Outstanding location and views

We have vacationed at OIB for decades. My BIL and I saw this house a several years ago and feel in love with the aesthetics. In the mean time, we have rented the house next door while trying to reserve 143 but could never get in for it stays booked. This year my dream came true for us to stay. It was everything I thought it might be. The main floor is so homey but spacious enough for our family of 21. The little side rooms and spaces were perfect for littles to watch tv or play while bigger kids built puzzles. The living room was open but divided for adults to play games while others sat to the side to watch. We enjoyed the third floor deck daily. I didn't think I would like the layout of the rooms (being on the second floor, and with the game room down there) but it proved to be just right for everyone for various reasons. Then of course the location; it's perfect. The West side is the Best side. Having access to the sound and beach front is truly premium. My only criticism is the kitchen needs a good cleaning and tending too. Pots and pans are in want, as well as utensils. Otherwise a perfect stay that we hope to repeat.

From the tide pools, to the ocean waves, to the marsh area, this property is just beautiful. The pool was a great asset. The adults found a variety of golf courses near by. Kayaking was done in the marsh and the sunrises and sunsets from the decks were amazing. Thanks so much.

We had a great family vacation here. at low tide it was the perfect place for young kids and toddlers to play with a large beach area and shallow water for then to play in. The house was clean and as described. The pool was a great hit with everyone and the decks had great views.

Overall we had a lovely vacation. The location is perfection and the house was spacious and had everything we needed. The bookshelves of kids books were so great and the little kids loved being able to pick from the library each night :) We had some initial issues with the key pad and the A/C upon arrival. However the management company and Gail were very responsive and both the issues were fixed. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.

This house is as huge as it looks online. Plenty of space for everyone. Gail is wonderful to work with. She is very responsive, even on Thanksgiving day. The kids and adults both loved the direct beach access, the sound access and fishing and shell seeking at the inlet. We will definitely be back!

We also loved the gorgeous sunsets on the front deck. The high and low tides were so cool to watch because of our location. The pool was great in the afternoon, after a morning at the beach and they did have people come and test the water during our stay, so that was peace of mind. We had everything we needed for our in house meals in and plenty of seating for our large group. We rented linens from a local company and they were late getting there due to the busy holiday weekend, but were very friendly and professional. Highly recommend doing that for convenience. It is a special house in a special place and we will cherish the memories that were made.

This large home is in a fantastic location on a very private and picturesque section of beach at the end of Ocean Isle. The views are beautiful from every porch. Our kids really enjoyed fishing on the inlet side in front of the house and the pool was a big hit as well. The kitchen was very nice and well stocked. The rest of the interior would benefit from updates (mattresses, bathrooms, broken arcade game, etc). The owner was very responsive and easy to work with.

What could have been a glorious experience left us definitely looking for another place for our trip next year. While the owners was available to us when additional problems did occur, the lack of attention to what should have been simple checks prior to our stay clouded this rental. We understand that there was a storm a few days prior but for the thousands and thousands of dollars we were paying, you would think that they would have sent someone to do a final check before we arrived. We started by getting settled and finding dead bugs everywhere that we cleaned up. We then tried to see the million dollar view and couldn’t get past the dirt and filth on the windows. My husband spent 2 hours cleaning doors and windows before the rest of the family arrived. We paid extra to have the pool heated and one of the days there was no heat at all. The pool area itself was dirty with mulch and sand and 3 visits by the pool people did nothing for that. The second deck was a mess of turned over chairs and strewn pillows. Once again, all of these could have been avoided with a little cleaning beforehand. When I complained to the owner she went a cleaning crew but we had already completed the work and they still didn’t clean the deck!! The drawers and cabinets were full of crumbs and dirt. Puzzles available for us contained messed up pieces. The lights at the pool and along the walkway to the beach were all burned out. We had one light in the pool itself but no outdoor lights. All in all, it was dirty and just not up to par. They also need to spend some money updating as when we opened a window the entire thing fell to the ground. They had a little Florence water damage and the spackle was still all over the walls. My brother rented a larger and much nicer house on the beach with pool and hot tub the week prior for a thousand dollars less-we will go there next year.

We stayed at the house ten days after Hurricane Florence hit Ocean Isle and The house and beach are in excellent condition. The house is comfortable and the views are stunning. The owner was very communicative and accommodating. We were at the same section of the beach for Labor Day weekend and we thought maybe a few more sandbags at the west end were exposed after the hurricane, but otherwise it all looked the same. Such a relief! Bring your beach chairs.

We spent Labor Day weekend down here with a group of families who are all friends and had a blast. The rooms are great, the views and porches are breathtaking and between the pool, the sound and the secluded beach at the end of the island it is hard to imagine a better place to get away and unwind. I think there is an excellent argument that this house is the nicest place to stay on OIB. Excellent views of sunrises and sunsets. Easy access to both ocean and ICW. Truly a unique environment. Gail and Rick are excellent hosts and were extremely accommodating. The place is very well thought out with most of the bedrooms on the first floor and a very large open area on the upper floor for cooking, visiting and relaxing. Kids loved the game room with Ms. Pacman and Galaga when they wanted a break from the sun. I do recommend that you go ahead and rent linens and towel services. If you are thinking about renting this for a family get together or a truly great vacation go ahead and pull the trigger. You won't regret it.

