alejandro (our driver we had not even met yet), we managed to retrieve the lost bag from the taxi driver within hours despite not speaking any Spanish. We felt very well taken care of by the local Yucatecan community. We stayed a Villa Romantica as parents with our four teenagers aged 13 - 17. It suited our vacation needs perfectly. The kids loved the pool and the outdoor deck was lovely. So many places to lounge! We took four day trips with Alejandro as our driver. We were so happy to have found him as our guide. We chose Uxmal, Sisal, Chichen Itza and Mayapan as our primary destinations, and Alejandro filled in the extra stops on each trip. He gave us choices on cenotes and restaurants to work into our plans, and they did not disappoint. He knows the entire region really well - highly recommend.

What can I say it was perfect. The pictures on the site do not do it justice. Natalie and Colum made you feel right at home. If you come Merida you have stay here at villa romántica.. there is no other place better then this house. Plus your are located is in middle of everything .

There was no exaggeration of this lovely property. We considered ourselves very honored to be entrusted with the home. Every room was beautiful and we were torn between going out to explore and experience Merida, or simply lounging near the pool or on the terrace to visit and snack on goodies from the amazing bakery next door. It was a really special weekend, and my family and I are very appreciative of Natalie and Colum, their support team, and the great stay we had at Villa Romantica. The terrace was a great spot for morning reading or afternoon drinks, the pool area and the hammocks were amazing for hanging out, and the bedrooms were comfortable. It was a bit chilly for Merida standards during the time of our visit, so we didnt get to use the pool as much, but it definitely looks like an amazing asset for regular Merida weather. First, this property is in a perfect location, one block from the southern end of Paseo de Montejo. The Villa is beautiful and filled with touches that go beyond any Vrbo that we have ever stayed at. The pool that splits the living room from the kitchen is stunning. The roof deck area was the gathering place for morning coffee and evening planning sessions. Always a cool breeze blowing through. But the best part of this rental was by far owner Natalie. We mined her knowledge of the city for dining and touring highlights. Always spot on. She also arranged for us to get our return home Covid test done right at the Villa making the process stress free. Huge plus!! Thank you Natalie, well done!

Although we might be compelled to keep this treasure a "secret", that would be wrong because it should be shared and enjoyed by anyone who is able! Everything about our experience was first-rate, including all communication with Natalie and her assistant who answered our questions and assisted with requests (early check-in, daily updates about cultural events in town, Covid testing appointments and taxi reservations) quickly and efficiently. The villa is jaw-dropping beautiful with thoughtful, colorful decorating throughout. For us, having three couples (our two adult, 30-ish daughters and their partners) enjoy complete privacy (with equally lovely bedrooms and bathrooms and oh, the showers!) as well as many different places to gather (both a sunny and shady sitting area on the rooftop and dining table, area near the pool and "front room" on the main floor) was ideal. The kitchen is very well-equipped and we especially appreciated the toaster, blender and grater that other rentals sometimes lack. The binder of information was really helpful for taking full advantage of the villa itself as well as food and excursion recommendations. We were so very grateful to be able to spend our first family time together in 20 months in such a truly magical place. Thank you to Natalie and Colum for making the villa available to others. We genuinely hope to return!

This beautiful casa is absolute perfection! I travel quite often & have never experienced such a special home. From the breathtaking design centered around the indoor pool and surrounded by lush greenery, it just doesn’t get any better. The owner is also the sweetest! She really went out of her way to make sure we had all we needed for our stay. No need to look any further - just rent this home, you will not regret it!!

Villa Romantica was everything it was billed to be - in a great location and a beautiful place to stay. The pictures accurately portray the villa and it was fully stocked with everything we could need. We spent our early evenings on the upstairs terrace talking about our day and drinking our favorite Mexican Chardonnay. Great local restaurants were in walking distance as was the shopping. A wonderful little bakery a few doors down had recently opened and we took advantage of their amazing breakfast pastries and delicious breads. Natalie and Colum were wonderful and responsive hosts, making our first visit to Merida an absolute pleasure in spite of the breaking news related to COVID-19.

Natalie and Colum are meticulous, articulate, thoughtful hosts who are well-prepared in all ways, from their manual covering all topics, to their messages about things to do, places to eat. I've been a host for over 10 years myself, and will be rethinking my efforts to be a better host due to my experience with them. Besides being excellent hosts, their place is expansive, clean, well-appointed, and in an ideal location. My group loved going next door to SOCO for breakfast and the proximity of both Paseo de Montejo to the north, and the zocalo to the south. We couldn't have been more happy with our choice. The rooftop deck is a special place and a wonderful addition to the typical hotel/motel type of accommodation. I highly recommend this place.

Our stay in Merida was wonderful, and our experience at Villa Romantica couldn’t have been any better. We have stayed at many different houses all over the world and Natalie and Colum are some of the best hosts we have encountered to date. Their communication throughout our stay was excellent. The house is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. I feel it would be rather redundant to go into a lot of detail regarding the house, as there have been many well written reviews about this special house. If we return to Merida I hope to stay here again.

Beautiful greenery and quiet spaces combined with the warm and welcoming upstairs patio. Enjoyed both immensely! Very organized labeling made lighting a breeze. Receiving daily updates from Colum made day planning easy, many useful tips. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

This colonial home is breathtaking and is equipped for anything you may need during your stay. The central location is easily navigated by walking or taxi. Natalie and Colum are exceptional hosts. Natalie checked in with me during our stay and let me know the various happenings around town. Thanks to Natalie we were able to find a chef in a days notice who was able to prepare a delightful dinner prepared with local ingredients. Truly, there is not a restaurant more beautiful than this home! It was a perfect way to end our trip. Thank you for sharing this beauty with us.

To give context on my review, I am an archaeologist working in the Maya region for almost ten years and have been coming to Merida every year since 2011. Besides being a dream of a home, Villa Romantica is truly situated in one of the best locations of the city. It's a short walk to all of my favorites. Santa Lucia has long been a favorite park of mine with amazing food, music, and dancing. It's lively, but never feels overcrowded. Speaking of food, right next door to this home is Soco Bakery which blew me away. It is so hard to find bread of this caliber in Merida. The cinnamon rolls are to die for and make sure to make note that fresh bagels are made on Tuesdays ;) Back to the location. Villa Romantica is also only a few blocks from the Paseo de Montejo and it is a hop skip and a jump away from two of my favorite bars, La Mezcaleria and La Negrita. It's literally at the heart of it all. The house is beautifully restored and has thoughtful details throughout. I particularly liked how in the entry way a small portion of the original wall painting was left untouched, so that you can see the state in which the property was before its restoration and the skill and care in which they took to maintain its authentic beauty.... Architecture and art history enthusiasts must stay here. In terms of comfort, the house has all the amenities and then some so I'll focus on my favorite parts of the house which were the day bed by the pool and the master bathroom's vibes. I loved that bathroom so much I did my morning yoga in there. If you know Merida, you also know its a very very hot city in the summer. But Villa Romantica is designed in such a way that it stays quite cool and comfortable at all times, which was soooo refreshing after a long day out and about. Although there was AC, we hardly needed to use it. The owner and property manager are communicative and helpful in such a way that no matter what trouble comes your way you can count on their understanding and support. They were there for me in a jam and trust that they would be there for any of their other guests. I could go on all day, but I'll stop here because if you aren't convinced already to book your stay here, I'm not sure if anything will make you happy. This is the spot. Can't wait to come back.
