Had a great time ! We picked a very cold weekend to be in Maine, so we mostly stayed indoors. Everyone had a great time. Easy check in and out. Super private.

This was our third time at this amazing property. If seclusion is your thing, this is the place to stay. The eastern side of Mount Desert Island has become a crowded zoo. Bar Harbor is an overpriced, hectic area that has lost all its former charm. The quiet side, where this rental is located is the best area to stay. It is still close enough to venture into Bar Harbor if that is your thing. The night sky at this property is amazing! Not a single artificial light can be seen from this property. It is an astronomer’s paradise. The private indoor pool is a rare treat and great to relax in after some hiking and biking. The yard is spacious and has two fire pits, a basketball court and a sand volleyball area. The kitchen has anything you would need to prepare any type of meal. I can’t say enough good things about this property and have nothing to complain about. Stay here and have one of the best vacations of your life.

For the past 5 years we have gone on vacation with friends, our 2 daughters and theirs (ranging from 6 to 11). Out of all the places we agreed hands down this was our favorite by far! We spent each day hiking mid-day and then hanging by the pool and hot tub in the evenings. Very remote, but close to areas to shop and eat. The house was clean and much bigger than we expected. Perfect for the 8 of us. We did meet owners during the week when they came to mow and check the pool and they were super nice and wonderful to talk with. We have only been home a day, but ready to go back!

We are a family of 7 adults. This house had more than enough room and it was fantastic. The house is secluded and so peaceful yet only a short drive to anything on the island we wanted to visit. Morning coffee on the porch was almost therapeutic. The kitchen and pantry are the best stocked kitchen we’ve ever had at a VRBO property. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet yet fun stay. The indoor pool was a huge hit for rainy days!

The property was excellent. Kitchen had everything you would need. The pool and hot tub were great amenities. The kids really enjoyed it. Would definitely stay again in the future.

The house was amazing, the pool was terrific, and the owners were outstanding. Yes, this is on the backside of the island but it was perfect for us. We loved having all the inside and outside space. Thank you very much, Shelly and Ricky!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this home, which has so much to do for kids both on the property and in the region. The spacious yard and basement are great, and there is plenty of room to spread out and relax. The indoor pool is of course a huge draw to this home, but unfortunately left us disappointed. The pool caused lung and eye irritation in all of us, and our young children developed a painful rash. The owners were very responsive when we reached out about this, and suggested adding a very small amount of hydrogen peroxide and gave us access to this as well as test strips which were initially locked up. The test strips revealed that the pH of the water was VERY acidic. The owners then promptly came the following morning to adjust the chemicals, though they took the test strips with them and so we did not feel comfortable using the pool for the remainder of our stay. It may be wise for future guests to inquire about professional management of the pool and water testing.

Another awesome week! This is our third year renting this house. Such a great spot for families. Kids love the pool, close to so many great hikes/trails and short drive to bar harbor. The owners are super responsive and helpful. Thanks for sharing it with us!

The house was large and beautiful. Very clean, a great location for visiting Acadia National Park. We were unable to use the pool however because the amount of chlorine in the water (and air) in the pool room caused our eyes to burn/water, irritated our skin and made us all cough (within minutes even after leaving the windows open in hopes of airing the room out). It doesn't seem like many other visitors encountered this during their stay, so it's possible that the pool was recently treated prior to our stay- but was a definite bummer since that was a major reason for our booking this property.

Great property for a family vacation. This was our second time at this property, and just like last time everyone enjoyed their stay. Property owners were very responsive to any questions or concerns. House and pool were amazing.

My family and I enjoyed staying at this property for the new year. We swam in the pool daily, cooked food, and ate family-style. We sat in front of the fireplace, and we even battled each other in a game of ping-pong. We ventured into the town of Bar Harbor and it was a cute sleeping town during this time of year we found one restaurant that was open and my husband got to enjoy a nice hot butter lobster roll. We were happy to hike all the way to the gulf of Maine and the weather was not cold, and it only snowed once while we were there and in a couple hours you didn’t notice that it snowed at all. The house was very secluded the kitchen was well packed, and I appreciate how it was easy to contact the owner with any questions. This was our first time spending New Year’s out of state, and it won’t be our last because we enjoyed it so much. Thank you again for sharing your home with us.

I’ll preface this review by saying this was our third time at this property, and prior to this visit, we had no major problems. The house is huge, but there’s a lot of wasted space. The kitchen is stocked. There is only a Keurig, so come prepared for that (we just bring our coffee maker with us). The beds and furniture are very soft — a positive for some and not for others. The major issue this time was the pool, but more so the owner’s reaction. The pool is the reason we come to this house. We have kids, and they love bringing their friends to the pool house. There was black algae in the pool. It covered most of the ladder, it was all around the drain and any areas where the liner was wrinkled. We contacted the owner, and they told us they noticed it the day prior, did what the pool people told them to do, that it would be gone in 24 hrs, and that it was harmless. Many aspects of that response aren’t accurate — we spoke to the pool people (at the owner’s request), and they couldn’t guarantee it was harmless, they told us the protocol for removing black algae takes days and renders the pool unusable for that time period (I’m interested to see any reviews from shortly after our stay). The owners noticed the algae in the pool and didn’t tell us ahead of time. Even if it was actually harmless, it looks awful so a heads up seems appropriate. We didn’t use the pool, and they gave us one night’s refund. They offered us a full refund if we had left immediately.

