the host and his house employee were present when we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the home. We thought it was a nice gesture. He showed us the rooms, wifi, how to use the ONLY tv they have, the air conditioning, and how the water heater switch works. He told us he was showing us these things because he was tired of guests calling him complaining about things malfunctioning. He said it in a joking way, so we all laughed. Well, he was not joking! before he said goodbye he then asks for the rest of the money in cash. I was perplexed as I had already given my credit card info on this site. I had already paid 50% down (through this site), so I figured the rest would be charged to the same form of payment. He said no, that he requires the 2nd half in cash because people have ripped him off in the past. it took me by surprised because this is something that should have been informed from the beginning. But whatever, I gave him the cash he asked for which left me with almost no cash to enjoy the rest of my trip as I was not anticipating this. As soon as he left, it occurred to us, he missed showing us where the laundry facilities where located. the tour was so quick, and we were so excited to finally get there (had a 4 hrs drive) that we forgot to ask some questions. so, I texted him (literally within 5-10 min from his departure). no response. we even texted his house employee since she left us her number and told us to call her if we needed anything. no response from her either. we finally figured out the washer was locked in a storage room attached to the house. but left us with no access. this is false advertising, as one of the MAIN REASONS we chose that property was because it had laundry facilities. we were on vacation for 7 days; therefore, doing laundry was important to us. He was always responsive with calls before check in. well it ended there. he did not even reply with an excuse. we decided to let it go. we wanted to enjoy our vacation. CONTINUED..

but as we settled in, we noticed house was not clean. one of the bathrooms shower had visible mold. the floor was dirty which one could not tell unless you were barefooted. the downstairs bathroom had an awful sewage smell, and the sink was leaking from underneath. we just stayed away from that bathroom. only 1 room had a good working air conditioning. the other 2 turned on but did not cool. at night, the breeze was good, so we opened the windows. but it was very warm and humid during the day. when we went to bed our 1st night, I went to lock the house and noticed the glass sliding door next to the main door of the house did not close. the latch was missing (took video). whats the point of having keys if you cannot lock the house? we did not have a choice but to sleep like that since he still was not responding to our calls. it is a secure villa with guards but that does not mean we want to be in a house we cant lock. it made us feel uneasy. the next day, I went to the villas administrative office to complain about these things. they told me since this villa was privately owned and not booked directly through them there was nothing they could do to help us. at this point I was pissed. I called booking.com and received no response from them as well. again, we had to move on and ignore these things as we wanted to enjoy our vacation. the community is beautiful, and it has great amenities in walking distance. we were only able to use the jacuzzi once as we had no idea how to turn the jets on. this was devastating as we were looking forward using the jacuzzi more than going to the beach. our last day there, I was going around flipping light switches trying to turn off a light I left on outside and guess what? the jacuzzi jets turned on. Really? on our last day I finally figured out the jets were controlled by a simple light switch that was under my own nose. I was livid. why didnt he send a simple text pointing me to the light switch? COMMENT CUT OFF

Proximity to everything. It's a private villa within a gated community yet walking distance (or a short moto ride) from the main strip of nightlife and restaurants and casinos, etc etc.
