I booked this hotel mainly for Ironman Kalmar where all hotels closest to the venue where fully booked and if available would cost a fortune and Scandic Kalmar was the available option. I brought my entire family (wife + 2 kids) and adding the bike case as well, the room was not that spacious. Location wise, the hotel is 3-4km away from the Ironman race village but can easily reach by bus. Bus stop is just a few meters away from the hotel. There is a 24x7 convenience store next to it so you can easily buy stuff as and when needed even for odd hours. Buffet breakfast is very typical so I wouldn't highly rate it, it was the same type of menus during our 6 days stay at this hotel. Staff are welcoming and very helpful whenever we asked for directions.

Room cleaning is not done everyday as what we have thought. We left in the morning and when we came back it was not made by the housekeeping team. We just learnt that we need to book in advance (a day before) if we want our room to be cleaned.

If I'm every unsure of which hotel to pick or I don't find any particularly good options, I definitely go for Scandic. Scandic is not "very cheap" but you definitely get good value for the money. Breakfast is spot on as always, rooms are clean, beds comfortable. They're just an overall nice experience.

There's a Tesla supercharger right next to the hotel and 1 more charging station with 3 different cables, so some more charging stations other than Tesla's supercharger would be nice. This was not an issue as I had a hybrid car but for someone who has a fully electric car that's not a Tesla it could become an issue.

Clean room and friendly staff.

Bathroom lacked towels but that was quickly fixed. Smart-TV was not Smart, they do have a USB connection but no cable. A nice guy in the reception was going to check for cables and get back to us but we never heard anything for two days. Breakfast was a disaster, pancakes were like stone, some of the food was never restocked. The plastic plates were never available so we asked for one and we got a really dirty/stained one. Staff removed our fika from the table while we fetched coffee so they were clearly stressed. We ate at 09:30 both days. Bed matress was bouncy and moved around a lot. Staff were friendly but that's about it, sorry. I don't feel comfortable giving this bad a review but for 1600 kr per night we expected more.

Free use of bikes. Location is quite from center and a more industrial/business area

Location was the priority. I'm from Ireland and had just hired a car so was getting used to driving on the right. I wanted break my journey from Malmo to Gotland in Kalmar but didn't want to drive into the city so the location of your hotel just off the motorway was ideal. I arrived late and left at 11 am. I enjoyed an evening meal there and the breakfast the next morning was most satisfactory.

They didn’t have airconditioning. We had to leave the windows open otherwise the room was so warm. Our room was located just beside the motorway & it was difficult sleep because of the noise from the running cars. Otherwise everything else were alright, food, friendly employees.

Room cleaning must be ordered the day before.

The room was ok, good breakfast.
