Service was not good - almost no staff spoke english. For a 5 star hotel this is strange - concierge couldnt give the most basic instructions, the waiter at the hotel steakhouse could barely take an order. Spa receptionist didnt speak a word. Doormen didnt say goodevening or good morning etc. Not a 5 star experience No openable window in the room and air conditioning not good.

The location is great right by the lake and you are in all the activities surrounding the lake. The food services in the Executive Lounge was pretty good.

It is an old hotel and the windows in the hotel facing the lake were small and blocked by trees. We paid a premium for a room facing the lake but we did not see much of the lake. One is better served to get a cheaper room and just walk out to see the lake. The pillows provided were either too soft or too hard. We did not get a decent sleep for staying there for two nights.

Wonderful view of the lake from the room window, good facilities, very helpful staff. It is expensive but worth every penny.

The room I chose, it has a nice view towards the West Lake. When we entered the hotel, this is one of the few hotels that offers air purifiers at every square meter, even in the room to make sure you have the best air quality and non-allergy experience (not meaning in Hangzhou the air quality is bad).