This place was amazing and exactly as advertised. So big, spacious and clean. Everything you need PLUS! Something for everyone from relaxing (indoor pool and hot-tub) to competitions (basketball, volleyball and ping-pong). Location is a bit remote so you feel a little isolated at night, but waking every morning to deer in the front and back yards was a wonder to behold. The host was super responsive to questions and/or comments. If you get the chance - stay here, you won't regret it!

This property is secluded on the quiet side of the island. At the same time it is close to great hiking, biking, and Bar Harbor. It is an astronomer’s dream with no artificial lights visible from the property. The Milky Way stretches from horizon to horizon. The house is huge and the indoor, in ground pool is perfect for when the outside weather does not cooperate. This was our second time at this property and we plan on going back again.

Loved pool. Hot tub, gourmet kitchen.. love fact that no shoes in the house ( we never wear shoes in our house either), makes you feel clean, beautiful backyard, front yard.. just so relaxing.. house well kept, clean.. beds were comfortable..wish there were 2 full bathrooms upstairs..only little inconvenient..but overall, very homey feeling. Though little secluded, drive to bar harbor, Jordan pond.. was easy..went for sunrise, sunset, Cadillac mountain..just beautiful place.. and when got home tired, enjoyed pool & hot tub..

HUGE house with everything you could need! The pool was so fun with the kids. We were just able to relax and enjoy the property. We did go into Bar Harbor a couple times, the commute was easy even with the MDI marathon going on! We will be back! :)

This well kept, clean and spacious home was a perfect fit for our family of seven. The beds were super-comfortable, the kitchen has everything one might need, and the large outdoor, living and pool spaces were ideal for family activities. We had great weather and spent most of our time in Acadia and vicinity but could have been content to have been rained in for a few days in this wonderful home. Highly recommend the home to anyone visiting the area!

If you’re looking for lots of lots of space to spread out and to play, this would be a good place for you. Not very cozy, but plenty of room. The star show at night was fabulous. The owner was very responsive to the few issues we had.

This house was amazing! I am begging my husband to build me an indoor pool which we enjoyed everyday! The basketball court was an extra bonus that my husband and son's loved. The beds were comfortable and house was very spacious. We would highly recommend this property.

Such a beautiful place for a fall family getaway!

This was our first visit to MDI and we wanted to have a little more room than a standard hotel or B&B. The home was incredible. It was beyond spacious with plenty of room to hang out. The kitchen/dining room was open so I could cook and still see/talk with everyone. The kitchen had every possible appliance and gadget to prepare meals. The beds were comfortable and all linens were supplied. The pool and hot tub were great for unwinding at the end of the day. The home is in a very quiet neighborhood on the Southwest side of the island. It was less than 20 minutes to the nearest park entrance and around 30 minutes to Bar Harbor. But there is still plenty to see and do on that side of the island if you want to avoid the tourist traps and explore a bit. There were a couple of lobster pounds/shacks close by as well.

Our party of six agrees with most of the previous reviews. This is a clean, uncluttered, and spacious place; there was plenty of room. The kitchen has a more complete set of tools and basic ingredients (e.g., spices, baking power, honey, etc.) than other places we've stayed. Everyone had a restful and enjoyable time. The beds and furniture were very comfortable and the kids found plenty of fun activities.

We were very impressed in everyway....we will be back!!

You are sufficiently isolated from the rest of the world, staying at this VRBO - and that's a great thing! A private driveway leads you up through the woods to this spacious, modern and quite unique abode. From the deck or porch you can take in views of a thick pine forest which wraps around you like a snuggly blanket. On a clear night, you can walk out onto the cool grass and it's like you've stepped into the cosmos. I called the rest of the family out to lay on the lawn to take in the stars and we were all humbled. It brought me to tears. Shooting star sightings were ubiquitous. The house is big and clean, there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out. It's an ideal place to come home to after long days of hiking Acadia or sightseeing. The homeowner had a lot of helpful laminated signs around the house, guiding renters as to the isms of the house, do's and don'ts etc. To me, this demonstrates the care that they take to ensure a safe, clean experience. You'll have large bedrooms, restrooms, kitchen and ample living space to hang out. There's an indoor pool, hot tub and a deluxe shower that sprays you from every angle you prefer. Our party included 7 people - 4 adults and 3 teens. Everyone had plenty of space to spread out, so as not to annoy one another. Despite the seclusion, this property was 30 minutes away from most places we visited - Acadia and Bar Harbor. A lot of driving up there in order to see all the best spots so it was nice to come home to this truly awesome place. Some final notes: the landlord was extremely responsive to questions. We were in communication every couple months from a year out, just gathering intel for our pending trip. Very kind and helpful people. At the end of every day our family did a "roses and thorns session," where we would rate the activities of the day. This house continuously was a ROSE for our group. The only thorn, which was perhaps foreseeable given the magnificent wilds of Maine and this property - there were mosquitoes that would draw your blood like a team of phlebotomists. We didn't experience this at all while hiking Acadia for whatever reason, it was mainly around the yard of the property. We brought citronella candles with us and the skeeters were seen doing shots of it and buying rounds for their buddies. I would recommend the landlord try to deter these critters, however possible so the property grounds can be used more fully. Overall, loved the Quietside Compound!

It was a joy going through Vrbo. Our Host was excellent and always answered our questions quickly. The home is phenomenal; spotless and well maintained!
