directions are tricky but Dida sent visual directions which helped a lot

Cosy place in beautiful surroundings. Our hostess, Annalisa, where very helpful. Breakfast were served on the terrasse every morning. Location close to the city center. Would love to come back to this place again.

The location in Montalcino was spectacular, Dida , the host, did personally welcomed us, gave us great recommendations and made our time here fabulous. Breakfast, which was served on our terrace was excellent. We were able to park our car for free at the B&B site, which is very important because usually cars have to be parked outside the city walls. The B&B experience was wonderful and we will be back.

The hostess was nice and very helpful. The outdoor seating was beautiful and the breakfasts were superb!

Porta Castellana is an awesome B&B in Montalcino. The property itself is beautiful with cute cats running around it and the rooms are nicely decorated and cozy. It's a short (but steep) walk up to the main street in Montalcino which was great for dinners. Annalisa, the owner, was welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. When we arrived, she even helped us to get our car to the property when we couldn't navigate the maze of tiny streets on our own. My husband and I were traveling with my parents and Annalisa arranged our rooms to be next to each other and so we could eat breakfasts together. The breakfasts were light and healthy and it was lovely to sit outside in the garden to enjoy them. I'd highly recommend Porta Castellana for a stay in Tuscany.

As I mentioned above, we had some trouble finding it. This is no fault of the property as Annalisa sent us detailed instructions. We just aren't used to navigating medieval towns and our rental car's tires weren't great. Annalisa drove my dad back to where we'd parked our car in town, then had him follow her to the property. Once he'd walked the route he needed to drive a couple of times, then he could find his way back in the car after our day trips.

BnB Porta Castellana is a true jewel, if you want to stay in Montalcino, stay here. The owner, Annalisa treated us as if we were family. She also knows all about every corner of the town and the Val D’Orcia.

Beautiful room. Great shower. Fantastic breakfast. Very comfortable bed. Excellent AC which was vital as it was 36 degrees. Easy and ample parking.

All was perfect.

Nothing I didn't like

The gardens surrounding the property are beautiful. Breakfast patios are private and surrounded by nature. The apartment is lovely, a combination of very new with classic Italian comfort. Everything worked perfectly.

Deluxe room is small for 2 person. enough for 1 person. there’s no window in the room. I have to open my room door for air-refreshing. It brings into room flies and fallen leafs

The location was quite good. The staff and owner were very outgoing. Breakfast was perfect each of the mornings we were there.

I thought I had book the Room “with balcony” but when we arrived we didn’t have the room I thought I had booked. I didn’t mention it to the owner because there was another couple in the room “with balcony.”

What a great host!! We will be back in Montalcino and stay here again.

Location, breakfast, everything.

steep hills could be tough for some people to walk.

Perfekt location with nice garden, 5 min up the stairs to the center of Montalcino. Comfortable room. We were lucky and had breakfast outside with a great view and a very nice chat with the owner.

I love the quaintness of the property and the excellent views from the gardens.

The host is super friendly and helpful. The place is amazing, beautiful and cozy, and the breakfast is delicious!

Great staff and breakfast. Really passionate about what they do and the surrounding area. Fabulous garden. Overall was just a pleasure to be there.

There was a small problem with my booking which spoilt my stay to some extent. However I have to acknowledge the efforts that Duccio made to solve any issues that arose.

Although the place is in a beautiful location, I am not 100% sure if the photos/description are as accurate as I expected myself
