Great room, very comfortable, most of the staff were great, especially in the bar/restaurant area.

Initially we were given a room that wasn’t ready and we saw some disagreement between reception and housekeeping which didn’t set a nice tone to begin with. Coffee machine in the room was not clean. Noise from other guests late at night.

The room was comfortable. The interior decor of both the rooms and the hotel itself was nice. I particularly liked the paintings in the hallways. The bathroom was big enough - unlike the tiny bathrooms in the newer hotel chains. The location seemed safe.

When I got to the hotel I was pretty sleep deprived and jet-lagged. I'm used to walking in and out of breakfast rooms which is the way things are in North America. So the morning of the day I checked out I went straight into the breakfast room but didn't see the sign saying "wait to be served" so just found a table to sit down and got breakfast from the buffet area. I didn't realize there was breakfast available for ordering from menus when I saw that other guests were being served, so I asked one of the servers who explained to me that if guests don't wait to be served servers assume they don't need food from the menu. She then gave me the menu but I had already had quite a bit of food so decided I wouldn't need to order from it. I later spoke to another server and he reiterated what the other server said - that there was a "please wait here" sign and that they're really busy and can't pay attention to every guest. He was impatient and curt and said I could go back in and have more breakfast if I wanted (because I said I had been looking forward to the breakfast which I was told was very good at this hotel - not realizing it was the cooked breakfast that was particularly good according to people I know), but at that point I'd already finished eating and left the room when I was speaking to him. My issue was mainly with the overall attitude of the staff. I’ve worked in the service industry before myself and have never spoke to customers the way I was spoken to (especially by the last person). No matter whose fault it was (and I acknowledge I didn't see the "wait" sign), if the customer made a good faith mistake, the ones providing services should not try to win an argument at all costs but simply listen and try to understand. Or else, they’re in the wrong field and should change jobs.

The staff were so helpful and kind. They made my wife's birthday treat a total luxury. The thoughtful touches they put in to the stay meant that we have raved about the place to everyone we've spoken to since. The whole family came for a delicious meal, with a great kids menu. Then we left my wife there to get a peaceful night's sleep in a totally gorgeous room. Brilliant hospitality.

It’s very convenient for both Hampton Court Palace and central London. The room was very comfortable, staff very well trained and polite…..the food both at breakfast and dinner was superb.
