Great place for two!

We loved staying at the Treasure Chest! The house is perfect for a couple. The bed is super comfy. The air conditioning is great (we have stayed at some houses where the air seems to never get cool enough). There is a lot of foot traffic on this road but you don’t notice when you are in the house. Most of our inside time was spent on the porch overlooking the sound. I thought the laundry being at a different location would be an inconvenience but we made the best of it. It takes about an hour and a half to do two loads and we used that time to explore the area around the lake. The people at the Inn were super nice. We will definitely stay at the Treasure Chest again!!

We LOVED the “Treasure Chest”! It is nestled on the Pamlico Sound with remarkable views off the pack, screened porch. It is convenient to local restaurants, shops, and the lighthouse. We highly recommend this “treasure”’of a place for two! We will definitely return to this new found paradise! ❤️

This house was perfect for my girlfriend and I. This was my first time staying on this side of the island in 30 years and we were able to discover places I had never seen. Springers point nature trail is a short walk away and definitely worth checking out.

Wonderful property for 2! Loved the screened-in porch. We could only stay for a few days but hope to stay longer in the future. We've stayed multiple places in Ocracoke and this was our favorite 1 bedroom accommodation! You cannot go wrong staying here.

The porch and sunsets are spectacular. Easy walk or bike ride to anywhere on island.

It was very clean, great location to walk to most places on the island. The kitchen had plenty of dishes a d cookware. Plenty of supplies to make it through 5 days. The porch was perfect and the view was excellent. If there are people staying in the neighboring properties you can hear them if they are outside. Otherwise very quiet. Check in and check out was very simple. Staff was friendly and helpful. This was perfect for 2 people. Couldn’t have been happier!

Cozy and comfy, everything you need for a relaxing time on the island. With the view you almost feel like you have the island to yourselves.

I have stayed at the Ocracoke Harbor Inn and on this property in Margaritaville some years ago. It was so good to be back! I loved this garage apartment. Everything was so clean and comfortable. The screened porch over the marsh with the view of the sound is a great spot to chill. You could hear a pin drop at night and it's very dark in that area which I like. Great stars at night! Ocracoke is a favorite spot of mine and this is my favorite spot on Ocracoke. You can walk down the beach and on to the Springer's Point trail which is a beautiful maritime forest. I rented a kayak on the lake at Ride The Wind and kept it on the grass in front so I could paddle the pristine waters everyday. I love paddling the creeks and to the backside of SouthPoint where the birds are. So many birds! The carry out from Thai Moon, Dajio's and Helio's were excellent. Ocracoke has great food. I wasn't able to do my usual local music, shops, bookstore and massage with Amy Hilton this time but there was still so much to do. I am happy to see that Ocracoke has made a comeback after Hurricane Dorian. There are some very determined and special people who make Ocracoke a one of a kind sweet spot!

Wow, this place was PERFECT for two. My fiancé and I enjoyed our last minute vacation at the Treasure Chest. The home was very clean, nice furnishings and wonderful location! There is not one negative comment I could make, we can’t wait to come back!

This is a great place for a couple. We loved the location too. The house is obviously very well cared for with a beautiful bathroom and nice furnishings (a welcome change from some rentals at the beach), and we had a wonderful time. The manager is local, very communicative, and on top of things. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect getaway! The screened in porch was a great spot for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. Great peaceful sound views & access. Highly recommend!!

Very fortunate to find this gem on VRBO. It is a beautiful one bedroom cottage on the second floor which provides beautiful views of the Sound and spectacular sunsets. It is ultra up to date, ultra clean and it was so nice to have a couple of days of paper supplies to get us started. The management person was so extremely helpful and easy to contact. Would recommend this for any single person or couple. Convenient to everything. Fabulous Stay!!!!!!

What a wonderful 3 days we spent at the "Treasure Chest!" The view of the Sound was magnificent with gorgeous sunsets. We had everything we needed when we cooked/grilled at home and couldn't have been happier with our stay.

Our three night stay on Ocracoke was wonderful! We enjoyed Ocracoke's gorgeous beach and the beautiful view from our screened in porch.

This was our second year in a row visiting Ocracoke and staying at the Treasure Chest. This cottage is perfect for a couple or someone needing a solo vacation. It has all of the amenities there for you to make a meal (bring all your own food, including condiments/spices), there is a dishwasher and the bathroom is large and stocked with plenty of towels. The bed is springy, so if you have a restless partner there's a lot of transfer of movement and you may not sleep so great. I'm a light sleeper so that may not bother others. Also, don't leave anything at all on the kitchen counters or you'll have lots of ants come in. There are already scouts there and they'll bring reinforcements! We were careful to keep the counters and sink very clean and that helped tremendously. The location of the cottage is perfect: it's quiet and away from the busier activity, and the walk to the sound beach is two houses away. The view is gorgeous from the screened deck and we enjoyed watching the sunsets there. We love the location of the cottage and the amount of space is perfect for us!

1. It is COZY!!! 2. It's super clean 3. Its open design is laid out perfectly 4. It's got 2 decks, one for sunrise, the other for sunset 5. It's soooooo quiet 6. The sunset deck (which is covered, unlike the pictured deck) overlooks the Oregon Inlet, which connects the Atlantic Ocean to the mainland 7. The sunset deck looks right at Portsmouth Island, which is kinda like the east coast Alcatraz: its well-maintained buildings haven't been inhabited in decades 8. You don't have to dash out on the first morning (we checked in late) since there were filters and coffee in the kitchen already 9. Even though it's immaculate and well appointed, it feels just like home--your home as long as you're there--not like a museum or a set for a real estate brochure 10. It's at the western edge of Ocracoke Island, the coolest place on the east coast (you don't think Blackbeard hung out in Martha's Vineyard, do you?) My love and I hadn't stayed under the same roof in over 5 years. Long irrelevant story, the only point of which is this: after nothing but a few phone calls, we knew we were putting everything on the line with a weekend getaway together in person to see if our newfound magic would take. We chose the Treasure Chest. Seemed like a fitting name for a massive, crazy gamble. WOW!!! It worked. We're both kind of still stunned. If you wanna feel like a couple of starstruck teenagers, come here. It's got the goods.

We stayed here for our first Anniversary! It has an awesome view with access to the water. Very clean and neat cottage. Love the area and location. Management was very responsive to any questions we had. Highly recommend ! We will be back !
