Schöne und ruhige Lage mit ganz tollem Blick auf den Ätna - insbesondere von den entsprechenden Zimmern aus! das Hotel liegt direkt unterhalb des kleinen netten Örtches Castelmola und ist ca. 4km von Taormina entfernt (d.h. man kommt nicht so einfach unmotorisiert nach Taormina); Praktisch: Parkplatz im hoteleigenen Hof gegen Gebühr vorhanden - oder auf dem Parkplatz gegenüber; die Hoteleinrichtung mit alten Holzmöbeln hat uns gut gefallen; Rezeption sehr nett; Frühstücksbuffet o.k.

Das Bett: die Matratze war für mich zu hart und das Bettzeug zuwenig kuschelig (Bettlaken mit Wolldecke)

The pool area, the building structure, the beautiful view of Etna volcano, the staff was very helpful and nice.

The AC was not powerful enough. It was not cool enough in the room. They were ants in the room.

Villa Sonia is a hidden gem, stunning scenery and amazing views from our room and pool. The breakfast was delicious and served on the terrace with views of Etna, a fantastic start to the day. A short walk from the bars and restaurants of Castelmola

Perfect view of Etna from balcony

This is not 4 star hotel in terms of quality. Rather old, repainted and somehow repaired. Breakfast was in standard Italian style served in "restaurant"/hall from 70s. During breakfast only low/instant Caffe was served from old and not working caffe machines (on every day different machine was broken). You could get good Caffe from good caffe machine (the same that staff have been doing theirs) but you have to pay additionaly for it. Pool is rather small and pool bar is often missing staff so you have to wait to get anything. Cleaness in room was ok apart from bedcover which was horribly dirty with lot of stains but it was not put on bed after room cleaning so that is a plus. Water in mini bar was not free which was not surprising after caffe situation during breakfast. You could spot some fungus in bathroom walls.

Very dated decor especially the shower/bathroom. The air conditioning was noisy and not very effective although this may have been because our room was huge