Earlier this month, my husband, friends of ours, and all of our children and grandchildren gathered at this magnificent home for the reunion of a lifetime. Everyone after the fact described the vacation as definitely exceeding our expectations. The beach there is a truly best kept secret...sparsely populated and lovely with spots for all ages to play safely. Nightly ghost crab hunting became the favorite evening activity! The house is everything that was described--lovely, large, well equipped with excellent and rapid assistance when called to deal with a refrigeration issue. Our group of 22 plus one aunt who appeared for several days had the perfect location for talking, playing, cooking and eating, and just visiting to catch up after years apart. Coffee each morning on one of the several decks was a requirement and started many a day for those who were early birds. Getting to know each other's grandkids was a highlight and there were so many options for us to utilize in making that happen. Board games and books, the pool, the game room equipment, and fishing were some of the ones we enjoyed. In addition, this crowd are a bunch of chefs! Everyone took turns using the well equipped kitchen and the outdoor gas grill to prepare specialties and inspirations. Kitchen equipment was extensive and we lacked for nothing, taking only a couple of items with us "just in case." (Gail, the blender didn't seem to work...please check.) Grocery stores were conveniently located and easy to utilize. The owner, Gail, had provided us with so much information that we felt guilty when no one actually went out to eat because we had so much fun staying in. Bathrooms were plentiful, room configuration was perfect for us, bedrooms were comfortable, and we would absolutely use this property again should we have such a large group. Something to note: umbrellas ARE allowed on the beach, but popups are NOT; several folks who had put them up were requested to remove them, apparently related to the turtle population for which there is an informative presentation each week. Not a problem for us as we had both. My one suggestion for Gail is that all of the wonderful information that you provided me prior to our departure for NC should be also compiled into a book or binder for use at the house so that it is readily available for your renters. Thank you so much for your help, information, and thoughtfulness as you shared your special place with us!!!

Twenty of us converged here from across the eastern seaboard for a 4-day family reunion. This beautiful home provided ample room for us to visit, cook, dine, and even swim (heated pool) over a long Thanksgiving weekend. While many houses we considered renting provided ample bedroom space, this is one of the very few we found to accommodate all of us comfortably in the dining and living areas of the home. Those common areas also provided the most relaxing panoramic views of the ocean. The deck on the Sound side provides beautiful views as well, and if you're lucky, you may spot a bald eagle while enjoying your morning coffee.

Wonderful location for a family vacation.

The best word to describe this place is "AMAZING". The house is beautiful and has spacious open floor plan. It is ocean front on one side and an inlet on the other side. We had a family reunion at the house on Labor Day weekend and the kids enjoyed the pool and fishing on both sides of the water. The beach is very clean and secluded. My family all complemented me on picking such a perfect house, location and perfect reunion. Again, thank you Gail for sharing your home with us and I will definitely recommend it to all my friends.

You will not be disappointed with this house. It is beautifully decorated, very clean, kitchen is well stocked, and beds are comfortable. There is lots of decking with plenty of tables and chairs to sit in to enjoy the awesome views, sunrises, and sunsets! The pool was clean and a good size and plenty of lounge chairs to soak in the sun. There were 13 of us girls who work together away for a weekend retreat, and this is definitely the place to be to relax and recharge! There is a long table where we could all be together to share in good food, and while enjoying your meal, you are surrounded by lots of window space and sliding door looking out to the magnificent views. The owner is wonderful to work with and was always prompt in responding. You will definitely want to come back once you stay here!!

In a word; WOW! Walk on the beach, look at 143 Ocean Isle Boulevard West, and you will agree -- this is the island's best looking property and best location. It's position on the island's west-end inlet yields spectacular views in every direction with amazing contrasts at high and low tides. Walk 30 yards to get wet at high tide while low tide yields 200 yards of flat beach with tidal pools for kids young and old to splash around in. We saw huge porpoises chasing fish near the inlet - it was amazing. The clean and modern home has incredible deck views and a fantastic pool. My dream girl and I had a small but magical wedding poolside that we and our guests will remember fondly for the rest of our lives. We can't say enough great things about this beautiful beach home.

My family of 21 had a wonderful stay at OIW 143. The house and location were incredible! There was plenty of beds for everyone. The kitchen was perfect with two large refrigerators. The decks were perfect for watching the kids in the pool or watching people on the beach. There are no words to describe the beautiful views. The house was fully stocked with all our needs and very clean. The house is located fourth from the end of the island which offered plenty of privacy. The kids had a great time in the pool with provided floats. Can't wait to go back!!!

We are fortunate to have spent our vacation in this breathtaking beach house for 10 years, and it's beauty never escapes us. Set a few houses from the Intercoastal Waterway, this home offers privacy and a beautiful beach area. If you love sitting on the beach taking it all in, you will fall in love with this place for sure. The home itself is not your typical beach home--it is beautifully furnished and offers all the comforts of home. A unique and wonderful getaway!

This house is spectacular with its stunning views of the ocean from three different decks and its spacious kitchen and living area. Plenty of room with 7 spacious bedrooms for everyone to stay comfortably and the pool is absolutely gorgeous! I would highly recommend this house!
