Great house for a crowd upstairs. Well stocked kitchen for cooking. Back porch ocean very better than advertised. Ground level apartment smells musty and floods in a storm.

This was the first time we have taken a family vacation in quite some time. Unfortunately, it was not an enjoyable stay and became more work than a vacation. The location was nice. The house was not very clean and we had a lot of bug problems. When we alerted the management company, we were informed that they were aware of a bug problem that had been treated a few days prior to our arrival. The bugs were all over the house (termites, spiders, carpenter ants). We were concerned for the wellbeing and safety of our children with the amount of bugs. The management company, after seeing the property, recommended that we relocate somewhere else given the amount of bugs in the home. We had to be separated from our family for one night and then had to take the next day to go through the hassle of moving everything, losing an entire day of vacation. Although we appreciated their willingness to find us a new place, we ended up having issues at the following house as well. The beach access was gone because of beach maintenance, we had to walk a great deal with littles ones and could not even enjoy the pool or outside of the new house because mosquitos were so bad. We were really disappointed with our lack of a vacation with everything that had transpired. Originally the property management company had offered to help us move our stuff to the new location but when asked, they asked what we actually needed help with. It seemed that it was just a polite offer made versus an actual offer.

We really loved the main level of the home. The downstairs suite was very musty so we chose not to use it. Instead one member of our party slept on the couch.

This was a perfect property for our group of 10. There was plenty of space to hang out in the kitchen/sitting area as well as the porch. The beach was a short.walk and having the beach chairs delivered was perfect. The home was clean and well maintained. Beds were comfortable. The only negative which was not anything to do with the host is that it can be a challenge to get uber/lyft reliably out there. I would highly recommend getting in touch with Cool Cab on Folly Beach for a family owned business to transport to and from downtown Charleston and/or airport.

Daughter and family live in Ladson/Summerville so myself, husband son wife sister and her adult children came down to celebrate with them. It was perfect we had beach time and family time. Weather could have been better but we left -10 In Missouri so can’t complain

I booked this house for a girls trip and it was perfect! It fit 8 of us comfortably (with two in the apartment that is accessible from the side of the house. There were also 2 couches that people could have slept on. The deck and the views were beautiful. The house was cozy and nicely decorated. The owners left shampoo, conditioner, lotion and make up wipes samples. Check in and check out instructions were clear and the owners answered all of my questions quickly and were very helpful. The $250 credit covered our beach chairs and a beach umbrella. Quick 30 min cab into the city. The main strip in Folly Beach us a bunch of great restaurants and some fun bars. The house was just far enough from the Main Street that we had to grab a cab. Ubers we’re hard to come by that far out on the island but we called a local cab company which worked well. Pre-booking Ubers (especially to get to the airport) also worked well. It was a great location because the beach is beautiful and was quiet this time on year (late Sept. ) but the weather was still gorgeous and the “downtown” in Folly has a lot going on and has a fun beach town vibe, while you’re also super close to Charleston. They were generous with their check in and check out times since they were done cleaning early and didn’t have anyone else checking in the day we left. Would definitely stay here again!

Good space for a large group
The house provided adequate space for pur group of 8. It was walking distance to the public beach access & the Morris Island Lighthouse & Preserve. We ran a diffuser with essential oils in MIL unit because it was a bit musty. A couple elderly adults had trouble navigating the step from the sliding glass doors to the deck but overall the house worked well for our family.

Beautiful view, clean house
We had a wonderfully stay in a very clean beautiful house. All the facilities in and around the house was very good.
On the downside were, the step going outside can sneak up on you if you do not expect it. Had one person had her head busted and another had a trip down that outside step. Another thing on the outside porch was that some of the chairs is torn and could not be used. The propane for the grill was out. The same person who busted her head got a fine due to her car pointing into the wrong direction (just a heads up for future renters).
Other than the few downs, the ups over weighs the downs.

The house was great. The downstairs unit was a little musty. I needed to wash my clothes even if I didn’t wear them. But, the view from upstairs was amazing. Not sure if our family will stay there again because of the condition of the basement unit

Located on a quiet strip of beach. 3 miles from all the action of 'downtown' Folly. Nice house with relatively easy direct beach access with a nice open kitchen and living room that serves a great social area.

My family and I came down for a long weekend to relax and refresh. We enjoyed a short get away in a beautiful home. The home wasjust right for us and we would definitely stay there again.

The downstairs unit is totally separate, which may suit some larger families well.
It is below ground, and less airy, but the separate nature was more of a plus than a minus.

