We enjoyed staying at the Lone Star Retreat. The unit was nice and clean and it had a pretty view of the lake. There are lots of beautiful flowers and trees on the property too. We had a great time walking around the lake and also going to Waynesville, Asheville and some waterfall hikes.

Lone Star Retreat #3 was a lovely place to stay while enjoying the beauty of Lake Junaluska. Glimpses of the lake could be seen through trees from the large picture windows and the two large decks. We loved watching the birds in the extensive gardens. Since we visited in the summer, the large trees provided a welcome respite from the heat. Everything we needed was provided, and the apartment could not have been cleaner or nicer. Do be aware that there are 25 steps broken up by deck landings to get down to the apartments. We looked at it as good exercise, but we don't have ambulatory issues. We'll be back!

Just as pictured in listing. This property was exceptionally clean, bed was comfortable, updated appliances and large corner window allowing for plenty of light and of course the view of the lake.

We spent a magical week on Lake Junaluska in this apartment. Everything about it and the owners is top notch. The unit was immaculately clean and the owners have covered every detail, including thinking about our fur babies. We spent lovely evenings on the deck enjoying the fire pit and the spectacular views of the Lake. The photos on the listing don't even do it justice. It was our first trip to Lake Junaluska, and hopefully not our last. We would HIGHLY recommend this unit and these owners for your next vacation or getaway.

My best friend and I wanted a vacation in Lake Junaluska so I found this apartment and we were so happy with it. Carolyn had made an amazing notebook of everything you would need on a trip, from restaurants (and menus), activities in the area, Wi-Fi password, instructions for everything! They also left a basket with snacks and a gift card to their favorite restaurant. We were so impressed! When we checked in we found the brand new refrigerator had quit working. Van was there in just a few minutes and brought us a mini fridge to use until a new one could be delivered. We were so happy with the service. All we needed was a small fridge anyway so it was no problem. The area is just beautiful. I loved sitting out on the deck in the mornings with my coffee. We feel like we found a jewel and we both highly recommend. I’m ready to go back.

The Lone Star Retreat was a beautiful place. I enjoyed being able to sit on the porch and watch the lake and trees in cool weather (which, now that I’m back in Texas, I won’t see again until maybe February). I wish I could have given more than 5 stars. Carolyn was a gracious host, attentive but not intrusive. Wish I were back there…

We booked this for our granddaughter and family. being from Florida they wanted something in the mountains and it met every expectation. Nice to have the amenities also at the lake.

It was difficult reviewing this property because, unfortunately, we had to cancel our plans. I understood that it was so late in the game that I couldn't be refunded. However, I did reach out to Carolyn and asked her, since there would be no need to clean the condo (since we won't be there) and my dog was not coming, would she reimburse the cleaning and dog fees. She QUICKLY replied and processed the refund. I am very grateful! If her place is anything like she is, I'm certain it is wonderful! Many thanks~

Fabulous place to stay! Great view of the lake from the deck and the big windows! Owner is respectful of your privacy and yet always available if needed! Convenient to Maggie Valley, Waynesville, and Canton NC. Their yard is beautiful! Close enough to walk to the lake also. Not far from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cataloochee, and Soco Falls! We had a GREAT time! Great place to play or relax. Thank you Carolyn and Van!

Our overall stay was excellent and Carolyn was there if needed. Our only concern was the safety during wet weather where the stairs to the home were green with algae and slippery, fall leaves did not help either. Wold have been nice to have the leaves blown off to provide a bit more safety. Solar lights on stairs went out too quickly leaving it dark when you come in late. In addition the living room windows had no blinds so anyone sleeping on the extra bed or sitting around would have little to no privacy from anyone walking by on the deck.
However, our overall stay was excellent, comfortable, and relaxing which is what we were looking for. I believe it would also be great in the spring and fall when everything comes to life. I will stay again when the time comes to visit family and friends in Waynesville.

Very nice apartment. I stayed in #3. It has large corner windows affording a fine view of forested residential properties and also the lake. One caveat there are no curtains on the living room windows, however it is the last apartment and rarely does anyone walk by. The property is in the trees and is full of landscape plantings.
The owners Carolyn and Van are very nice and helpful, although I had no problems since the apartment was spotless and everything is provided.
The property is only five minutes from downtown Waynesville.

This place is so cute, and the views are awesome! The property is extremely well-kept and is tucked up away from everything, but still close and convenient to a good amount of things. My husband and I prefer to keep to ourselves, and the hosts respected that while still being super accommodating. I would highly recommend this place!

We had a great time in NC. The place was clean and comfy. Loved the puppusses's, Maize and Bentley. Very nice stay. A quick suggestion, instead of the big rocks out front to designate parking maybe a couple of big flower boxes or planters. I clipped one of them when we were leaving.. :(

Everything you’d need!
Wow! Every detail to make our stay perfect was there. Kitchen had every utensil. Bath had every convenience. Comfortable couch and Netflix provided. Easy keyless access. Quiet with pleasant surroundings. Won’t hesitate to rent again.

Star Retreat provide all the comforts of home and much more. We would highly recommend this vacation home and the town of Lake Junaluska is like a storybook town. During our stay we walked around the lake each day and encountered many friendly people.

Lake view may be the lone star retreat but it gets 5 stars
This was wonderful stay. The property is beautiful, well maintained and an awesome view. The kitchen is well equipped as is the rest of property. The deck has a great view and a nice grill and fire pit. We had no pets but it looks like a pet friendly property. Hope to stay there again!

Property is located in mountain/hilly neighborhood. Beautiful view of Lake Junaluska from our rental. Loved that it was pet friendly so we could bring our dog. Steep driving roads and only one parking spot per suite. Really nice walking trail around the lake. Felt safe staying and walking at all times. Very well gathered local information binder supplied- loved that!

This was a great trip. My daughter & I stood here for a week. Caroline answered all my questions in a timely manner & was always available. The cottage had everything we needed, was clean & the neighborhoods was picturesque & quiet. I highly recommend this property if you are thinking of staying in the area.

Beautiful view
Owners were very nice. Apartment was just as viewed. Location was perfect for us, though steps would be an issue for anyone with mobility issues. Lake Junaluska is hilly, so steps can be an issue anywhere.

Beautiful Lakeview cabin in the woods
Effortless check in, thoughtful touches throughout. Loved waking up to the view of the lake! Enjoyed the outdoor firepit! Owner very responsive if we had questions. Overall we had a wonderful stay!

Mountain marvelous
My husband, twin sister, and I enjoyed our 3 night stay here. The kitchen was well equipped. We cooked dinner for 6 one evening, and dined on the lovely and commodious deck with our guests. We hiked at the nearby Cataloochie divide on two days. Enjoyed the shops and fine dining at nearby Waynesville one evening. Best for a couple, or very close family, as my sister slept on the daybed in the main living area, and the bathroom was accessed via the one bedroom where my husband and I slept.

Scenery overlooking the lake was beautiful and the area was quiet allowing us the chance to relax away from the hustle and bustle.

An Outstanding Visit
The apartment is first rate, very spacious and with great views of the lake. A wonderful wooden deck and walkway, nice chairs, just what we needed. The lake is beautiful with nice houses all around. Very convenient to Maggie Valley, Sylva, Cullowhee (Western Carolina U), Cherokee, the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. The hosts are perfect! We WILL return.
