The description of the bedrooms/beds was inaccurate and kind of put us in a bind. It left 2 people to sleep on the couches.

This was our first VRBO vacation. Home was lovely, perfect for our family with room to spare. Great yard. Great location. Loved being so close to the trail for walking and biking. Communication with host was prompt and friendly.

This trip is a traditional gathering of family and friends that have been meeting in this area. For us it’s been over 30 years and counting. We needed larger accommodations this year and this rental fit the bill perfectly. Large house with well maintained grounds and being able to bring our dog was a big bonus. Nice location to enjoy Elberta, Beulah, and Frankfort as well as spend time with friends staying at a resort a little further south. The house has everything you need and more even though most of your time is spent outdoors enjoying all this beautiful area has to offer. We hope to be able to get this house again the same week next year.

Location is great to do downtown Frankfort, to Lake Michigan and to Crystal Lake. We had a lovely time. Plenty of room for 8 women to sleep comfortably. Plenty of seating both inside and outside. It was a lovely location.

We appreciated the big yard for the kids and dog to play. The property is located in a quiet town close to numerous hiking trails and other tourist attractions. There was ample space for our group of 10 to relax on the porch or in the sitting room or living room to play games.

Six adults and one dog from Phoenix, Kansas City and Philadelphia converged on the Candy House, and it was perfect! We all had more than enough space, and the location was ideal, between Frankfort and Onekama. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay!!

This lovely home was perfect for our group. Even with a large group, we still had plenty of space to move around. Awesome location to get to so many places and downtown Frankfort is very charming. We had a great stay!

Great location & charming older home! Walk or bike everywhere. Owner was excellent to deal with on variety of topics.

Such a cute charming house, just like the photos! Very spacious for our group of 7 ladies, having 2 1/2 baths was perfect. The open floor plan was really nice for hanging out and talking and game night at the dining room table. The house was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking and meals, great showers/water pressure and it was sooo nice to have AC units! It has some of that old home charm with modern amenities. I loved the location a lot, Elberta is so small and cute with a few local spots to walk to, the Betsie bay trail right there for bike rides and right around the corner from beautiful Elberta beach and Furnace Street Distillery which I really recommend! (Amazing views and drinks) great home base for all the things you want to do in the Frankfort/Empire/Honor area!

The house has everything you need and is in a great location. On a quiet street and plenty of space. Kids loved riding the bike trail to Crystal Lake and the beaches the best.

Relaxing vacation
We had a wonderful stay at the candy house! The home is cozy and the host does a great job of making sure that guests have everything they need while visiting. Located in a peaceful place and so close to the lake and all the beautiful spots in the region!

Delightful
We had a wonderful time at this home. It was so nice that it accommodated a couple of families and was close enough to all the “up north” activities we were hoping to do. The owners were quick to reply to us when we communicated with them. Great place!

Huge house with tons of character
This was the second time we rented this house. Three families and two dogs up north for a ski weekend. Love the sleepy town of Elberta. Close to everything you need. Frankfort across the bay. Crystal Mountain a 20 minute drive. The old house has plenty of rooms, beds, and spaces. Furnished very well. Easy to book. Very accommodating owner. Plan to rent again!

Relaxing getaway with friends
I enjoyed staying with my husband, 7 adult friends and 1 child at this large and versatile Elberta house. I hated to leave! The dining table easily seated all 10 of us, which was perfect for eating our meals together. The table was nice for playing games, crafting, and planning outings. I spent mornings reading and chatting on the front porch, appreciated the glider. We could easily walk to nearby village restaurants and streets and on the recreational trail to Frankfort. All but the two bunk rooms accommodated adults well. Also, outdoor gas grill worked great. We all would have liked brighter light fixtures over the dining table and in the library room (to avoid having to move lights around to brighten areas), and a dresser or shelves in the first floor bunk room. These improvements aside, house enabled a fun vacation gathering!

Great family time
House was perfect for our 3 family Michigan reunion. Spacious yard, 5 beautiful maple trees, swing, birdsong, ample socializing space indoors and front porch with trundle and rocking chair. Well equipped kitchen and household necessities. Charm and comfort and the window A/C units kept us cool on the warmer days. Loved the old-fashioned parlor with TV. Games in cupboard. We had a wonderful time!!

Mini family reunion
Enough room for 9 kids and 6 adults. Cute and charming. Huge side yard for wiffleball, soccer, bubbles, firepit, tree swing. 2 minute drive to beach parking lot. Kids loved the hikes up and down the bluff to the beach with great views to the south. Michelle was very responsive to my questions. Overall good price for sq footage, yard size, and proximity to beach, Frankfurt, and Arcadia. Recommend if you are down to earth and don't need gold finishes to have fun with your family and friends : )

Excellent location
We had a great time in a quaint house close to a bike trail. Would have liked to have known about plugging in the window unit AC into a different outlet in order to avoid shorting the fuse but other than that, once we got that straightened out, it was great. Communication with the host was excellent from the moment of booking to any questions we had while we were there. Would stay here again.

Space to spread out
Nice big home with lots of space to spread out and a great kitchen too. Definitely an old house with lots of original charm and quirks to go along with it but was a great fit for our snowboarding trip. I imagine the location is amazing in the summer as the dunes are so close.

