Had one small issue. As soon as I contacted the home owner she bent over backwards to make it right. Found her to be a lovely hostess and enjoyed our stay. We also saw elk and caught a couple nice muskies from the lake. Thank you for an incredible get away.

My husband and I stayed for a weekend in August with our two dogs and it was the perfect weekend away. The cabin is beautifully done and very welcoming. Having the fenced in backyard for the dogs was the real win for us, I’d highly recommend staying here, my husband and I would book again in a heartbeat.

We had a great stay! The cabin is very nice. Beds were comfy. Everyone in the area was helpful with fishing tips. Our only complaint would be there is no air conditioning only fans.

We had a great week at Rustic Clam. The cabin had everything we could want during our stay to relax and be comfortable. The room sizes were cozy, but there was plenty of space for the two of us and our two medium-large dogs. The beds and living room furniture were comfortable, strong WiFi and multiple streaming services eased the rainy nights, the kitchen and bath were fully stocked, and the backyard offered everything we needed to enjoy our coffee on the deck, take out the paddle boat, grill some burgers, and roast marshmallows. Plus, multiple strong fans kept us cool.
As others mentioned, the cabin is close to the neighbors, but I didn’t feel it when we were inside or in the backyard. And even when we did see them, it was from a respectful distance and they were friendly—even offering us use of their canoe! The cabin is right off the highway so occasionally we’d hear loud vehicles when outside. Neither issue was a big deal for us.
For us, the location was great. We liked that it was only five minutes to town to pick up the miscellaneous food/personal items we forgot before hitting the road to the near endless opportunities for hiking/biking in the region.
The fenced backyard was a real treat for the dogs, as was the location on the secluded bay, so that they could splash around and we could enjoy the peace of the water and throw in a fishing line. Next time we’ll bring our canoe—it would be easy launch for any boat.
Overall, great place and we hope to return.

We brought our in-laws for a vacation over the 4th of July with our 2 dogs and had a fantastic time! The cabin is set up perfectly for dogs. The fenced in back yard around the firepit area makes it so relaxing. It is a beautiful property and thr walk bridge is very charming. Made some wonderful memories!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Rustic Clam. It is a true log cabin with all the amenities. It has everything you need for relaxing time in the north woods. We had our dog with and there are very few properties with a fenced in yard, allowing him to roam around freely. This was a key perk for us. The immediate access to the lake, available row and pedal boats and pier make lake access simple. We kayaked, fished, swam, grilled out and had campfires. A truly wonderful experience.

The Rustic Clam was a perfect place to stay for exploring the Cable & Hayward area during the winter months. The hosts responded quickly with any questions and were extra accommodating with the changing winter weather. The kitchen was well equipped. I especially appreciated having sharp knives with which to prepare meals. Our kids really enjoyed the loft for a place to sleep and hang out while the adults were able to relax in a comfortable living room, enjoying the retro wood fireplace. The waterfall behind the cabin was still lending its relaxing voice, even in winter.
We are cross country skiers so this cabin is perfectly located to access many different parts of the Birkiebeiner trail system as well as other local trails around Cable.

The owners provide everything you need for a comfortable stay here on Clam Lake- from kitchen tools to a boat! The beds were very comfortable and the cabin was clean and felt like home. We will be coming back!

Everything was Great! Right on the lake with easy access for putting boat in right on property, close to riding trails and the inside was very clean and cozy! Great treasure in the Northwoods, would definitely return. Owners are Great!

This was a great space for our group! From when we first booked , the host Julie was very quick to respond to our messages. The house was great. Bedrooms downstairs were great for adults while the loft was the perfect space for the kids. There were many indoor board games provided for us on the rainy days. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you may need - pots, pans, coffee maker… even a crock pot. The small Bay Area on the lake had an abundance of frogs, snails, and other wildlife for the kids to catch and release as well as a good swimming depth. Overall our stay was great! Thanks again!

The listing for the cabin was accurate and more details about the property and area were provided upon arrival. Julie was very friendly and responded quickly to any questions. We enjoyed our stay at the property, especially the private dock. It was a very relaxing and fun family trip and we would highly recommend this property.

Great Lake Escape
Was a very enjoyable weekend. Check in was easy, cabin was as described. The fence was great for our little dog. Local restaurants were close. The highlight was the location on the lake. Very calm little bay with a constant calming sound of water flowing into a river.

The large log above the stairs that seems to be an issue to many, was not an issue for our family whatsoever!
Enjoyed all the windows in the house to be able to get fresh air. However, if you are looking for complete seclusion and peace and quiet during the day, this may not be the area for you, but it definitely is at night!
Very cute, quaint place and we definitely enjoyed our time there!

It could not have been more perfect.
Location, cabin and surroundings were beautiful.
Julie was incredibly accommodating and was in communicated with us immediately when we had a question.

The cabin is a neat place in a beautiful area with lots to do if you enjoy the outdoors. Inside of the cabin is a calm environment where you can relax after a long day of fishing and hiking. If you enjoy your privacy when you are outside I would recommend flipping the camera up that watches everything going on in the backyard. The pictures are a little misleading, it looks like in the pictures that it is off on by its own, the cabin is located between two other cabins. Fella next door was banging on his pontoon all weekend pretty much as soon as the sun came up. Slightly annoying. We had nice weather and the bugs were not to much of a bother. I do recommend some spray if you plan on doing any hiking though. Julie was nice enough. 4/5 stars due to not being notified that there are cameras they can watch whenever. (I get why they are there but it's unnecessary to have one in the backyard when Julie claimed they were for her to know when guests show up. Who's going to show up in the backyard?)
Overall the experience was good and the hosts did not bother us any. The only thing I recommend to the host to make the stay even better is by getting a new shower head because that thing barely works.
Thank you for the place to stay while we got away from our busy lives for a weekend!

Lakeview cabin was the perfect location-- only 25 minutes to the Birkie start without having to deal with the traffic along Hwy 63. The cabin itself was spotlessly clean and very comfortable for our family of 4-- with an extra bedroom to spare. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking; and the fireplace was our evening gathering spot for recovering after a full day of skiing. Thank you Julie for your kindness and efficient communication. We loved this cabin and hope to be back!

Fishing was pretty good off the dock! Took a drive on Highway 77 & GG saw several deer & Sandhill cranes. Stopped in for a bite at Ransom's, food was really good! We all really enjoyed it!

We had a great 3 night stay. We brought our own boat so it was a great surprise that we were able to launch our boat on the premises. We were able to catch a lot of fish in the small bay right off the dock and most of them in front of the beautiful waterfall. The processes all went well and our family had a great time! No elk sightings for us up there so maybe next time.

We had a great 3 night stay. We brought our own boat so it was a great surprise that we were able to launch our boat on the premises. We were able to catch a lot of fish in the small bay right off the dock and most of them in front of the beautiful waterfall. The processes all went well and our family had a great time! What a wonderful stay we had! We sought out rustic lake cabins and were not disappointed by this one. Warm cozy feeling, the look and feel of an old-timecabin BUT with the necessities of modern life. Our crippled dog was able to make the short walk to the lake for a quick swim any time she felt like it! Owners were prompt and helpful, we had a wonderful three day stay at Clam Lake.

Fantastic Retreat!
Our stay at Julie's cabin was amazing! It was incredibly relaxing and secluded which made this trip a great experience for everyone in my group. Julie was AMAZING to work with and super easy to get in contact with. :)
