We needed another house to accommodate family in town for a family reunion. It worked about perfectly! And the banana bread was delicious ❤️

The quiet friendly community, the short walk to the ocean, the peaceful back yard that looked on to the marsh and tidal river, the sight of boats, the walks on the nearby sand bars, the comfortable and well stocked cottage, and the accommodating hosts are all great reasons to recommend this cottage as a great place to stay near Old Saybrook.

This property far exceeded our expectations. I don't think the pictures do it justice! Spotless, quiet, comfortable, and quite spacious living areas. The neighborhood was great, both private and local town beaches were just what we wanted.

We couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather or a more serene location to get away from the daily hustle and bustle. The owners gave fantastic suggestions to make the best of our stay, and were a blessing when we accidentally got locked out. The banana bread was a pleasant addition to greet us on our arrival and the neighborhood was welcoming. We absolutely loved our mothers/daughters vacation!

Property was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped for a lengthy stay but we were only there for a couple of nights and did not cook at all. TV and WiFi were provided, beds were comfortable, and the location is in a quiet cottage neighborhood just steps from a private little beach. The back yard looks out over an inlet - a very pleasant place to sit in the provided Adirondack chairs. You need to be aware that there are no bed linens in the cottage and it wasn't mentioned in the property write-up. We were made aware a few weeks before our stay and it was impractical for us to bring our own on a long plane flight. The owner will supply these for a charge, but after I fussed about not knowing this up front, they graciously waived the fee. They also provided a freshly baked loaf of banana nut bread upon our arrival. Scott stopped by to make sure everything was in order and was only a few houses away to respond to any needs. Overall, very nice property.

After growing up in the area and returning many years later, it was a pleasure to take in the area from such a beautiful vantage point on the marsh at Great Hammock Beach. Really appreciate Scott, the owner responding to my asking if the property had a fire pit by dropping off a large Solo stove with firewood for our enjoyment. That is truly Great Hammock hospitality!

This house was so cute and cozy with plenty of room for our group. Communication with the property owners was great. They were very friendly and even made banana bread for us, which was delicious! Would definitely recommend.

Perfect getaway
Where do I even start? Everything about our stay was perfect! We were greeted with a lovely note and delicious banana bread baked by the owner. The cottage was so clean and a perfect size for my family. The neighborhood was quiet and full of lovely people. The beach was so close and perfect for my 9 year old daughter and nephew. Mary Jo and Scott are such wonderful people and we can’t wait to rent from them again 💙

We had another relaxing stay in Old Saybrook. This was our second year renting this cottage and it did not disappoint again. The cottage is very clean, has beautiful sunsets and is yards away from the beach. We came and went with the tide as low tide is our favorite time. This year we were surprised by some delicious banana bread upon arrival which my son highly enjoyed. If you are looking for a low key and relaxing spot on the CT shore this cottage shouldn’t be over looked.

We had another relaxing stay in Old Saybrook. This was our second year renting this cottage and it did not disappoint again. The cottage is very clean, has beautiful sunsets and is yards away from the beach. We came and went with the tide as low tide is our favorite time. If you are looking for a low key and relaxing spot on the CT shore this cottage shouldn’t be over looked.

cute cottage and great location
Booked this for a 6 day stay. Was the perfect size for me and my husband, and his nephew stayed a couple of nights as well. Location is perfect, being steps from the ocean and a short walk to Harvey's Beach. You will need to bring linens, but the property manager will let you know ahead of time. Also, the shower temperature is backwards, just move the handle until it gets hot :)

Previously we've stayed at underwhelming hotels when we've come to this area & we'll never do that again! This cottage was so cozy, the neighborhood was serene and peaceful. and the neighbors we met were so friendly. We loved sitting out back and watching the osprey and the cattails swaying in wind. Our visit left us feeling very well rested! The owners were super nice - we enjoyed homemade banana bread! We loved driving to downtown for shopping and lunch at Penny Lane. Even though it felt a bit remote, we were able to get an Uber if needed which was terrific as I don't even like to have 1 drink & drive! There is a HIGH police presence in this town so we felt very safe and I would encourage you to use Uber too if having a drink. Great little cottage, would definitely stay there again. Bedrooms are roomy & although we were only 2, I could see being comfortable with full capacity. Thanks for a great stay.

We arrived mid day very tired and stressed from our long drive. The cottage was very clean, bright and welcoming. We were 5 adults in town for a family wedding. We found plenty of room for all of us with even a bedroom to spare. We all thought the beds were very comfy too. The wifi worked great which these days really matters. The cottage beat staying in separate hotel rooms giving us a place to relax together. The owners left a delicious home made banana bread in the 'fridge which was a nice surprise. We enjoyed it with our morning coffee. We loved the village of Old Saybrook too. There were many little boutiques and eateries to enjoy. A beautiful little beach neighborhood with a short walk to the beach. Still enjoyed even in October. I highly recommend this sweet little cottage!!

Relaxed and Refreshed
We had a great time staying at this quiet cottage. The owners communicated well, the neighbors were friendly, the cottage was clean and the sunsets were beautiful. Being able to walk to the beach was ideal so we could come and go based on the tide. Hoping this continues to be a rental that we can escape to each year. Thank you Mary-Jo and Scott!

Rented so I could do an online training in peace with a nice view and it was perfect. Wifi was fast and reliable and the living room and back deck were beautiful spots to relax while watching the training. During breaks I was able to grab lunch nearby and take it to the beach, a 1 minute walk from the house. Will come back again with the family next time!

Incredibly peaceful stay
If you're looking for a quiet relaxing vacation this is your spot! the house has a very large kitchen and a wonderful deck and backyard. It is very close to the beach. Perfect for family with small children

Cottage rental for weekend
We were in town for a wedding and this cottage was 10 minutes from venue. There were 8 adults and we had plenty of room. The process of renting was very easy and the owners were very prompt in getting back to you. The cottage was very clean. The cottage is on a quiet street the view from back deck is beautiful. The owner baked a banana bread for our arrival that was very delicious. I would definitely stay here again.

Loved the house, and neighborhood, it's so close to the beach. Also the view from the back of the house was awesome, with a really nice deck. The house had beach chairs for our use. The kids enjoyed the out door shower. The banana bread was delicious and very thoughtful. Communication with the owners was excellent.
