This is the quintessential lake house. It offers amazing views of the lake, the sunrises, sunsets, and Milky Way. We spent the week enjoying all the views as well as watching the loons that fished directly in front of the house. We used the provided kayaks to explore Merrymeeting Lake. The house also comes with access to many floats and tubes. The host is responsive and very helpful. The house has everything you could need. It is clean and comfortable. We were able to easily prepare meals in the kitchen. We will definitely book this property in the future.

We had a nice time spending the fourth together. Leslie was a lovely host. The weather was better near the end of our stay, but got a lot of card playing in.

Beautifully clean lake, with fantastic views from the cottage of the surrounding hills and mountains. Cottage is clean and well equipped with all that you need. Family room and bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is a bit small but who cares you're on vacation, use the grill and / or go out, order out there are lots of local great choices! The owner Leslie is terrific, personable and very helpful with anything you need. I'd highly recommend this cottage for a great getaway. Nothing beats that morning coffee by the lake!

Rustic cottage with direct waterfront on beautiful Merrymeeting Lake. The lake is crystal clear and we went swimming or kayaking everyday. The interior was simple and comfortable with great views. This is an ideal rental for a person/couple/family looking to reconnect with nature and each other.

We had a lovely week at this cabin on Merrymeeting lake. The weather was not great, but the interior of the cabin was super comfy with a gorgeous view of the lake!

Cute camp with a beautiful view. Right on the water. Things to be aware of if you have young kids like us (ages 4 and 6). There were a few things that made it a little challenging. The second bedroom is down in the basement and the stairs had zero lighting so we had to go and buy nightlights to light the way. Our 4 year old still gets up in the night to go pee so it made us really nervous having her on a separate floor as us, walking a long ways up the dark stairs and to the upstairs bathroom. We made it work, but just something to note and to be aware of. I was surprised by the lack of lighting in the stairs, even for adults, could be dangerous! Also, the water situation was difficult with young kids. They were too scared to get in where the steps are because of all the waves that would then crash them back into the rock wall and steps. They enjoyed jumping off the dock but then there aren’t any steps right there by the dock to get back up and you can’t easily get onto the dock, you have to swim quite a ways over to the stairs to get out. There was a bit of a miscommunication with check-in and then there is zero service at the camp so we couldn’t get a hold of the owner. We ended up having to drive several miles down the road just to get service and get in touch with the owner just so we could get instructions with how to get in. Once you’re there and you sign onto wi-if the service wasn’t as much of an issue. Also, the listing showed 3 kayaks and a paddle board which we were excited about. There were only 2 kayaks available which meant all 4 of us couldn’t go kayaking together (daughter in our lap), and one of us was always left behind which was kind of a bummer. Lastly, there is no fire pit/no fires allowed which we didn’t realize until a few days before check-in when reading thru the rental agreement. That was disappointing as we always look forward to having a camp fire and cooking s’mores and what not. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, the cabin was very cozy, Netflix is available for the kids / rainy days (which unfortunately we had a lot of). Also enjoyed having all the games and books available for use and Leslie seems to be very nice and prompt with responses. If you’re looking for a nice little getaway on a beautiful lake, I highly recommend staying here! Nothing terrible, I hope my review doesn’t sound too negative, just wanted others to be aware of some of the challenges we faced. Still had a great time!

We had a wonderful week with our family enjoying the lake and house. Everything was clean and well prepared for our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the house was well stocked with everything we needed. Check in and out were easy and Leslie was great. Highly recommend for a family or small group of adults. Very close to Alton Bay, and Wolfeboro too.

This cottage is on a beautiful lake! It has incredible views of the lake from almost every room. We kayaked and fished each day. When it rained, we still enjoyed the view while playing card and board games. We saw the most incredible rainbow coming right off the lake! We would definitely return to this location for a relaxing vacation.

The property is very nice and has a great south shore location on the lake. The water is very clean and and th evisibility is incredible. Overall a great lake cottage.

This was one of our best family vacations ever! Enjoy expansive lakefront views and privacy from virtually everywhere in and outside the cottage...which is decorated very nicely. The water is crystal clear with a sandy bottom, making swimming every day very enjoyable. Owner Leslie was super friendly and helpful, and even took us for an incredible sunset cruise on her speed boat. Highly recommend!!!

