Surtout, le cadre - dans les magnifiques jardins du Palheiro, beaucoup plus beaux que le Jardin Botanique de Funchal. Un pur plaisir de se promener tranquillement dans ce jardin si beau et bien entretenu, comme l’hôtel. Le petit déjeuner, avec des œufs pochés ( Benedict et Florentin) parfaitement préparés Le professionnalisme et la gentillesse du personnel, surtout l’équipe du petit déjeuner, le personnel du Spa et un jeune homme à la réception. La salle de bains de bonne taille avec la douche à l’italienne. Le lit King-size.

La chambre peu lumineuse, nécessitant d’allumer les lampes en pleine journée. De devoir demander que les verres utilisés la veille soit changés ou nettoyés et de nous redonner de l’eau pour la chambre. Une petite absence d’entretien pour de petites choses, par ex. le miroir pour se raser ne tenant pas droit et donc inutilisable car ayant besoin d’être re-vissé.

l'endroit, dans les hauteurs de Funchall, un jardin à la végétation luxuriante, d'un agencement soigné et bien pensé, des plantes et arbres incroyables. Une maison à la décoration "so british", un personnel accueillant et disponible, des chambres très confortables, un spa et une restauration complète et variée. Un immense parc pour se promener et méditer, une piscine très appréciée.

Breakfast was great, the manor and the gardens are wonderful to roam around. There is a old-fashioned snooker/billiards table which is fun.

The location is a little off, so a bit out of the way, but if you are playing golf there every day, then it's perfect.

The peaceful surroundings, excellent food and accommodation and friendliness of staff.

Everything was lovely nothing to dislike. The neighbouring gardens were amazing

Breakfast was first class good selection and served in a lovely room, the pool was very good as was the Spa we both had an excellent massage. The staff make the hotel everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Having stayed before when the food was first class we felt this time it was not so good and was trying too hard with unusual menu choices, where the menu is limited that can lead to a lack of choice

Staff were friendly but service was haphazard. we felt the food was expensive and the vegetarian options were limited and very pricey for what they were. we stayed there long enough that the chef could’ve come up with something new (or at least talked to us about options)

Fitness room a bit too small. No bar soap ,tooth tumblers nor paper napkins in bathroom. However, arrived on request.

My wife and I stayed at Casa Velha in early December 2022. We stayed in a ground floor room in the Golf Wing, which was spacious and comfortable. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent. The public rooms of the hotel are also very comfortable. The Palheiro botanical gardens are just next door, and well worth the 5 euros entry fee for our stay. The golf course halfway house is at the bottom of the garden, and the golf course itself has excellent views. However what marks out Casa Velha is the excellent service of all of the team from top to bottom. They could not have been more helpful, pleasant, cheerful and kind... and that was before I had a medical issue which dumped me for a few days in intensive care in the General Hospital (clean, great care, but not so great food!). All of the staff rose to the occasion and gave my wife fantastic support at a very stressful time. To summarise... the best hotel experience I can remember. I'm looking forward to returning - this time without the medical issue!
