Sehr schönes Hotel mit super Gaststätte. Guter Preis und sehr sauber.

Die Unterkunft im Hotel Oberwaldhaus habe ich per booking.com mittels Kreditkarte vorab bezahlt. Beim Checkout hat man mir gesagt, dass eine Nacht, die ich nachträglich gebucht hatte, noch nicht bezahlt sei. Ich habe meine Zweifel bekundet, schließlich aber in gutem Glauben meine Kreditkarte bereitgestellt. Als ich nach der Abbuchung um einen Beleg gebeten habe, hat mir die Mitarbeiterin gesagt, dass sie keinen erstellen könne. Ich könne ja meine e-mail Adresse hinterlassen, so dass man mir die Rechnung im Nachhinein zuschicken könne. Kurz darauf habe ich mein Konto überprüft und verifiziert, dass die Zahlung an Booking.com tatsächlich bereits erfolgt war. Eine daraufhin erfolgte telefonische Rücksprache mit der vermeintlichen Chefin des Etablissements war so unsachlich und unfreundlich, dass ich mich damit garnicht weiter beschäftigen möchte. Nur so viel, sie sagte, dass sie keinerlei Schuld treffe und sie sich in der Sache daher auch nicht weiter bemühen werde. Ich solle selber sehen, wie ich von Booking.com mein Geld zurückbekomme. Kaum zu glauben, aber wahr.

Hier stimmt einfach alles. Meine erste Wahl in Darmstadt.

Das Hotel ist uns durch vorherige Aufenthalte bekannt und wir waren sehr froh, dass die Übernachtung wieder (nach einer Pause) mit Frühstück angeboten wird. Eine Buchung habe ich deshalb storniert. Auch ist die Bedienung, die für das Frühstück zuständig ist, wie immer mehr als gut. Sie erfüllt alle Wünsche und man beginnt den Tag total zufrieden. Eine positive Veränderung: es gibt einen Kaffeeautomaten dort wo die Rezeption mit diversen Sorten.

Es gibt nichts zu beanstanden.

Restaurant closed. We were only told by a phone message 2 hours before we arrived so could not cancel and find another place with a restaurant. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Had to get a taxi into Darmstadt to find something to eat.

Beautiful location in historic hunting lodge. Attentive, friendly staff and exceptional restaurant. My third time staying at the hotel in three years and it did not disappoint

Nothing to note

The listing on booking.com clearly said that the rooms all included air conditioning. However, a fan is not the same as air conditioning. Otherwise, the room and location were great. We specifically selected the location thinking that we would have access to a cool room on a hot summer day. But this was not the case.

the location was nice. a bit outside town so quiet. they have a nice restaurant so no need to go further!

the only slight complaint was breakfast. it was very limited. would be better with fresh fruit and scrambled eggs!

There are a lot of places to go for walks near the hotel. I liked the outdoor dining although the service was extremely slow.

The breakfast was good but relative to the other breakfasts we had on our trip, it was probably the worst. At dinner we had to nearly beg to get some dessert and then when it came it was subpar. The room was the smallest we had on our trip. There was an oversized bathtub that took up way too much room! If you wanted a nice bathtub, this is the place for you!

Some ladybugs in the room - hiding from the cold outside?

Rooms were newly renovated and clean. Comfortable bed and pillows, very quiet place to sleep and good black-out curtains which many hotels do not understand how to do, so really appreciated that. We met friends for dinner in the restaurant and we enjoyed a nice dinner. We had not seen our friends in many years so we were the last ones in the restaurant but the person on duty never made a problem about it, he went about some of his clean up duties at other sides of the restaurant and left us alone to enjoy our evening which we appreciated. Very nice big breakfast with wide selection of fruit, cheese, meat, cereal, yogurt, you could also have freshly cooked eggs and a freshly made cappuccino as well as coffee and tea. We came down towards the end of the breakfast time and they were very nice about it, asked if we needed anything else before clearing things away and let us finish eating.

The only thing missing is an elevator if you have heavy bags and/or a mobility issue. We did not have too many so this was not a big problem for us to carry them up the stairs. Its a pretty, older house so this is probably why they do not have one.

Inside the forest though only 4 minutes by car from Darmstadt, facing a park and a lake. Parking, good breakfast, spacious and clean rooms with view on the park.

nice and secluded, but close to Darmstadt. The staff were excellent and were always helpful. The food at the restaurant was very good. we stayed in winter so it was quiet. i would definitely recommend to anyone.

A sweet looking like a castle hotel in the quiet woods close by the autobahn. Yammy restaurant for dinner with big portions. Comfortable beds. A big playground nearby.

The pillows are big but I always have my home pillow with me. Breakfast could be a little more varied.

Everything. Plenty of free parking. Friendly communication with staff before and during our stay. Great room that worked perfectly for my small daughter and I. Quiet. Plenty of food opportunities. Staff was incredibly accommodating (e.g. offering to carry up my bag). Would stay there again any time and wish we could have stayed longer.

A very small point: bread not just buns for breakfast (but this is for the picky two year old)