I regret that I have to leave a negative review for this rental. The lake itself is beautiful, but the customer service was sub par. The good: - The house was very clean, the carpets and living furniture are in good condition - The lake is beautiful - The wifi worked well - The neighbor Angie who looks after the property is very kind/helpful - The dining room and kitchen is well equipped with wine glasses/cookware etc The issues we experienced: - The beds were not comfortable. The listing noted a new queen bed in the master bedroom, but our experience was that the bed sloped in the center, as if the frame below was broken. We had to sleep with a series of pillows between me and my husband to prevent rolling into the center. - The second issue we experienced was slow draining in the plumbing. This got worse throughout the week and led to a septic problem that backed up into the toilet, bathtub, and sinks (yikes). We are a group of adults only, so we were confident we did not cause the issue. Luckily the owner owns the home next door, and allowed us to access her other home to use the bathroom until septic services arrived. That said, we felt she did so reluctantly and was not apologetic for this significant damper on our stay. - The third issue was with the screen door. Unlike the porch door which is modern, the back door is in an old, heavy wood door with rips in the screen on the edges. The door hinge/compressor was broken, so it slammed loudly when used. Not a big deal. At some point in the week when pushing the door open we tore the screen even further. The owner proceeded to charge us $200 of our security deposit for the screen. - for a home with no laundry available I would have appreciated better bath towels As someone who also rents my home out on VRBO, I find it to be a very poor choice to charge us for tearing the screen in a door that was already in need of replacement. Especially after we already had a very negative septic experience during our stay, which the owner was not very apologetic about.

We had a great time at the camp. Lots of great space for your entire family. Camp was in excellent condition with lots of things for the children to do. We loved the fishing, swimming and tubing. Would definitely rent again!!!!

We rented a Lake house in New Durham NH and it was wonderful. The house was perfect, the owner was very nice, the lake was beautiful. It was a short stay but we enjoyed our quiet time away. Will definitely go back

My sisters and I surprised our mother for her 80th birthday for a getaway weekend on the lake. The lake itself was pristine and peaceful. The cottage was both clean and cozy offering all the basic amenities and more. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake, relaxing on the porch or dock while taking in the beautiful and scenic views. Leslie the owner was wonderful and easy to work with. We are so happy we discovered this hidden gem and hope to return for a future stay!

This is the second year I’ve rented this property, and I’ve already booked my third for next year. Merrymeeting is a special lake with its pristine cleanliness, quiet and scenic location and breathtaking views of the mountains. Au Bel Lac is a special cottage: charming with its cottage feel, rustic but not in an inconvenient way. It all adds up to a spectacular vacation experience. And Leslie the owner is easily accessible should there be a need. Highly recommended!

Our multi-generational family enjoyed the fishing, boating and swimming. The cottage's open floor plan worked well and the deck provided a perfect spot to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee and the sunset with a glass of wine!

Had a wonderful week with friends and family. We spent our week swimming and reading in the yard. The lake was quiet and serene. It was the perfect, relaxing vacation.

Very cozy clean cottage with spectacular views of the lake. What a quiet peaceful stay we had! The kitchen was very well stocked - even had condiments for our burgers! Comfortable living area with a fast WiFi connection and a big screen TV. One of our favorite spots was the dining table with a view of the beautiful lake. We found ourselves just hanging out there talking long after our meals were done. The one thing that could be improved is the sleeping quarters. It rained quite a bit during our stay, and unfortunately the lower level bedroom was unsatisfactory due to the humidity and dank smell. There was a dehumidifier running down there and we emptied it as needed, but it could not keep up with the problem. When sleeping on the bed in the main bedroom, we tended to roll toward the middle of the mattress, which made it rather uncomfortable for two people. All in all, a great cottage on a very beautiful lake. We're glad we discovered this place.

The cottage is perfect. It has everything you need, it's very clean, it feels very inviting. Leslie the owner was wonderful to work with. Check in and out were very straightforward. The lake is very clean and clear and is bigger than it looks from the deck (we were out kayaking for hours one day). We could have spent the entire weekend on that deck just looking out at the water and the mountains lining the lake. What a fantastic spot! Once you pull in you won't want to leave.

My family and I loved our stay! The home is a great summer cottage right on the water. Check in and check out were a breeze. Nothing fancy, but very clean. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to get away and enjoy some time on the lake.

The cottage was in a beautiful setting, right on the water, overlooking Merrymeeting Lake. My daughter and I used it as a central base for fall foliage viewing, and traveled all over from Vermont to Maine for day trips. Comfortable beds and small well equipped kitchen. Obviously geared more to summer visits when the water can be enjoyed, but we loved it!

Wonderful house and a great spot on the lake! Everything in the house is in good shape and well cared for. Leslie does a good job providing the perfect summer rental. Highly recommended. The view is breathtaking. The lake is crystal clear and wonderful for swimming.
