I found the house easily, with good directions- the hosts were off-island when I arrive and had arranged for someone to meet me and hand over the keys. This person didn't speak English, but we communicated fine with Google Translate :) Sadly I visited during a really bad storm and couldn't leave the house for 2.5 days, so it was good to have somewhere comfortable to stay. The kitchen had everything I needed apart from a sieve (I bought a cheap one and left it there!) Once I could explore, the house is located well, quite central on the island, so it was easy to get to different places. Facing east, you get nice light at sunrise. The garden is lovely but with the bad weather I didn't get to use it really. There's a supermarket in the nearby town which had most stuff I needed. The hosts were responsive on WhatsApp with any questions I had.

I guess the only problem was the millipedes that come into the house sometimes - I scooped them up on paper and put them outside but sometimes they were quite insistent on coming in through small gaps in the window! This seems to affect the whole island, I went to a cafe and there were loads there too! Perhaps it was because of the rain?

It seems me that people in this climatic area are not used to heat their houses when it`s chilly. Instead, they take warm clothes and warm blanket. However, I live in North and am used to well-heated rooms. My visit was in December and as it is about 1 km above the ocean level, the room temperature when not heating was about 17 C (more on sunny midday), which is too little for me. There is a small metal oven in the room and wood is provided, but to heat it, I had to select smaller and dryer wood plus pick up small branches from the cove in the yard. Therefore, I wondered if the oven is more for heating or for decoration. When heating, the temperature increased rapidly up to 20, but dropped again when there was no more fire in the oven. However, if you visit during warm season and/or like cooler room, this is OK.

I really enjoyed my stay in Casa Imeldo and Eloisa. The location is very good to visit the rest of the island, and even better to enjoy the sunrise, the solitude, the silence, the nature,... But the best thing is how friendly and nice Eloisa and Imeldo were as hosts of this casa.