Amazing house with great views
We had our entire family for vacation. Plenty of space and a wonderful open area at front of house to enjoy the amazing views. The house was extremely clean!! Loved having the washer and dryer in the main bath. The downstairs space smelled a little musty at first but we just opened the windows and let it air out and everything was great. The downstairs apartment is a GREAT space. All bedrooms at back of house. So no views but with having the bedrooms at back allowed the entire front house have amazing views!! No many steps to have to access house which we really enjoyed with small kids and older parent. Quite beach and plenty of room to play and have fun on beach!!! We can’t wait to visit again!!!

NorthStar was the BEST!
I gave this property and the rental agency FIVE stars. My family of four (4 year old and 1 year old) loved the proximity and easy access to the beach. Being able to go back and forth throughout the day leaving our belongings on the beach was very accommodating and easy. The location was perfect, on the quiet end of the island away from downtown Folly about 3 miles. We were a short 20 min drive to downtown Charleston and the Aquarium. The house was very clean, safe, and inviting. We want to come back this FALL. Thanks again

Our family enjoyed your beautiful home . It's one of the best we have stayed in and accommodated the entire family . The view was gorgeous , the deck perfect and kitchen well equipped since we are ( cooks) inside the home and the mother in law suite was just perfect for our Son , Wife and teen . We would recommend ceiling fans for the house and suite and maybe shades for windows downstairs Alex , thank you so much for your help.

Great space. Good location
This was the perfect house for the first time at Folly. Only a few houses down from the nature preserve so it was much more secluded than the middle of the island. House was clean and well maintained. Great central room for entertaining. They even purchased a gas grill after I asked if one was there! Only drawbacks were that the WiFi was cut accidentally before we got there. The real estate agent brought a hotspot but cell service was spotty. In addition, based on the pictures, it looks like there is beach access from the house. There is not, have to walk a few houses down to the public entrance.

Comfortable and awesome!
The pictures do not give this place justice. Nice to be away from the busy beach area. Great stay and when we had a small accident st the house, the owners answered right away to fix the problem. The downstairs is total separation from the main house. Loved staying in there. Bathroom was amazingly huge. Kitchen has everything. They have already welcomed us back, which might happen in the future. Would enjoy this house any time of year with any group of people.

Awesome house. Located far end of the beach! The house was fully equipped with everything you need for a week beach stay. Beds were comfy and bed linens of high quality. House was very clean when we arrived. The basement apartment is handy for people wanting more privacy. The apartment is fully equipped too. It is a lil musky but has a dehumidifier and air purifier. Since it is on ground level it could use window blinds. The views are amazing. There is a beach house directly in front on this one on the beach. We thought we would have direct beach access from the porch but,you have to walk out to the street down to the public access, it's just a house or two. The outside enclosed shower is great after a day at the beach. There is plenty of room, plenty of parking and various porches and decks to spread out. We cooked out using their gas grill. The house is about 4-5 miles from town. Charleston is literally 20 mins away. This was our first visit to Folly and we really enjoyed it. The back yard area is a lil over grown.

Home away from home
Our first time staying at Northstar and we will most definitely be back! Its open layout lends itself to great conversations, and with a large family, it was the perfect way for all of us to connect during our time together. The large deck is perfectly appointed with a gorgeous view and the house is just a short walk to the beach. The outdoor shower made it easy for clean up after a day in the sun, and the bedrooms were all perfectly sized. We were even able to put our toddler in a pack-n-play in the master bathroom so that she slept with no interruptions. The decor is tastefully done and it has everything you would need to make great family dinners. We will be back!

Great Oceans Views with Short Walk to Beach
North Star was a perfect choice for us on VRBO. The home and location fit our needs of three generations with a layout that afforded a private wing for bedrooms plus an in-law apartment downstairs with a separate kitchen. North Star has great ocean views along with many touches of beauty, elegance, and whimsy. Some highlights include: a well equipped main kitchen for the cooks, multiple indoor and outdoor spaces to relax, a short walk to a secluded beach, memorable strolls/runs to bird sanctuary and the Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve, dolphin watching, surfing, kite surfing, happy hour on the deck watching parades of pelicans overhead, dinner on the deck with moonlight reflecting on the water, a hammock, a fun outdoor shower, plus responsive management support. My family looks forward to returning to North Star because it was a very special spot to spend time and build memories with the people we love.

North Star -my Folly Favorite
North Star is my favorite place to stay at Folly. It accommodates my large family giving us both, our together time and space enough for some privacy. This welcoming home has a generous kitchen/living space that you immediately know will be filled with laughter and good conversation. It has several outdoor areas including a covered patio in the front of this home and a very spacious deck in the back looking out over the ocean. Great location for an easy walk to the beach or to the East end of the island. My testimonial is my returning year after year!