Elberta stay
We had a great stay! We enjoyed a weekend in Elberta with our family of four and another family of four. Kids' ages ranged from 3-7. The house worked out great for two families, we had plenty of room (there were a few empty beds!) and the kids enjoyed the bunk bed options. House was clean and well-stocked with everything we needed, including toys and games. The large yard was great for outdoor play (we brought a soccer ball), happy hour, and fires. We enjoyed the close proximity to everything. Nearby we enjoyed taking a walk on Frankfort's beach, Five Shores Brewery in Beulah, and the Cabbage Shed in Elberta (could easily be walked to but it was less than a two-minute drive for us).

Quiet Little Town
It was a perfect place for a mix of family and friends. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms! The kitchen was fully equipped and there was wonderful outside space! The place was also very attractive and clean. We were there during an early autumn cold spell and were grateful for the whole house heating system. Would definately stay there again!

This house was a real gem
Nice big house was plenty for our extended family of nine. The location is great. Super close to Elberta and Frankfort beaches. Make the trip up to sleeping Bear dunes if you stay here it's well worth the drive. What really stood out to me about this house where all the small thoughtful touches. Beach chairs camp chairs the fire pit set up with chairs they really have thought of everything and you really don't need to bring anything besides maybe some extra toilet paper and paper towels if you go through a lot like we did. I definitely recommend this listing

What a fun, perfectly picturesque house! Held 7 very happy adults in multiple rooms. Very easy walk to the Elberta dunes, which I highly recommend. Thanks for the great stay!

Unusual and interesting neighborhood
This old house has many good features, room for several conversations to be going on at once. Elberta offers nearby restaurants & great coffee and bike / kyak rental facility only a block from this house. Access to Frankfort is easy & the whole package offered our family a nice retreat.

Great place to stay with family, room for everyone. Quaintly decorated inside, clean, well furnished, close to beaches & town. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Beautiful home located near to beautiful Lake Michigan and tourist town.
Our family had a wonderful time in this charming, spacious, and comfortable home. The exterior is beautifully done, and the inside is roomy with lots of space to gather or separate as needed. The main living areas were excellent for our group of 9, and the bedrooms were so cute!
The house is set in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the dunes (though there is no close lake access), nature, and the quaint downtown Elberta. We loved that we were just a block away from the local antique store! The yard is great too! The only bummer was that the main porch looks across the road to someone's garage and the backs of a couple of business. So not a great view, but still a nice location.
It's also a quick drive down the road from downtown Frankfurt, a scenic overlook, and a beautiful beach. Everything was so close - it was wonderful!
The only true downside that we experienced during our stay was that the trash from the previous occupants had already filled the outdoor trash bin and was also stacked on top of the bin very close to the outdoor seating area in the back yard. This made it challenging to take our own trash out when needed, and also meant that we had to smell it if we were nearby. Perhaps the timing of our stay meant that we didn't get the advantage of trash collection day, but it would have been nice to have a second bin available so that we didn't have to deal with it.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this!

Perfect Women's Retreat
Thank you Michelle for allowing us to stay at the perfect place for our Women's weekend away. The house was absolutely perfect! We enjoyed a walk into Frankfort on the Betsie Trail for some ice cream and shopping. Our favorite part was drinking coffee on the front porch watching the sunrise! We can't wait to come back and visit!

very comfy old house with a great yard and location
This place worked out perfectly for our stay with 7 adults. The owners were very nice and very accommodating. There was a brand new grill and nice outdoor tables, plenty of seating for the brick fire pit. The front porch is perfect for a morning coffee, and its easy to walk to several nice restaurants. And the best beach in the world is right up the street. Very nice place!

Loved this cute Victorian gem!
Loved staying here. There were only 7 of us, but this would be great for girls weekends, big families- sleeps 14 I think. Steps away from the bike trail, eateries, etc. Great location. Thanks Michelle!

Cute house! Great location.
Great house, clean, bring TP and paper towels. Not quite large enough for 16 but good for 12. Nice new kitchen, plenty of dishes, coffee pot didn't work luckily we had brought one, plenty of beds but officially only 4 queens, the rest are bunk or pull outs or trundle but totally worked for us. Good location for skiing Crystal Mountain and great location for summer vaca looks like there's a cute beach town 5 min away. I would stay again.

Great for a weekend up north!
We recently stayed for a girls' weekend and really enjoyed the house! The updated kitchen was gorgeous and we loved the charm of this old fashioned home. There was plenty of space in the dining room and two main rooms for our large group. The bathrooms and bedrooms were clean and the backyard had a bunch of great outdoor furniture. It was just a short walk to the small Elberta strip and a short drive into Frankfort. Our only complaints were that the beds weren't very comfortable and that the fuses kept blowing the whole time (too many ladies trying to dry their hair at once), but the management was quick to respond to questions and it was a great deal for the price. We would definitely go back again and stay at the "Candy House".

Beautiful house with character and lots of room!
We really enjoyed our stay. The house and yard are both large and accommodated our group of 15 (12 adults, 3 babies) with no trouble. They even had a pack'n'play and booster seat (and kid sized lawn chairs!) for us to use with the kids.
It's located very conveniently to the beach, the bike trail, and downtowns Elberta and Frankfort.
Do note that there is not central A/C, but every room has either a window unit or a fan, so we stayed cool enough. Also, bring toilet paper, paper towels, and garbage bags, as these are not provided for the whole stay.
All in all, our stay was simply delightful. Thank you!
